“Been using Hastings Direct car and Home insurance off and on over last few years.
Policy are OK, nothing special. Pricing is good until.you come to renewals, I have to leave for year and then come back to get decent pricing via comparison sites and directly. Very frustrating as I don't want to spend several hours searching for better cover, pricing and features every year.
Their support when needed (Usually via app and then phoning) is good. Though not had to make a claim, Thank God.
I would recommend them, it would be 4* if existing customers didn't always get shaf#'s by Insurance companies and underwriters.”

“I am not comfortable with the you drive policy. It seems that this policy is more about insuring the driver and not the car. I will fully be expecting to receive major reductions in my next years premium due to having to disclose my driving data and be judged everytime I drive my vehicle which I have always done with full compliance with all traffic laws.
The reason I opted for this policy was to give my son a chance, a provisional licence holder the chance to drive. With him being a provisional licence holder and learning to drive he will obviously make mistakes in the way he brakes and accelerates for example. This will no doubt increase the average score and therefore already has us started on uphill battle to get the full benefit from this policy.
We will review this as we go and if this isn’t the right policy for us then we will cancel the policy.”

“I took out car insurance for my first car and the policy was easy to buy and very good for value for money. My black box came quickly and the app is great to see how i am driving and helps me to be safe on the road.

“Neglects to tell you about extra charges and then say “it’s stated in your policy “ but you don’t get your policy until you make a payment!!
Maybe you should be fully transparent with people when you give a quote”

Like most other insurers, our fees cover some of our business costs, like staffing our contact centres, managing your policy, and maintaining and developing our systems. We try to keep our fees in line with other insurers.

“If I could rate no stars I would. Made a black box policy very ambiguous online, when I wanted to cancel it (prior to it starting) was made incredibly difficult - no one answers the phone and then spent 3 hours on a live chat just to request to cancel since it takes advisors 40 minutes to respond to each message. Also told they wouldn’t cancel and start processing the refund until the day of the start of the policy??? Makes no sense. Absolute waste of time.”
