I have ordered ladybird larvae a few times and had no problems. Unfortunately my last order for larvae placed on the 9th of April paid through amazon pay never appeared. The payment for £17.50 was taken from my account the following day. By Friday the 18th I still had nothing delivered. I spoke to an employee who said some orders hadn’t been transferred. My fruit tree has been decimated by aphids, I don’t understand how you can receive payment and not dispatch anything !!

It's a shame that this time ordering caterpillar refills, there was a problem with the order being despatched. I was very happy ordering via green gardener because they act as a go-between, which is helpful when you have a disability. Having previously ordered a few refills last year, they were always delivered quickly and when my recent order had not arrived I emailed out of concern. The reply was polite and affirmed that it would be looked into. Sadly, I had to follow-up with another email before green gardener actually contacted Insect Lore to find out that there was a problem. Having to rely on internet shopping, I don't like having to chase up nfortunately I am no longer confident ordering with green gardener.

I was disappointed that the leaf sacks came in plastic bag, not cardboard. I had ordered the sacks from a different company previously, and they arrived without plastic bag.

We did as the instructions said, unfortunately it didn,t work. The weather had been very dry and the soil was not at the right temperature. The birds still come. We are going to do it again in the spring and hope it works. Any tips from you would be appreciated.

Thanks for the message and I have checked the order and it was for Vine Weevil Killer but birds do not normally dig them up as they are too deep. Is it vine weevils you are trying to control?

Service and delivery is excellent. As to the efficacy of their products, well, the jury is still out! I have given my lawns an autumn and spring treatment of Leatherjacket Nematodes, applied exactly as per instructions yet this September produced a crop of 100s of emerging Craneflies! Snake Oil? I don't know, and I will persevere for another year but I await next Autumn with interest.

To ; Kenneth Jones From : Jonathan Thanks for the message and a Leatherjacket infestation builds up over a number of years i.e. they mate and lay their eggs back into the same piece of grass so by the time the infestation is bad enough to kill the lawn it is a number of years old. The nematodes are very effective but it will take a number of applications to clear it but the situation should improve each year. Fingers crossed you will not need an April treatment next year and then a couple more Autumn treatments (this is when it is most effective) will clear it. Please let me know how you are getting in (jon@greengardener.co.uk). Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener

Good service, but I kind of assumed the product would be chemicals free ish, but it’s not. It seems to only not have glyphosate. That’s good, but I assume, maybe wrongly, that being ‘green’ nowadays means being aware of the effect on chemicals on humans and not just the environment and therefore moving to natural products which don’t cause chemical load on the body.

The product I ordered, ladybird lava arrived promptly. I followed the instructions in treating our apple tree. The most effective item was the use of a Grease/Glue Band. I wish I had known this was required before buying the lava as having to buy one caused a bit of a delay. The apple tree has improved but we have not seen one ladybird that we think has come from the lava.

Green Gardener customer service and postage were great. Unfortunately well over half of the lady bird bugs were dead when the package arrived. I did contact the supplier to see if they wanted to respond before I placed the review but have not heard anything yet.

I have been using Green Gardener for a few years and they have always been good. My latest purchase has not yet arrived although I was notified that it had been sent a week ago.

Moss Off is described as suitable for year round use, but the instructions say it is essential for the product to dry completely to work. In the Autumn/Winter it is extremely unusual for a lawn to dry fully as dew lingers all day. As a result I have not applied it yet, which is a little disappointing.

Ordered two items, only one arrived. After about 12 days I telephoned, to be told that the second item had been dispatched. This was not the case. I received the item a couple of days after the phone call. I think this was one of the very rare mishaps. I have dealt with your company in the past without any problem.

I am usually very happy with Green Gardener but this time, when we had a fungal infection in a pear tree and had to pull it out, we wanted to treat the other fruit trees next to it so I purchased a recommended product (Green Gardener advice is excellent) online. Sadly, it never arrived, which may have been the fault of the Post Office and not of Green Gardener. After two weeks of waiting, I called and hey sent more but by then, with autumn approaching, it was too late to use it. Maybe next year but I hope we won't need it!

I released 50 ladybirds into my garden but have not seen one since!

Thanks for the message and it is totally normal for the ladybirds to disperses once you release them, so they can get on with their job i.e. eating and breeding. Green Gardening and releasing living predators especially is a leap of faith, so rather than seeing more ladybirds, success is the lack of pests, so keep avoiding chemical sprays and as the ladybirds breed, over a period of time the number of beneficial insects in your garden will increase (and you will see more ladybirds) and the number of pests will decrease. I hope this helps Jon @ Green Gardener

Difficult one this! Whilst Green Gardener supplied the requested Ladybird larvae as requested (2 packs) they are very young and very small (minute) I placed them with care as instructed and within a couple of days there were none left! It appears the Ants protecting the aphids predated every one of them almost immediately. My money wasted!! Green Gardener have since advised me on the Ant control, however this would have been nice beforehand which would have saved me time and money (also possibly my plants) Only advice I can give is BEWARE the Ants and consider them before purchasing any controlling Larvae

At the moment it is difficult to say how successful my ladybirds have been as I released them into the garden and after a few days have seen no sign of them ! I will think it's been worthwhile if I see a population in my garden next year.

I got the lacewing lavae for aphid control because it says in the brochure that they are for use in both greenhouses & in the garden. But to be honest i was pretty disappointed - they arent really suitable for use in the garden - the instructions tell you to cut up the cardboard waffle they come living on, & put the pieces onto the plants... but this is almost impossible outside as even on a low wind day the pieces just blow away! I tried to nudge the larvae onto the plants themselves, but again they are so tiny that they simple fall off or are almost impossible to move without squashing them. I'm sure if you have sizeable plants in a greenhouse they'd be brilliant as the instructions to tap them out over the plants & cut pieces of the cardboard/membrane out to let the eggs hatch & the larvae crawl off, would be appropriate but outside on an average day in may they were useless. Most of them ended up on the ground, squashed or just blowing about bits of paper in the wind. So they were a total waste of money & I'm very disappointed, if i'd known i'd have waited to order later in the yr when weather conditions were more conducive, or simply stuck to ladybird lavae which are that much bigger & more appropriate for outdoors

Still waiting for my order so a bit premature to write this review, however, the order was placed a week ago so things could be delivered more promptly and email correspondence regarding delivery dates would be useful.

Thanks for the review and this order was posted to a company address last week, so I have emailed you directly to check the address? Please can you check for my email and then let me know if they have ever arrived. Jon @ Green Gardener

Arrived in time but there were no instructions in the package, small white paper bags were enclosed, what were they for? There was no oxygen available for the insects so I think some have died, I didn't count the live ones. Obviously because they are just the lava I won't know for a while if they will mature into ladybirds, I have put them on my conservatory plants in the hope that they will eat any nasty bugs which seem to have enjoyed eating my plants over winter, if they do I will report with a more positive rating.

Thanks for the message and the ladybirds are being dispatched direct from the breeder while order volumes are low (it is very early int he season for ladybirds) but they should have included our instructions, so apologies if they were missing. You did the right thing releasing them onto your plants and they do arrive very hungry and they do sometimes eat each other (hence the dead ones - we include extra and there is loads of oxygen for them), so fingers crossed they have made light work of your pests? Let me know how they are getting on? Jonathan @ Green Gardener
