The house is big, well equipped and in a great spot, plus there is parking. However we were very disappointed that the house absolutely STINKS of dogs. We had to go out and buy air freshener, the stench was really overwhelming and disgusting. Also, it wasn’t the cleanest, there was dog hair everywhere as well as long hairs in the bathrooms. Finally the beds are really uncomfortable, they need upgrading with better mattresses. I could put up with the beds and human hairs, but the dog smell was foul.

I booked what was termed a luxury property in Saltburn. Whilst the property was nice inside and fairly clean the kitchen severely let it down. I had booked a 9 person property and there were two small battered scratched frying pans that frankly I would not have used even if they were big enough for 9 people which they were not. There was still burnt food left on them too. There was also three small /medium saucepans - again which were in terrible condition and would not have held sufficient food for 9 people. Whilst there was sufficient glassware there was only 6 mugs!!. I rang Host and stay and was told that someone would email me. I heard nothing so emailed the next day. I was told that 'it seems that the mugs have been taken' and 'after checking with the owner adequate frying pans are not something that can be provided as there are no spare !! In my mind, the house was therefore not fit for purpose and should not have been advertised as a luxury 9 bed house. We could not all have a cup of tea together!! Seems very tight to me that you could not have just spent £30 to fully equip the house properly. There were also lots of rubbish left out from previous tenant. I would not use host and stay again due to this experience. After mentioning these issues and advising by email that this response was unacceptable - I still received standard emails which said 'if there was anything they could do - just let them know'

The property wasn’t clean and we’re still waiting for a response from Host &Stay. In summary, on arrival the dishwasher was half full of water, sink bowl was dirty with coffee grains, lower shower drain was blocked with hair, dirty hand towel. Garage door didn’t close which made the property unsecured, this was fixed but only after our firs night in the property. Food mats not clean, shelves in fridge hadn’t been cleaned.

The property is long overdue a thorough clean. Far too many cobwebs to count, marks and scuffs on the walls all the way up to the flat. Stain on carpet approaching the kitchen. Cutlery drawer was depleted, limited cooking facilities, broken vase in cupboard which had been commented about previously. No toilet brush, budget toilet paper. Bathroom light flashes on and off all night and shines through the badly fitted door. Thick dust on beams. I notice comments about the lack of cleanliness but nothing has been done to rectify negative comments. On a positive note it’s a great location and could be fantastic with a little tic

The entrance and hallways of the building were smelly and dirty. The apartment was not cleaned and there was a leak on one of the bedrooms, although we knew the location was going to be loud because of bars and clubs near by the noise felt like we were clubbing ourselves, the state of the windows was really poor so we could hear everything Really disappointed as this was not a cheap apartment, the beds were really uncomfortable and the carpets were all really dirty. The photos on the website must have been taken a while ago and it does not look that way anymore, would not recommend and wouldn’t certainly stay there again Such a shame

Unfortunately I am a dissatisfied customer, I book an apartment with booking for three adults on a business trip. Dirty apartment. Many broken things including the bathroom radiator. A single queen-size bed and two sofas. Problems logging in, no one answers the phone. On the contrary, the view of the sea was beautiful. I wrote to them and in response they simply thanked me for the feedback. I WILL NOT RETURN'

Firstly the pigeon poo is all over the passage to get to the apartment door and all though spikes have been put all over window ledges the pigeons still nest there, you need a covering over the door to stop pigeon poo all over the front door step and key safes no 1 wants to touch them with all the poo on them 🙄 also the keys safes are to high to see the code to press in ! And the apartment was cold we tried to turn temperature up bit obviously was set by owners on a low setting , in this weather not good was cold 🥶 apartment was nice but to many stairs to apartment 2 and all pigeon poo has been walked up the stairs 🤮🤢 wouldn't stay again.......

