“Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. Setting up Insurance with them took sooooo long. When it came to payment their system messed up and department dealing with it closed over the weekend! On the monday I went through it all again - they were almost about to change the original quote too. When payment had been agreed (I was paying a deposit and the balance at the end of the wek - to avoid the installments finance fee of £50 plus interest) the guy right at the end of the call said I'd be liable for the fianance fee!!! If I hadn't asked him to confirm the balance I'd have had to pay that!! Terrible terrible service and I hope to got that I don't have an accident as I'd hate to have to go through a claim process with them!
Save yourself the hassle - go with a company that know their 'a*se from their elbow!”
“Paid over £500 upfront. Cancelled after 3 months because I needed business cover, which they did not provide. Agreed to pay the £75 cancellation charge. Over a month on and they still haven't refunded me! I figure they owe me around £300. Called three times, each time get passed around a few departments, no-one can tell me anything, no-one seems to have any authority on the phone to do anything. Lodged official complaint with the Financial Ombudsman now.”
“Don't go with these insurers they are the worst ever to get back to you, charge u for changing a job and add on additional charges absolute joke I then need to chase them for making an error and they still charge me again”
“Rude and unhelpful. Seemed to delight in being deliberately awkward towards me regarding documents needed to validate my policy. However, I sent as requested but they refused my photo card driving licence as proof of my address! Even though I've had 2 previous policies with them, one just finished at the same address and have lived there for 10 years! They had all this information on file but threatened to cancel my policy anyway! Not happy! Avoid!”
“Worst insurance experience in 35 years of motoring. Company requested photocopy of No claims bonus, ok no problem. A week later they wanted photocopy of my drivers licence, 5 days to comply or I will be penalised £35, ok did that. 3 days later, need a photocopy of the back of my driving license plus front and back of my wife’s driving license or penalties will ensue. Next day email saying that there was a small discrepancy on wife’s name so that will be £50 to underwrite the policy. I’d had enough after 17 days cover I wanted to go with another more reputable company so I cancelled. This was also a nightmare, you are passed from one person to the next waiting 20 minutes on a premium line only to be told you have so write an email to cancel. I was fuming but my nightmare wasn’t over I had an email saying I owed £171 to cancel. I had already paid £98 for the first instalment plus £50 fees. Again I waited 25 minutes to get through to the finance department who broke it down and insisted that it was £94 broker fees £75 cancellation fees. This was on top of the £98 I have already paid. I’m still trying to sort this out. Do yourself a favour and use a reputable insurance company. These are fraudsters.....”
“I have contacted this insurance firm on several occasions about the details they hold on me. No response. I have made a complaint over the telephone about starting a formal complaint. EVA have been contacted and full complaint to be launched.”
“F g. Hopeless took hours to answer the phone. Cancelled. Had 7 months remaining on my policy. Got £21 back after there charges. God knows what would happen if you needed to make a claim. Avoid.”
“The prices for changing information is very expensive compared to other companies. I changed my vehicle on the insurance and the same day i changed it back to my previous vehicle (due to the car being a right off..just bought the car and was unaware of this) and was charged £50 for doing this. Was not even insured for more than 12 hours!!
Got quoted to change vehicle and go fully comp and was quoted DOUBLE, tried another company and got it ALOT cheaper!!
When I left goskippy to go with a cheaper company, the cancellation fee was different to what it states online! Online states £75 I was charged £195.55 When queried I was told that it's broker fees and interest. This was NOT stated online!!
I have just rang customer service and was on hold for 30 minutes!!
To get through to anybody via telephone is a ridiculously long wait!! Not very happy and satisfied with GoSkippy!!
I will certainly not be recommending GOskippy in the future!!”
“Not worth 1 star...rubbish company...you email all relevant information required repeatedly.they say they not received it.when they replyed to the email I sent....not recommended...seen to only respond to positive review.no attempt to respond to a negative review to see if they could have made improvements..”
“I do not think they even deserve one star. Go Skippy's service is appalling, and I would advice you not to use them. I had an accident a year ago, and I have only receive half of my money. At this point, I do not think I am going to receive the rest of my money. They owe me three thousand pounds. There staff do not know what they are doing and are unresponsive most of the time. In addition, they keep you on hold for hours on end.”
“I have been ripped off since the day I set my insurance up with bad communications it's cost me over 200 this month and my insurance was cancelled all due to admin
not happy and feel trapped”
“We reported an accident earlier this year. Nothing came of it, no claims from either party (a wing mirror was damaged), had a letter saying case closed with no repercussions. They’ve then, upon renewal, fleeced us out of an extra £170 premium because of this. Although my wife agreed to the extra cost on the phone based on the paperwork sent over, with the incident written in black and white on it, with the new quote. Now, they claim we have failed on a duty of disclosure from this call and have given faulty information, without the incident reported which is clearly not true as we paid the amount quoted for with the additional premium on it. If we don’t pay this fine under duress they’ll cancel the policy. What a terrible state of affairs. Absolutely disgraceful and clearly wrong.”
