“Took out the youdrive policy for my daughter. After 2 weeks she only drove 4 times (2 journeys) and 7 miles in total as fuel prices have gone up and where possible she tries to walk to reduce her carbon footprint. Hastings contacted her today to say that they may cancel her policy as her braking was not showing as acceptable. I explained that she had to brake hard once during the 7 miles total distance to avoid a car that pulled out in front of her and clearly this effected her algorithm score. Hastings told me she should be driving the car more often to balance out the averages!! How ridiculous is this statement as surely the less she drives the less chance of an incident and better for the insurance company! Absolute waste of time and money DO NOT TAKE OUT A YOU DRIVE POLICY!!!!!”

Hi, I’m sorry you’re unhappy with the terms of your YouDrive policy. Because YouDrive is slightly different to a standard car insurance policy, we appreciate that it’s not for everyone. We make our terms and conditions clear before you buy any of our policies. If you’re not driving the car, you could register it as SORN so you don’t need to insure it.
