“I’m very disappointed with how my driving licence apostille was initially handled. Only one side of my licence was scanned, which caused significant delays and prevented me from completing my licence exchange. I travelled to the driving centre specifically for this purpose, only to find out that the document was incomplete. As I am already overseas, resolving this mistake has been particularly difficult. I had to contact you again, wait for the document to be redone, and have the corrected version sent to me by email. While I appreciate that you eventually corrected the document, the original error has caused me a great deal of stress, wasted my time and money, and resulted in an unnecessary trip to the driving centre. Most importantly, to this day, I still have not been able to receive my Korean driving licence because of the delays caused by this issue. For an important official document, I expected much greater care and attention to detail. I hope you will take responsibility for this mistake and ensure that documents are checked thoroughly before being issued in the future.”

We are sorry to hear about the difficulties and inconvenience you experienced. When we process a UK driving licence for an apostille, we would normally copy the front of the licence, as this contains the identification information typically required for the legalisation process. In this case, however, the authority handling your driving licence exchange required both sides of the licence to be included. Once we were made aware of this additional requirement, we arranged for the document to be corrected and provided the updated version. We appreciate, however, that by that stage you had already made a journey to the driving centre and that resolving the matter was considerably more difficult because you were overseas. We are sorry for the disruption this caused. Requirements can vary depending on the overseas authority and the purpose for which a document is being used, and this case has highlighted the importance of checking whether both sides of a driving licence are required where it is being used for a licence exchange. We appreciate your feedback and will take this into account when handling similar applications in future.
