The house was damp smelling down stairs the bathroom we used on top floor was disgusting the beds were rock hard there was only 8 chairs round table wudnt stay here again

I am writing today to complain about our stay at Staffordhsire Getaway. Firstly, when we arrived inside the property we noticed the level of cleanliness was very poor. There was dog hairs on the sofa/floor, food left in the sink, stains on cushions, fingerprints on cupboards and you could see the floor hadn't been mopped. Also, on the website it claims they have added a 'luxury coffee machine so you can enjoy a delicious coffee each morning' well there were no coffee pods to be found so felt disappointed that these were not replaced. The website also claims 'you'll find a luxury space in the bedroom, you'll enjoy your nights sleep, king size bed boasts premium bedding'. There is nothing premium about two single beds pushed together with the most uncomfortable spring mattress'. The fact we had to pay a security deposit to be able to stay in this place is absurd as the standards were so LOW. Secondly, we didn't actually manage to stay the night, we had to sleep in the car with our dog, due the flat above. The walls are not very sound proof, we could hear a bunch of men stumble upstairs in the early hours of the morning, and continued to shout, move furniture until 3am, which we then felt forced to sleep in the car. Due to the noise they made, it made our dog very anxious and on edge, and he would bark at them making noises, so then the people above would give us verbal abuse, swearing, calling us names, making us feel extremely unsafe and vulnerable. We know this is not directly the hosts fault, but online this is labelled as a 'relaxing stay' and it was instead, quite traumatising. We would like a full refund for our stay as we did not actually 'stay' here, we had to leave in the early hours to our car on the road which felt safer than the flat as we felt so scared. We then had a sour taste in our mouth and wanted to go home as soon as we woke up, so we stayed in Whitby for under 24 hours, when we live over 3 hours away. I strongly believe that the provider, whether that's the host, booking.com, or host and stay can enable us a refund due to the factors above, which has made this the worst place we have ever stayed. I hope that this complaint can serve as a huge opportunity for improvement. I kindly request that you investigate this matter and take the appropriate matters to rectify the issue, and provide us with a sutible resolution. I expect to receive a response within a reasonable timeframe addressing the concerns above. Thank you for your prompt action and cooperation. I look forward to a timely resolution and a renewed positive experience.

I did give Host and Stay the chance to reply to me before doing this review but they chose not to. I informed them of the lack of wired in smoke alarms in the property and the fact the battery ones did not work. I have also reported this to the council because after being in a fire myself and knowing the importance of smoke alarms I wouldn't forgive myself if I hadn't and something had happened. This was my major concern although there were other little niggles but obviously my big thing is the smoke alarms and the lack of response from the company. They just want the commission and the glory but don't want to deal with the problems! I'm afraid I won't be voting for you in the award category you requested via email either. Thanks

Charge £95 for cleaning. Previous guests dirty towels hanging behind doors. Supposedly clean towel badly stained. Disgusting stain on mattress protector. Dog friendly policy not made clear until after booking and too late to cancel without loss of payment! Charge a £250 damage deposit and retain £10 admin fee - again not clear at time of booking. Downstairs toilet not flushing correctly (reported by a previous guest months earlier) Router and connections on floor in a tangle of cables - neither child nor dog safe No working exterior lighting No complaints entertained unless you make them whilst still at the property.

We had an utterly distressing and traumatising time because of the faults of this property. While we were sleeping, somebody had accessed the property through the back door, stolen my car keys and car. This was due to the back door being faulty. When we looked at the reviews for the property, we had seen that two other guests had complained about this issue and obviously it had not been fixed. This meant we were stuck two hours away from our home with no car and no means of getting back. When we contacted host and stay about this they were very unsympathetic and only seemed to be interested in getting us out of the property for 10am so that they could get ready for the next guests! I had to instruct the police to ring the company and tell them that we had to stay longer as part of the investigation. I feel sorry for the next people staying here because now there are burglars at large who know full well they can access the property! Stay clear!

Customer service is terrible. Asked to speak to supervisor on a few occasions and not once was I able to speak to one. Absolute disgusting service. I was over charged for my stay. Won't ever use them again. Also property was nothing like the description

DO NOT BOOK HERE IF YOU WANT A RELAXING STAY! Disgusting customer service. There was a fire alarm going off in the property the entire time during the stay. We were only told this AFTER booking and since the constant alarm is so loud i have tried to ge thelp from them every day snd their solution was entirely unacceptable. I had to escalate it to Booking.com who couldn't even get them to reply to them. Extremely loud noise in one of the bedroom when the room above used the bathroom and was lound enough to wake you up! Sofa bed said do not use this sofa bed as a sofa bed. Had to book a hotel for the rest of the stay as the alarm was too loud and the property was unhabitable. DO NOT BOOK !

