“After my garden umbrella blew over & Broke, I started searching for hardwood dowel to repair it I did a quick internet search & came across G & S Specialist timber. They had an assortment of hardwood dowel from numerous tree types. Multiple thicknesses & lengths. So I picked the nearest colour to match the original piece and placed my order. My order arrived within three days I believe & it’s absolutely perfect, after applying some Linseed oil & trimming it to the correct dimensions you’d have thought it was the original piece. I was so pleased with the service & quality of the wood, I may replace Some of the other pieces that’s started to show their age.”

“This is a superb company with friendly, helpful staff. It is always a joy to visit the shop to look at the wide range of tools and wood on display. Because of Covid, I could not visit the shop to buy the knife I needed so ordered it online and it was delivered 24 hours later.”

“I’m a woodworker of decades experience in furniture making and boat building. I ordered kiln dried sawn European Oak with the expectation that there would be some cupping and warp to the boards....none whatsover!! A couple of shallow passes through the planer and thicknesser and they are perfect. Quality of wood is great, a couple of very small shakes and a couple of small knots that cause no problem at all. The price of the timber was very competitive but what was significantly better than the competition was the delivery costs...under £10!! Fantastic. Would recommend the product and the service anytime and will definitely use again.”

“I placed an order on the 26th July for dowels which I am still waiting to receive. Upon contacting G&s it seems my parcel was sent to the wrong address and I was reassured that they would contact the courier and get back to me on Monday. However, nobody made any attempt to contact me and instead I had to chase them for an update on my order. Not very happy with their response. I was told that they are waiting for the courier to get back to them. This isn't good enough. How long do I have to wait to receive my order, its already been a week. As a company they are not doing anyting to ensure I receive my order as a matter of urgency. G&s are ineffective, inefficient and lack sense of urgency. First and last time I will be using them.”

Good morning, Thank you for your review. I am sorry you have experienced issues with your dowel delivery. I can see from our records that the order was placed on the 26th of July, dispatched on the 27th and delivered on the 28th. On Saturday (1st) we received a phone call stating that you hadn’t received your parcel, we explained we would need to contact DPD on Monday. We received word from DPD after office hours on Monday that they needed to start an investigation as they were unable to determine where the parcel had been left, based on this we will be re-sending your order out today. I am sorry you have had a wait for your order but we are working as fast as possible to get it resolved for you. Kind regards G&S

“I noticed this company when l was searching for oak skirting boards and their prices were very competitive. I decided to add on extra timber boards to try save timber transportation cost. I do not regret my gamble on my first purchase with them. The products , packaging and courier charges were to notch. Well done to you! I hope they won't be overwhelmed by orders to compromise your good service .”
