“My insurance policy ran out in may with go skippy around 2 days after my last payment went out I sent a letter just saying I don’t want to renew and policy number on it and I cancelled the direct debit , this month I looked at my bank and seen go skippy has set up a new direct debit ( my name on my bank is xxxxxx now they have it down in my old married name xxxxx) so I cancelled that direct debit as I renewed with a different insurance company , I got emails of them but I didn’t open them as my policy had ended , I just thought they would be offers ect , My fiancée is terminally ill so I don’t go on my laptop unless I have to ( I can prove he is really ill it isn’t an excuse ) I was shocked and stressed when the money went out of mu account which the bank paid me back , go skippy has just sent me 2 emails one saying I owe £135.86 and one saying I owe £185.86 both sent within minutes of each other, I don’t see why I should have to pay this as I did send a letter which stupidly I didn’t send recorded so I have no prove I sent it , I am so upset and stressed with every thing could really do with out all this , ,I posted the letter to Lysander house catbrain lane cribbs causeway bristol BS107TQ

Appalling firm, just try to cancel or change any details on your policy and you'll wish you had never been born.
Try to cancel within 14 days - they will do everything they can not to accept your cancellation. They even state you must send back to them the certificate that they sent you, by email, in order to refund.

“AWFULL. bought car insurance online at 7.30am in the morning was then told to send my docs over, rang them at 9,30am and actually got to speak to someone at 10.20 who advised that their company policy is not to mirror no claims, was then put through to another non English speaking department who advised that they cannot insure me unless i pad an additional £1100, i asked them to cancel it and refund me were they told me that it will cost me £20 even though the policy wasn't 2 hours old!!!!!
awful and very rude, please avoid, pay the little extra and go with a normal insurance company, sent 3 complaints since 30th July and still no response, no escalating to the FSC as they cancelled my policy 4 hours short of their cancellation process and left my car un insured. they are not a professional company and to avoid any run ins with the police or worse KEEP WELL CLEAR OF GO SKIPPY”
“I am trying to add my wife on my policy, but i cant get through to speak top someone.Looks like they have stopped trading.
Have left my number for someone to call me back but still waiting a month later .”
“Do not touch this company, my daughter has just had her car impounded and is facing court, due to the incompetence of this company, unknown to her they cancelled her insurance in July... she has paid upto November , has been passed from pillar to post on the phone with no one accepting any responsibiity, legal action will be taken against them , they are nothing but a shower of crooks. BE WARNED.”
“Hi,
My husband has been insured with goskippy for two years we decided to reknew after a year with no problems. However in our second year,9 months after taking out his car insurance policy my husband got a text from goskippy saying his insurance had been cancelled with no other explanation given at all for this cancellation. My hubby rings them up only to be kept on hold for 20 minutes and nobody answers his call at all, this phonecall used all £6.00 of his mobile credit. So we emailed them, put a online complaints form in and requested a call back to no avail. Goskippy aknowledged this via automatex emails and said someone would be in touch soon no one was at all, then we get a phonecall from goskippy stating the following that the reason why our policy was cancelled was due to a outstanding balance and that we owed goskippy £358 on our policy with no explanation as to why after 9 months we are only being told about this now. After more emails back and forth we managed to find out that even though the money was in the bank to pay for our car insurance in full goskippy did not claim this money at the time for the cost of our annual policy (this was done online and verified by visa)to say that we had paid and because we got our insurance documents through we presumed that the payment had gone through fine. However it obviously had not as nine months down the line goskippy cancelled our policy and said there was the above outstanding amount owed.We asked the bank how this had happened and they said that goskippy had not claimed the money their end, goskippy then tried to say that it had claimed the money but there were insufficient funds in the account which is a direct out and out lie on their part. After much going back and forth via email and not getting anywhere we said that we would not be prepared to communicate with them via email again and would be putting in a formal complaint against them in writing, by this point goskippy were ignoring all our online complaints and our requests for a call back this was for a period of two weeks. So they left us no choice but to put in a formal complaint and to threaten them with the financial ombudsmen service, after receiving our letter four days later goskippy finally phoned us back to say that we still owed them £358 and it needed to be paid they said that they would reinstate our policy in full if we paid up. We asked why this incident had occured in the first place only to be told that it had been overlooked in their audit as they do not have one every month and that it had only just been flagged up by themselves, because we were left with no insurance and no car for two weeks we asked if we could get a reduction by way of compensation and they said ok that we then owed them £308,I asked my husband to ask them to round this off to £300 and that we could pay it there and then, goskippy agreed to the £300 but said that they could not take payment the same day and that she would ring back the following day to take this payment nobody rung back.So my husband tried to ring goskippy the day after only to once again be kept on hold as we wanted to pay this amount in full as it has caused us a great deal of stress and upset . No one from goskippy has been in touch in the last few days its been 6 days now so my hubby has again wrote to them about this and we are currently waiting to hear from them as of the 5th of August 2015.This insurance company is a joke and trying to communicate with them is like banging your head against a brick wall but to no avail as you are either left on hold until your credit has run out or past from pillar to post by people with very poor english skills (usually a indian call centre, and these people cannot offer any real assistance as they do not understand the gravity of the situation at all, goskippys online complaints form and email system is flawed as you either get a automated response or someone who does not actually want to offer you any help at all and who is only interested in your money.Sending a letter is only slightly better to be honest as it got a response but not the positive outcome we expected.Goskippys phone number is a joke as it costs you about 10p a minute. They are a frustrating company to deal with and I would recommend to anyone thinking of taking out insurance with them dont pay a bit extra go elsewhere as it would be worth it for peace of mind.We certainly wont be renewing with goskippy again and will go elsewhere just because they are cheap does not necessarily mean that they are the best insurance company to go with. What sort of company can make a mistake on their part such as in our case to such a degree that it goes unnoticed for 9 months,I dont like companies that operate like this its no way to professionally conduct yourself at all.I just wish that me and my hubby had read the complaints forums sooner and we could have saved ourselves the bother, stress, upset and worry caused. If your looking for insurance then its quite simple dont choose goskippy we honestly wished we had not chosen them as our car insurance provider Jo”

“Avoid this company at all costs. Not only did I have to pay a large deposit to insure my vehicle, I was then left uninsured as they decided to cancel my policy at 19:35 in the evening, 25 minutes before their offices were set to close. Once I received this text message advising me my policy had been cancelled, I telephoned Customer Services, only to be placed on hold for 20 minutes, then once transferred to an assistant she told me they were closing in 5 minutes and she had no time to advise me on this issue. The following morning I contacted them again, (on hold for a further 17 minutes) to be told the documents I provided them we're not clear enough. Despite the fact no one had contacted me to say they didn't feel my documents were clear enough. I offered to resend the documents, only for them to tell me I would have to start a brand new policy and pay another deposit if I wished to send them my documents. Throughout this whole ordeal, the service I received was disgraceful and rude, the way in which I was spoken to was unacceptable. I am still battling with the company to get to the bottom of this. Please, avoid at all costs unless you wish to receive poor & rude service, whilst also paying a fortune.”