From arriving to be told I had to pay an extra £25.00 this had to be paid before they would send me the code for the apartment. This was never indicated during or after the booking. When entering the smell was not pleasant at all, had to go out to get some fab breeze, the carpets and cushions were full of stains No mattress or pillow protectors on any of the beds, which resulted in not pleasant smells. Mold in the shower. The soap holder was full of rust. I get a call from a gentleman who said i can send a cleaner in. I did point out that this was a no as why when I have paid to stay in a CLEAN place should I have to then leave for them to do a job that should have been done before we arrived. Then to top it all someone knocked on a door that was locked in the hallway inside the apartment at 7.30am. Needed a very much relaxing short stay far from it.

We had to complain to Host & Stay regarding Holmedene in Muston near Filey. the cleaning condition which we were charged £125-! Very disappointed with this house. There were cobwebs all around the house we have pictures of proof, wooden blinds not dusted in weeks which we took a video of one set, 2 glass lamp shades on landing covered in dust must be months of dust! a marked mattress protector in master disgusting to know we slept on it! master en-suite shower curtain all mouldy needs washing on a hot wash or a new one buying, (I’m sure one of the other guest’s reported this online few weeks ago) again we have pictures of all of these, part used food left in the freezer. a babies dummy left in master bedroom wardrobe, a torch left on the window sill from last guests. Also the condition of plaster walls marked & need painting in all rooms. Skirting boards all marked around the house. then marked / chipped from door handles/ door hangers in few rooms, no soundproof in the whole house so if you need to make a call while there or are light sleepers this isn’t the house for you. The resident neighbours are very noisy and sounded like a football match had been there all night & next day. There was a damaged freezer box, the fridge bottle shelf could not be used hanging off which we took pictures. The office chair was in a dreadful condition looks like an animal has clawed it for ages, I’m surprised they left it in the house, we have pictures. Marked oven trays, 3 marked pans we have proof. No logs left as a starter pack. No card or gift welcome basket, only 1 tea towel left & site mentions 2. Only one bin bag, 2 dishwasher tablets. In the past houses we have booked we have been left lots of lovely things in a welcome back inc chocolates, wine, food items & sweets for our child but not here. No blue bin for recycling and a passer-by offered to take them with her after we asked where it might be located. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and not able to have a later checkout even if we paid more. Only one request was to have an extra blanket because of health reasons gets cold & this not even given. Located near Filey & Hunmanby. The house could do with a bedroom chair in each room, along with a dressing table in each room. Size of the house was ideal for a family of 5. The beds were comfortable. But the cleaning staff certainly aren’t doing their job, we had to clean the kitchen and bathrooms before use! Waiting to hear back from the letting company Host & Stay since we complained. The most important thing the owners of any holiday home is to offer a clean house, this isn’t too much to ask.

I booked and paid upfront for a stay at Prospect hill apartments. Unfortunately my husband was made redundant unexpectedly. Obviously this is a challenging time so I approached for a refund as we were no longer able to go which was flatly refused. Given the unexpected curve ball that life had thrown at us I would have expected a little bit of humanity and human decency. It was a flat no. No discussion. Just no. They couldn’t have cared less if they tried. I asked then to Move to dates to hopefully enjoy a break when life was less stressful. Again NO. Apparently they couldn’t accommodate the new dates, however I could go on any site and availability was right there. Disgraceful humans. People book and pay upfront in good faith, we had no way of this would happen to us as a family. It boils down to sheer greed on their part. They pocketed our money that we desperately needed back at this time and couldn’t have cared less. I hope they sleep well at night. We were not refunded a penny and lost the holiday.

Complaint We stayed at 33 Montrose View Saltburn-by-the-Sea on Sea from the 2nd - 9th September 2023. When we arrived, we were shocked and so disappointed with the state of the house. It was extremely dirty and not the standard we expected. We contacted yourselves and were offered another clean for the following day but we had to clean it before we settled in and unpacked, so we cleaned it ourselves. Listed below with attached photos are the many issues we had with the property: - Floor extremely dirty including dog hairs and muddy footprints - Sofas both dirty with crumbs, dust and dog hairs that had obviously not been cleaned - All drawers, specifically kitchen dirty with old food and dust - All tables and surfaces dirty, shown in the photos attached when actually cleaned with products we brought ourselves - Marks and dirt on walls throughout house - Marks on the bath tub from old nail varnish that had not been cleaned - Shower screen dirty and broken and dirty - Both dirt marks and dog hairs on bed and bedsheets - Kitchen bin didn’t close - Fridge missing shelving and salad box - Washing machine drawer was dirty - Freezer was iced up and dirty - Carpets throughout were very dirty - Only One bin bags provided for the whole week and no cleaning products provided - 1 tea towel within the house house - No washing line - No welcome pack or milk provided, only sachets - House stated for six people, yet only 2 seats for outside and 4 place mats - No curtains in bedrooms, which meant street light shines into the rooms throughout the night We are honestly disgusted and so disappointment with the state of the house, it has had a massive impact on our one holiday for this year as a group of NHS workers that rarely get time off together. We paid £30 in cleaning products that we had to buy to clean the house ourselves to ensure we could stay and feel comfortable for the week. We will not be booking with host and stay again. Surly the cleaners report back to you about issues they find ?? Or maybe they don’t and that case you need to change your cleaning agency.