“AVOID Go Skippy LIKE THE PLAUGE!!!
First they sold me breakdown cover for £84 which my Van wasn't covered for as it was over 21 feet long (merc sprinter LWB). So when it broke down the RAC wouldn't move it because it should have been on a commercial breakdown policy, even though I took out business van insurance. It took from 5:30pm till 2am for the RAC to start to recover me home (4 hours to go). No fault of the RAC. All of Go Skippy offices were closed so there was no way of contacting them. At around midnight I got though to the Go skippy breakdown number only to be told that they were a contractor and hadn't had any new business from Go Skippy for a while. The contractor was nice enough gave me a number to ring but that was shut to. So much for 24hour help in an emergency. Go Skippy sold the wrong cover and all credit to the RAC they made a decision and got me home all be it at 6am.
Then after around a month I sold the van and brought a car. Called Go skippy to change the policy over. They told me that they couldn't change it from a van to a car. Ok fair enough. So I canceled the van policy and took out a new car policy. I was told that a refund of over £400 was coming to me from the van policy. I called Go Skippy around 10 days later to see where my refund was and was told the the van policy was still active and they hadn't canceled it. They then tried to calculate the refund from that date not the date I had originally canceled it meaning less refund. After I lodge a complaint the call was listened to and the cheeky ******* said "as a GESTURE OF GOOD WILL we be giving you the amount promised to start with. How kind of them to give me what i was owed and promissed!
Next they wanted a copy of driving licence so sent photo card copies. I received an email back say customer services were busy and would respond in 2-7 days time. 4-5 days pass and I get a text message saying that my car policy was canceled. I rang them within 10 minuets of receiving the text but all offices were closed. Rang them back the next morning and they said they couldn't reinstate the policy because because it was the next day. A cunning plan unfolds. All they needed was a code from the DVLA to confirm my licence was clean with no points, which it is. If they needed more information from me all they had to do was ask. I was waiting for their response which they said in an email from customer services could take 2-7 days.
So I paid around £300 for 1 months car insurance (total cost for the year was £900ish. With them telling me I owed them £14 still after paying £300 a 1 month of cover. it gets worse...
I then get a letter from them saying I owe £89.69. bringing the total cover for 1 month car cover up to around £400 !!!!!!!!
I was told that I would receive a text with the underwriters details (Southern Rock) to complain to them. No details were ever received !
So they don't cancel you policy when you ask them to so they can charge you more. Then they cancel it when you don't want them to and then they charge you more....
Every thing with Go Skippy is a fight. I dread to think what they are like if you ever have to deal with a claim through them?
Stay away and spend the extra £50 with a different insurer. It'll work out cheaper and the service will be a lot better. Been driving for 15 years, sometimes with more than one vehicle on the go and I have never had such bad service from an insurance company.
Lets hope Southern Rock's customer service is better, that's if Go Skippy ever send me their details so I can escalate the complaint.”
“The cheap price is true to the old saying you get what you pay for. The customer service is terrible. They will settle claims rather than on the evidence provided but more on the basis they cant be bothered steer well clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no doubt you will send me a renewal notice soon saying do you want to stay with us? PMSL fat chance”
“The worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Cancelled my policy and got a bill through for £156 for cancelling, when I called up they told me it was £116 when I asked why they had 2 different prices they told me they made a mistake and it was the larger amount I was to pay, very convenient. go skippy go f&@k yourself”
“Have been with this company for many years a few years ago had a minor bump wasn't just my fault but they paid the other driver out in full and never contested it and then bumped my insurance up after being with them for 4 years but I carried on because I didn't have time to look else where because I work long hour and then very recently I bought a new car and wouldn't entertain me with a new quote for this vehicle I was quiet happy to stay with them but had to go elsewhere go car insurance cheaper for new vehicle now when I rang them 2 weeks ago and spoke to a lady over the phone I was told to ring up on the 1st or 2nd of this month tell them I'm not renewing the policy and they would send me an email or copy of my no claims in the post and now they are saying that they can't I've got to wait until the end of this month which means now that my new insurance will now cancel my new policy and I'll will not be able to travel to my work as I rely on my vehicle this is all because I won't insure with them anymore they are a joke and a waste of time I am now going to be out of pocket as this can lead to me losing a contract and my job thanks a lot don't bother wasting your time with this company I am going to seek legal advice on this”