Montrose View, 33 Upleatham Street. We (4 adults, 1 dog and a baby) stayed at the property for four days. Cleanliness 4/5 stars. There were some dog hairs upstairs from previous rentals and the bathroom wasn't the cleanest but nothing major. Location 5/5 stars. Great for what we needed. Lovely and close to the seaside and we really enjoyed Staithes and Robin Hood Bay which was a short drive away. Amenities 2/5 stars. For four days we were provided with: - A variety of hair and body products in the bathroom - 4 sachets of coffee (for four adults) - 2 dishwasher tablets and we couldn't get anymore as they only provided a 'starter pack'. Bearing in mind we cooked every night and there were four adults and a baby staying. - 1 bin bag (which wasn't put in the actual bin, we had to do it ourselves). There was no seperate bins for food waste or recycling Environment 2/5 stars. - The living room ceiling light was not working. However, Host & Stay were prompt at replying and offered to send out a maintenence team the next day, which we declined as we had already settled into the property. - No blackout blinds in any of the rooms. As seen from previous reviews for this property the street light is really bright. The wooden blinds are not sufficient and really affected mine and my baby's sleep. - The spring in one of the sofas were broken, there were 4 adults and not enough comfortable seating for us. - The kitchen cupboards were unorganised, pans and mixing bowls just thrown into the cupboard. - There was around 4 hangers per room. No hooks on the back of doors to hang coats or clothes on in a cosy property. Overall, we were disappointed with the basic amenities, particularly for a property that is described as 'Lux'. In my opinion, I would rather have had more coffee, milk and or tea than the beauty products. The property lacked attention to detail and should not be classed as a 'lux' stay. This was our first time with Host & Stay, we had high hopes but this may be our last stay too.

Outside was not clean or well maintained , the hall and stairs was dirty with thick dust on the stairs , the place smelt strongly of damp , on entry to our flat , called Time out , the cream carpets were really dirty , the kitchen was dirty , the hob was old with ingrained dirt, the paintwork on the main window is old and peeling , the smoke detector was beeping , I immediately called to ask someone to come out to fix that and said I really did not want to stay there as the place was not up to standard , I was told that someone could come to clean tomorrow but not a deep clean and there was nowhere else to stay , someone did come to replace the battery in the smoke alarm , I was so disappointed and upset that this type of place could be offered as a holiday home, the location itself is good but the accommodation is not acceptable due to poor maintenance and cleanliness

Bed was very comfortable and bedroom very nice . Unfortunately the rest of the place was not , as soon as we entered the premises there was a very strong smell off damp . The bath was stood on wooden blocks with damp behind them and in the corners next to the shower . We couldn’t get the water hot enough to enjoy a bath also . The courtyard was just a small concrete patio area that was not in a a very state with no seating at all. Access to the premises requires walking through a back ally which is filthy with a lot of people shouting etc though the night .

Poor customer service Reported a fault with heated towel rails, advised someone would visit to try and rectify this No visit and no further communication during our stay. Cottage was not thoroughly cleaned, stained carpets and rug, cobwebs around some furniture and light fittings Not what we were expecting!

I’m sad to say that despite the apartment being really nice & in a great location I cannot recommend this as Host & Stay take £250 damage insurance from your account 2 weeks prior to the stay & refund it a week after your departure. I find this business transaction unacceptable I’m afraid

Great location! 5 minute walk from the beach with some nice cafes, pubs nearby! Lovely beach with some great weather! So all in all great location and 2 min walk from local sainsburys! Check in was easy, coded lock for the keys! Only get one set but easy to just leave it in the coded lock! We had a few problems at the property! The shower didn’t work for 4 hours, and from responded it fixed itself after a few hours trying! The wifi wasn’t working, however there was problems in the area so there isn’t much you can do about that! One of the rooms had a damp wall with a lot of mould on. A family member with asthma struggled a lot and had to switch rooms! You get the damp smell when you enter which isn’t pleasant! But everything you need in there! Apart from the moulded patch on the wall everywhere was clean and great location!