High street , Caernarfon Wales Host & stay booking was easy to use couldn’t have done it any easier. But sadly on our stay in wales our property wasn’t what we expected . We were greeted by the smell of damp, mould , dust , hair in the fridge and live and dead woodlice in the property . We contact Host & stay to be told it would be re cleaned but sadly it wasn’t . I contacted them again after a day . Communication with host & stay was good but felt let down by no action taken . Would book again via Host & stay but would not stay again at property .

We stayed at The Woodlands (Folkton stable cottages) in Scarborough. We arrived to an over flowing bin and an outdoor table which needs a scrub. The decking area to the side also needs a sort. When we got in, a musty/dirty smell hit us, not a clean smell which most people would expect. There was dirt/cob webs on the ceiling, up the walls, grime over the taps. There was a section on the wall which has dead flys stuck to whatever was on the wall. The mirrors need replacing, as do the mattresses. One mattresses is that old it has bobbles all over it, which you could feel through the sheet. The cupboards and draws need cleaning. The stains on the carpets need cleaning. The kettle has a brown ring around it. I went to hoover and even that was filthy and needs taking apart and cleaning. I could really go on. The whole place needs a VERY deep clean and some TLC. We were booked for 3 nights, We left after the first. The company who rent this out contacted me and said they would of re cleaned. We arrived at 4pm, my kids go to bed at 7pm and we needed tea. There was no way that place would be able to be cleaned in that space of time. Also the mattresses wouldn’t be able to be replaced. So, my advice. Avoid this place until it’s had a revamp.

Double booked by host and stay so nowhere to stay when we arrived. Eventually found somewhere 30 mins drive away. Not ideal. Now still struggling to get money back from them as accommodation they found us was cheaper. Invoice they sent us wasn’t the same price as the original invoice so we are still owed money. A total nightmare.

We booked a week in a holiday cottage. Arrived to find it had been double booked and we no longer had a place to stay. They offered no apology or help. We were left with no choice but to drive back home

Stopped in Beadnell last week August 2nd for 4 days. The house is in the middle of a housing estate nothing special We had no hot water throughout our stay apart from the shower. There was dog muck in the garden what put us off. We have never stopped anywhere before where they have asked for a £250 bond for any damage caused in the house or £25 in case any damage was caused. What’s to stop you once we have left the place saying we damaged this we broke that, will not be booking anything again relating to HOST AND STAY. We were not a stag group 2 couples 55-67

Very disappointed with our latest stay. Property was in need of repairs, peeling paint from previous damp spots, stained carpets, stained cushion floor, lumpy sagging mattress, blinds that wouldn’t open, missing skirting board, holes in the wall in bathroom, water inside kitchen light shade, leaking bay window in kitchen, horrendous leak from main bathroom into the bedroom that left wet soggy carpet and the most appalling smell of drains. We did report all faults but received standard replies and no maintenance man ever turned up to sort the bathroom leak meaning we were unable to use one bedroom as the smell was terrible and who wants to squelch over a wet carpet toget into bed on a night. Until repairs are done avoid Seaforever apartment.

DONT STAY AT THIS PLACE THEY WILL TRY ROBBING YOU 
we stayed at this place from a monday to thursday morning and didn’t enjoy it as much as we should have. the moment we got inside we smelt a very disgusting smell. it was as if someone had puked up near the entrance and hadn’t been cleaned properly . this wasn’t a good start but we just did some spray and tried carrying on with our trip. when we got to the bedrooms we realised there was no locks on the door which meant we didn’t have full privacy but we didn’t mind too much as we knew each other. When we did decide to go to bed they were very uncomfy in most rooms and we struggled to sleep. these were some of the little problems we faced but the main ones were when we left the place. the customer service is absoulately disgraceful even before we went on the trip we rang them and the lady speaking from the company was speaking to us in a very awful way which made us all feel disturbed and uncomfortable. when we did get home the company started to send us pictures of things which they told us we had broke but we knew for sure that we hadn’t broken any except the ironing board which was already half broken whilst we were using it. to say it’s a very expensive house some of the things that were included inside there you would of found in a council estate house where the people are on benefits and are struggling to buy decent equipment. They tried making us pay extra and still are trying to get more money out of us for things which were already broken. one of the other things they said is we damaged the chair because we left it outside but when i checked it there was no damage on there just the smallest piece had been abit damaged but over time these chairs do get damaged so that is normal. do not ever stay at this house even though it looks very nice you will not enjoy it a single bit. also whilst we were there 2 showers had issues with them and they had to send an engineer which came at 8 in the morning and woke some of us up. they should have sorted that shower before we got there as it stopped us from using it for a day or two.
