“Arrived at skyline apartment in Whitby had trouble accessing the key as given wrong code. Luckily a resident nearby helped us out very thankful to them. On gaining access the apartment smelt of cooking oil. On closer inspection it was due to a dirty extractor fan above the hob. Also had no hot water once the heating went off at night at 9.30. It was a lovely apartment in great position. Just a few tweaks it wld be great.”

“We have just returned from a fabulous stay at ‘The Nook’ in Saltburn. We arrived before our check in time and were very kindly greeted by Geoff. He was very helpful with everything we needed to know for our stay and made us feel very welcome. There was a welcome food package of fresh bread, cheese and grapes and some fresh milk in the fridge, which was so helpful after our journey. The Nook was spotlessly clean with two great sized bedrooms, which each had a bathroom. The view from the living area had a gorgeous view of the sea. I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to go back.”

“We asked before the stay 3 times re the parking as we all went as a family in 3 different cars. We were told we are fine to park behind the property in a small alleyway. On arrival we asked once again and we were told the same and they also confirmed that it is free to park. We drove behind the property and parked it. To our surprise we received parking ticket worth of £210 which was a nightmare. We contacted the host and we were told that to send evidence of ticket and then they will sort the ticket out. We sent an email, unfortuantely we received a response and was told that they cannot refund us. We had to pay the price for a misleading information provided to us. We sent screenshots of conversation which was intentionally ignored and neglected to understand the circumstances. Extremely poor knowledge of information provided. Secondly, the hob was not working. We had 4 children, one was 10+ and others were below 5yrs old. We contacted the host, no response and eventually we had to order the food for the rest of the stay as we were unable to cook. We paid £600+ worth of money to stay and due to misleading information and then neglegence of helping us re the hob eventually ended up spending more than our budget which was stressful and our holiday ended up experiencing neglect and ignorance. The hosts never bothered to respond for parking tickets and under working hob. Unable to provide zero star so had to give 1 not even a half star for the worth of stay. The only thing that was worth staying there was to take stress, experience ignorant hosts and ignorance to our emails and misleading communication. Extremely poor quality of service. Airbnb has to compensate for their service.”

“Really nicely styled, comfortable house on lovely waterside location. Clean with nice touches such as tea, coffee and washing up liquid provided. Only downside was having to wait for the immersion heater to heat up in order to have a bath.”

“Everything was great we loved the perfectly fresh, clean place . The location is great the size of the house amazing very nice and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. We loved the personal kind note left on the kitchen counter when we arrived. The only difficulty was before we came we had to deal with an agency and not the property owner wich was not so practical. Otherwise was really amazing.”

“Beautifully appointed flat in a fabulous location! Very cosy with a sea view and I would recommend. One thing to note is that you can hear the people in the holiday flat upstairs due to the wooden floors but the convenience and location makes up for it”

Sitting area could do with a few more comfortable seats to relax in but otherwise everything needed for a great short stay”

“I booked what was termed a luxury property in Saltburn. Whilst the property was nice inside and fairly clean the kitchen severely let it down. I had booked a 9 person property and there were two small battered scratched frying pans that frankly I would not have used even if they were big enough for 9 people which they were not. There was still burnt food left on them too. There was also three small /medium saucepans - again which were in terrible condition and would not have held sufficient food for 9 people. Whilst there was sufficient glassware there was only 6 mugs!!. I rang Host and stay and was told that someone would email me. I heard nothing so emailed the next day. I was told that 'it seems that the mugs have been taken' and 'after checking with the owner adequate frying pans are not something that can be provided as there are no spare !! In my mind, the house was therefore not fit for purpose and should not have been advertised as a luxury 9 bed house. We could not all have a cup of tea together!! Seems very tight to me that you could not have just spent £30 to fully equip the house properly. There were also lots of rubbish left out from previous tenant. I would not use host and stay again due to this experience. After mentioning these issues and advising by email that this response was unacceptable - I still received standard emails which said 'if there was anything they could do - just let them know'”

“Fabulous place for a week's stay at a very reasonable price. We were in Bedlington for a family gathering and the house was a perfect base. It was exactly as described with lovely decor and fittings and it had everything we needed for our stay. The information pack and general guidance was really helpful, I made use of the work/office area and everything worked perfectly. We'll definitely be back to stay soon.”
