Easy to use website and the plants (5) were packed carefully. The majority of the plants arrived well but the Calathea arrived damaged and I’m still trying to make it look alive again. Not sure if I would buy again, sadly.

I'm hoping order will arrive soon - house name not on address label and returned to sender by PO! Don't know if it was my error or theirs. Suspect plant will be dead.

I bought two large planters - one to keep and one as a Christmas present. The one to keep is fine but the one bought as a present was disappointing. The rim is quite rough in places and looks unfinished. It wasn't damaged in the post - it appears to have been made that way. It is not consistent with the photo on the website in which the rim looks uneven but intact and properly finished. Both planters came in huge cardboard boxes, 50% of which was empty space. Surely a company specialising in planters can sources boxes that fit its products? You asked 'Did Hortology make my life greener". Sadly, no - it didn't.

Hi there I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with one of your planters. I have checked our customer contact and cannot find any communication from you on this, so it is difficult to comment specifically. However I can see that one order was for an Iris plant pot, which does have an unfinished rim effect and is noted in the product description as such? We have a wide variety of boxes suitable for very small to very large planters. The boxes are specifically designed for us and our packaging is made from recycled material. The size of the box needs to be significantly larger than the fragile ceramic pots to mitigate the risk of damage in transit. We have spent a lot of time testing and developing our packaging to ensure this is optimal, both from a protective but also an environmental perspective. Any less and the breakage rate increases significantly, resulting in more packaging to resend a new item to our customer and more fuel to deliver etc. I hope this helps. Kind regards Sandra

Sadly the item looked nothing like the product description on the site and so it needed to be returned. The returns process was a bit slow too.

Hi Lucas I have looked into this for you and can see that we acknowledged there was an issue with this planter as the manufacturer had changed the colour on this pot without us realising. We therefore arrange a free collection for for you for return for full refund. I appreciate there was a few days delay before we were able to arrange this for you. The couriers are very busy pre-Christmas and we were not able to immediately arrange a collection for you. I can see this has now been received and refunded for you. The items were a gift and the recipient was very pleased with the plant and the pot. However, I was somewhat disappointed with the dispatch and delivery and this would make me think twice before ordering a gift for direct despatch again. I allowed for the timescales quoted on the website but it took longer. It is difficult to be organised for delivery with this company.

plant is great and I love the pot I bought, the packing was pretty flimsy when it was delivered so some of the leaves were damaged, maybe improving packing or discuss better plan with delivery services

Plant and pots arrived safely. The pots are really nice and exactly as described and there is a good range of plant pots to choose from. Only downside is that an excessive amount of plastic packaging was used. Not as eco friendly as other online plant shops I have used

My first order was delivered fine but my second 1 item was missing. I like the site and the plants were superbly packed and came in excellent condition I would have liked more availability to search for pots that would fit the large plant I bought.

I was happy with all the plants except for one. The brasil plant which was the most expensive and the one I wanted the most. The leaves were wilted and many were brown. It was also very short. In the description it said 30 cm so I had assumed it would trail down, but it did not. I was very dissapointed and did send an email at the time but recieved no reply. It has been a month since then and it has thankfully grown well and looks much more healthy. But I still feel very dissappinted as it was not what I had expected would arrive and no one responded to me. I don't think I'd order from hortology again as the experience was ultimately very disheartening. I wish I had taken a photo of the plant at the time so I could show you how it looked. But, I think I only took a picture of the other ones. Thank you. I hope this review will prove helpful.

Good selection of plants and pots. Not the cheapest by far and not the best value for money. Very slow dispatch and delivery. I ordered during COVID so I understand things are a bit slower, but small businesses I’ve ordered from are doing things twice as fast as Hortology and at less cost. Will probably buy from Hortology again, won’t be my first choice though.

Plant and pot very good. Leaves were a bit marked in places not sure if calatheas are more fragile than other plants.

Plant was a gift for a friend and when it arrived by delivery van it had fallen over so a pot, clay and the plant arrived in parts

Very slow delivery. Continuing to blame Covid isn’t really an excuse anymore when 99% of other retailers have returned to normal delivery times. Product is quite flimsy.

Great shipping, packaged well, only issue is the plant I ordered arrived black at the base of the stems and rotted so fast I couldn't save it or get pictures to contact with. Everything else was perfect considering the covid situation.

The plant itself is lovely, and postage and packaging was fast. My only concern issue, and it isn't a small one, was that the plants roots were overgrown and breaching the supplied pot, which made re-potting very difficult and damaging for the plant.