First and foremost you have to deal with the smell of Cat Pee, the smell is horrendous so much so that we left a day early because of it. We had to buy a plug in air freshener for each room just to be able to go in them. This was in early reviews so I assumed it would have been dealt with.  The bathroom smells of pee, the rugs were filthy. There were cobwebs everywhere considering we arrived as the cleaner left it was a bit of a poor effort.  The only reason we stayed was because I knew there would be no chance of getting the money back and it was our holiday. I understand something's are out of your control but please address the smell as I would definitely not recommend the cottage to anyone. A very disappointed ex customer.

Walked in food and paper on floor look outside there chips fish and rubbish all over the floor with flies all around it, then upstair one bed room the bedding was dirty, walk into bath and toliet roll holder broken and all bits left on side, main big bedroom dirty curtian and dirt on a picture, walk upstair to next floor and they try to screw nails in to the carpet because it all coming away but there was a screw on the floor which had come out which one my children stood on, the whole house really could of done with whole clean over again but when you have your personal stuff in and trying make holiday with children you don’t really want be messing around with it, and be warn the shower are terrible not suitable for as many people as which house can hold half you end up with freezering cold shower and host and stay ask you look at boiler and top it up if it needs it doing hmmmm I’m on holiday not messing around with something your paid for! I wouldn’t come back here again a lot money and the house really could do with updated it’s try tired and not up to standard with the money your asking for it

We stayed at Rockpool Scarborough unfortunately the uncleanliness of the bathroom marred our trip the toilet pan was brown stained with a thick crust of? ??? Between the toilet cistern and pan the sink taps were thick with black gunge around their base the shower curtain had wet red mildew around it and there was an infestation of large bluebottles, the bath was dirty and the slip mat was also dirty . The whole of the bathroom needs replacing , will not be returning and its very unlikely that I would be a Host and Stay guest again .I have stayed in Airbnb places all over the country and also abroad ,and have never had such poor accommodation

Recent stay in Skinningrove. Property sleeps 8 but unfortunately only 4 mugs so we had to take it in turns to have a hot drink. Property in need of some general TLC. When we had any concerns we emailed and text host and stay and we received a prompt response and friendly response so thank you for your help. We requested more towels and they were delivered the next day. Unfortunately We would t stay there again but we do thank you for your help whilst we were there.

Not happy that a few weeks after booking the arrival time was changed to 4pm, would really put me off booking a short break with this company again. I had to contact them several times before our arrival ( to ask if we could arrive at 3pm as originally advertised and also book an extra night)and although they always promised to get back to me they didn't. I must add that all their properties I have stayed in have been perfect.

We had many problems with host and stay especially with very poor communication and customer service from the staff at the office. The property we booked in Saltburn was a ground floor flat in a dilapidated looking building with workmen fixing the balcony above. The flat felt cold on arrival and lacked any coziness with laminated flooring throughout and no rugs or soft furnishings. General air of neglect with tired decor, and areas of damp on wall in dining kitchen. Lighting was glaringly over bright in sitting room and dining area with no lamps. On arrival we noticed the wall mounted tv was coming away from the wall and alerted the office who sent a technician. He couldn’t fix it that day so we had no tv for two of our three night stay. On the day of our departure the electricity cut off suddenly while we were still showering and packing up, leaving two guests in pitch darkness in the two bathrooms. We couldn’t make hot drinks etc. I called the office to be later told the owner needed to add credit to the meter. I was asked to go out in the back yard (very unsavoury with rubbish strewn about and shared with another apartment) to reset the meter. With all the chaos on leaving we left two items at the property and when I asked for these to be sent was told I’d be charged £15. Despite paying this the company still made a mess of sending the items getting the address wrong so it didn’t arrive. Throughout the experience their communications were muddled with a different person responding each time to my emails which then led to staff not being aware of what had already been agreed. I do not recommend this company and was very disappointed with their responses throughout.
