We enjoyed our stay. Property was lovely and location fabulous. The property had not been fully cleaned. There was chocolate wrappers behind sofa and sofas had not been moved for cleaning so thick dust underneath. Particularly disappointing since an extra charge is applied for cleaning. Disappointed that property was advertised at a price but additional costs hiked this up by £35.00 per night. Then when we paid another payment was requested being damage insurance which was compulsory and was not fully refundable. It is now 5 days since our stay and my refund is nowhere to be seen.

We stayed at the Sea Salt Apartment in Whitby. The apartment itself was beautiful and very comfortable, extremely clean and in a great location. However the stairs up to the apartment were lethal - my golden retriever got his nail stuck in there and it ripped it off which caused issues throughout the rest of the stay. To then top it off my Mums German shepherd did the exact same! Unfortunately because of this we would not book the apartment again.

We stayed at Castle View in Seahouses. The property was great, brilliant location, comfortable and well furnished. However, be aware that there is a mandatory damage waiver that is not listed on the booking details and has been raised in reviews before. You have to pay £25 non refundable waiver or £250 deposit of which £10 is retained as an admin fee. With regard to customer service about this issue, communication on booking.com was efficient. I would like to see the listing change to reflect the hidden costs before I recommend staying with Host and Stay again.

Arrived at skyline apartment in Whitby had trouble accessing the key as given wrong code. Luckily a resident nearby helped us out very thankful to them. On gaining access the apartment smelt of cooking oil. On closer inspection it was due to a dirty extractor fan above the hob. Also had no hot water once the heating went off at night at 9.30. It was a lovely apartment in great position. Just a few tweaks it wld be great.

Location good, bed comfortable. Bathroom needs attention tiles and shower head needs bleaching , radiator needs replacing. Very dusty throughout. Wall near the bin needs cleaning , blinds dirty. Glasses are just rubbish. TV needs replacing. No light on the stairs very dangerous and against H&S law.

Place and surroundings were great, only problem was the heating. The heating was on a timer which couldn't be altered and was extremely noisy when it came on at 6.30 in a morning and until after 11 at night, the pipes were cracking and popping loudly at times when you we were trying to sleep. The only way around it was to turn the thermostat down low to turn the heating off, but that made it cold in the morning.

Spent a week in The Cottage @ Bagdale from 4th to 11th November. In summary we found the cottage was geographically ideal for walking into Whitby and the property was more or less spotlessly clean on arrival. Unfortunately there are many negatives and after looking at numerous reviews on other review sites I don’t think we are on our own with some serious issues and I think the owners should be made aware and asked to correct these as soon as they can. In no particular order. The property isn’t clearly identified and the parking slot isn’t straight forward to park there safely, the property is more or less surrounded by a food wholesale warehouse, Trillos and early morning deliveries and collections cause the parking slot entry/exit to be blocked by vans and wagons. The heating system is controlled by a Google system integrated into the broadband router, there are no instructions on how to control this, either heat or time and I didn’t figure it out all week, this has been mentioned by numerous other people staying at the cottage. There is a wood burner in place, also advertised as part of the facilities, no fuel/logs/kindling/matches, are guests expected to source a supplier and bring back to the cottage? Floor covering in the kitchen area is a laminated wood style covering but has large gaps between each plank section and is loose and a trip hazard. The furniture, in particular the two 2 seater settees are very uncomfortable, the fabric is stained and worn/bobbly. The broadband speed/bandwidth is inadequate to support the smart TV so such as iPlayer, Netflix etc can’t be watched as they won’t run or they buffer continuously. The shower tray in the ensuite shower wasn’t useable due to the drain being blocked and the tray flooding if used. No waste/rubbish bins in any bathroom and no toilet roll holders. The bath in the main bathroom requires urgent attention to the caulking/seal around the joint between bath and tiles, there is a large gap which gets larger when the bath is filled with water or stood in to shower, the caulking is also badly stained and brown in colour. The bedding, pillows and duvets are low quality, in particular the duvets are at best summer grade and we were cold in bed and had to use two duvets to keep warm, made worse due to the heating system timing and temperature control being unfathomable. The furniture in the bedrooms are cheap flatpack assembled units which are wobbly and flimsy. The bath sheet towels should be replaced, they are thin and end of useful life. The bed mattress in the ensuite room is particularly uncomfortable. Many of the walls are marked or have scuffs or paint chips. In conclusion, the cottage is not to a luxury standard and is basically at best a functional holiday let and didn’t at over £1,000 for a week for 2 people (including a discount) in November represent value for money.

