I have not received a confirmation email like other companies and I find it a little confusing. Just got to cross my fingers and hope for the best. Regards Barry

Dear Mr Walker We have checked this for you, we can confirm an email was sent to the email address provided at the time of taking out the policy. The email was sent at 18.25 on 17/08/17 please check your junk/spam box as it has been known for emails to drop into these. Regards GEM membership Services

No idea at the moment, bought a car and declined the addon from the RAC and then when I got home I realised that GEM does not have any automated website to allow purchases on the weekend. Use of the car would probably be ok with nothing to worry about, but would have been nice to get cover from when I had bought the car :) Will probably update if I need to use their service. One thing I did like was the cover of illness or injury which none of the others seem to cover

Dear Member, Thank you for taking the time to post a comment on reviews.co.uk. Unfortunately, GEM do not offer immediate cover. The Policy does not start until midnight the following night irrespective of which day of the week you join. Regards The GEM Team.

BEEN A MEMBER FOR A YEAR SUDDEN INCREASE IN PRICE, WENT ONLINE TO FIND ANOTHER SERVICE GEM WAS OFFERING THE SAME SERVICE FOR £50 CHEAPER SO RESIGNED UP TO THEM

Never had to call them out but found renewal confusing.thinl I ended up joining again. Price on line was cheaper than renewal quote which is unfair to existing customers.

I would like to have the option of receiving a discount and opting out of the magazine mailout . Surely there has to be a saving for this option ?

good from the point of view that both my wife and I can get joint cover in one policy. not so pleased with the fact that it costs £120 and you still have to print your own documents, that strikes me as penny pinching on Gems behalf

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We would like to point out that because your cover with us is Personal and not vehicle specific it enables you to be covered driving any vehicle (as long as that vehicle is covered under our terms & conditions). Therefore giving you far more flexibility than being restricted to cover for just the one vehicle.

Service has been OK on the very few times of called on it over the last few years, the only negative being the very long wait. However, I do object to being charged more for a renewal than if I purchased the same cover as a new customer.

Much the most important event in the last year was that we had to be assisted following a breakdown. I would rate this as between acceptable and good. We had quite a long wait as the breakdown truck came from quite some distance (from east of Edinburgh to about 16 miles west of Edinburgh), but once the truck had arrived, it all went pretty well. Otherwise, we had no other dealings with GEM during the year until renewal, which went very smoothly.

In the last year I had to call twice, due to your garage putting the wrong part on my car ! Your call centre ask two many questions. Name / postcode/ membership number. Should be enough. There isn't a good time to break down. Little empathy goes a long way.

I was unhappy with a 10% increase in my subscription fee particularly as I have never called on your services.

I am unable to offer a full service review as I have not had a breakdown. My experience (fifty years) suggests that you mainly have breakdowns when you have no cover and or no maintenance. I hope I never have to use the service

I haven't used the service yet,just the website. Couldn't print off a confirmation and I thought my subscription would be going out 29th September, not 29th August... but it's gone out now. Otherwise, it was an easy website to use.

Never actually had to use service last year so can't comment on that. How wasy renewal price 10 pounds higher than that of a new customer? Signed up again as a new customer needless to say
