“The Norman victory, where William the Conqueror defeated the English King Harold Godwinson Year - 1066 King Harold died - some say by an arrow in the eye? More likely by a sword. Location: The battle wasn't in Hastings but about seven miles away on Senlac Hill, now the town of Battle, where William built Battle Abbey. Oh, by the way - I renewed my car insurance with Hastings this year. They were competitively priced on one of the comparison sites.”