We had a fantastic weekend in the Airbnb, there was just a few things that really let the place down. It’s a very beautiful spot and would easily have been 5* if not for these issues. The sheets provided for the sofa bed were dirty or stained in the corner. Huge black mark. There was nowhere to put any recycling. Finding the keys was also terrible, we were told to go to one place on the Airbnb chat but the link showed a shop completely different and nowhere near the one I was initially told. A lockbox with the key in on an outside wall would be so much easier than having to faff around driving from shop to shop just to pick up or drop off the key. The facilities were fantastic, all cooking & cleaning appliances were immaculate, it was really great that other home appliances were provided such as a hair dryer, iron & ironing board & vacuum cleaner. I would stay here again but I only if the washing of the bedsheets and the key pick up or drop off was improved

As a group of five couples we stayed at The Old Brewery for our annual walking holiday. The Old Brewery is ideally situated in Richmond which has a diverse range of shops and restaurants to cater for all needs. It is also handily placed for access to fantastic walks in Swaledale and Wensleydale. The Old Brewery itself is a well-appointed spacious house ideal for groups of 10-12 people. A main reason for choosing this property was that we wanted each couple to have their own shower/bathroom. We had a very enjoyable stay which was marred by problems with the plumbing. In late August a month before our stay I noticed a review which complained that two of the showers did not supply any hot water. I emailed Host & Stay, with whom I had booked, to ensure that the problem had been rectified. I was assured that the showers were now operating correctly so had no further concerns. However, when we arrived two of the showers were both running cold. In addition, on our arrival, we found water covering the floor of one of the en-suite shower rooms which was coming from a leaking toilet. I immediately phoned Host & Stay to report the problem and was told that they would arrange for a plumber to attend. Whether the plumber came or not I do not know, but at that end of our stay the toilet was still leaking. These problems did detract somewhat from an otherwise enjoyable stay. I have emailed Host & Stay for a response but after several days still have had no reply. Given my experiences I certainly will not be using Host & Stay again and cannot recommend them.

The light bulb in the kitchen was flashing constantly so you could put the light on. DVD player not connected and didnt reach the plug socket without unplugging everything and moving them around. No batteries in the DVD remote control so had to swap the TV remote batteries back and forwards to use DVD and TV. Received 4 emails gently reminding us to leave by 10am. 4 emails is NOT a gentle reminder but constant badgering. having to pay and extra £25 or pay £250 which you get back within 28days is and unpleasant addition not exactly highlighted when you book.Loved the accommodation just not impressed with host and stay as they're not maintaining their accommodation and badgering customers.

Beautiful apartment in Saltburn huntclife Britannia mansions . A few unpleasant things as you opened the main front door the smell of damp hits you ,the bannister is a bit wobbly, going 4flights up trying to negotiate the manuel light switch,on every floor . It was a relief to get to the flat and see the high quality revamped spacious flat ,stunning ! Top quality appliances and furnishings ,views to die for . Called the emergency no to ask how to turn the heating up as it was a bit chilly ,the young man said he would get back to me ,he never did ,a manual Would be helpful .we thought been 4floors up a fire manuel would be reassuring. We stripped the beds ( one of the beds was stained )for the cleaner and was surprised to see no mattress protector on the beds and on the pillows ,a few cobwebs around the main light ,and dust under the bath ( only saw that as we dropped a ring ) the battery candles are a nice touch but didn’t work . All in all we had a memorable comfortable stay really lovely place if you don’t mind climbing the stairs . Swam at 7am in the sea fabulous.

Robins Den We enjoyed our stay in Whitby. The cottage was well equipped & had been adequately cleaned. We didn't find a chopping board, evidenced by previous tenants having used the table mats. Rather let down by the exterior. The house number plate was missing, having been broken off its fixings. Also the area needed a good clean to remove the cigarette ends, the weeds & accumulated general rubbish. Also, 19 emails is far too many to receive for any booking-- eg Booking.com only one needed!!

A spacious and well equipped unit in a good location. However, it is dark, no outdoor seating and stank of dogs, the lack of parking also an issue. The cleaning and minor maintenance needs attention and unlikely to stay in apartments run by Host and Stay as I object to non refundable security deposits.

The Cottage, Staxton, Willerby Great location and base for exploring the North East coastline from Flamborough to Whitby and the North York Moors. Old cottage on a quiet street, easy access just off the main road. Adequate enough facilities, no dishwashing or cleaning supplies available, take or buy your own. Mind your heads upstairs, there are sloping ceilings in all rooms. Good communication from Host & Stay and issues reported to them were dealt with quickly. In its current condition, we probably wouldn't return to this particular property again. We did feel put out about having to pay a large security deposit after the time of booking and a non-refundable admin fee for the privilege, which we have never experienced in any other UK holiday cottage before.

Abbey heights Whitby we feel the check in time is late as we would have liked to be settled and unpacked earlier so we could explore what Whitby had to offer the accommodation was clean when we arrived, the living room could do with blinds or curtains as in the evenings while watching TV there was seagulls flying passed and it was aittle scary, the single bedroom could do with more hanging rails for clothes, the main bedroom the bed was uncomfy and dipped in the middle for the price we paid I would have expected to be checked in at 2pm and check out could do with being 11am as we were rushing to get packed and out by 10am.

My apartment at Queens Square Wolverhampton ,Uk was clean and ok but the wifi took 2 days to be installed and the electric cooker did not work throughout my one week stay .this was a terrible service as I received no feedback, apologies or even compensation despite my several emails and getting promises to have it resolved.i was forced to spend extra by eating out,why would I book an airbnb if I couldn't make my hot meals,I could have easily booked a hotel room instead

Good price and instructions re directions, parking and accessing the cottage were perfect, the host kept in touch at appropriate intervals. Sadly the sink in the bedroom was not fit for purpose as it was a tiny vanity basin with a glass shelf over rendering it virtually impossible to wash and clean your teeth. Certainly not fit for a family of four! Consequently we had to wash in the kitchen sink.
