“I just have come home from Gap 360 Thai Adventure (2nd-26th August) and I had the best time. Our tour guide Kung made the whole experience amazing, she was so knowledgeable, funny and organised. “I really enjoyed the experience that i had doing the south east asia 47day adventure. I am however disappointed at some of the places we had been taken to. Some places were so run down it wasn’t even worth taking us there and it always seemed like the included activities were the bad ones.
In malaysia we got taken to a “butterfly farm” which was seemed to be “ethical” this is not the case and there is no way anyone could be tricked into this. All the butterflies were dead and had been glued onto the ceiling and walls while they were dead. a lonely kangaroo was sad in a corner of a tiny cage looking so depressed and skinny. A sheep had its insides hanging out after just given birth to a lamb that was clearly struggling. The list goes on about how vile this place is. It’s disgusting and i’m so disappointed that gap360 are giving our money to this company. it is in the cameron highlands and will be writing more about this to gap30.
Apart from those downfalls i had an amazing time with all the people on the group especially the leaders kengkong,Lee,Viet,Prae,Tiva and wadi who made the experience so amazing.”

“I recently completed the Southeast Asia Adventure (47 days), which took us through Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore. This is my second time traveling with gap360 having done the Bali Intro trip last year with no issues. The first half of the trip particularly Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam was nothing short of incredible. The experiences were unforgettable, I’ve made friends for life, and our guides Mai, Lee, and Viet were phenomenal. Their energy, insight, and support made those parts of the trip truly special. I couldn’t have asked for better.
Unfortunately, my time in Laos completely changed the tone of the trip. While staying at Jungle Backpackers Hostel in Vang Vieng, our room was broken into during the night and my bag was stolen. It contained everything — passport, wallet, all my bank cards, driver’s licence, and all the cash I had for the rest of the trip. I reported the theft immediately to our guide, Lao, and contacted Gap 360 using their 24-hour emergency number. I expected some kind of support or guidance, but instead, I was met with indifference. Lao didn’t take the situation seriously and seemed skeptical that the theft even happened. I had to speak to the hostel reception myself who couldn’t help, as the place had no CCTV near the rooms. It should be noted that for some reason the reception had taken our room keys on arrival, meaning our dorms were left unlocked whenever we went out for activities during the day and could only be locked from inside the room. Our group raised concerns about this the moment we arrived, but Lao brushed them off.
Eventually, after Lao seemed to accept the bag had actually been stolen, we went to the local tourism police. After he had a short conversation in the local language, I was told that the Vang Vieng police could not help and that I would need to travel alone to Vientiane to file a report. Lao offered no plan and no clear guidance. I had to leave the tour and sort it all out on my own with no ID, no money, and no idea what was waiting for me.
I'm generally quite independent, but in a situation like this, I was scared. I cannot imagine how overwhelming this would be for a more nervous traveler and could see how a situation like this would put you off traveling for life. When I contacted the Gap 360 24hr emergency line I was expecting some level of reassurance or support, but what I got was disappointing. The woman who answered the emergency line was abrupt and snappy. She told me she was sitting in the car park waiting to go into work and asked me to wait for her to go into the office for her to help me. When she eventually did send information through, it was just general details about what to do when your passport gets stolen abroad - something I’d already found online myself before calling. Most importantly, no financial help whatsoever was offered. I had no money, no cards, and was stuck alone in a foreign country. When I told Gap 360 this, they suggested my parents send money via Western Union (a bit hard to prove my identity to the cashier with no identification!!!) Also as I am unfortunately not a silver spoon, my parents would not have been in a position to help me anyway. Also, I am not dense and understand that gap360 need to make money but surely there should be a contingency for situations like this. Thankfully, a girl on my tour generously offered to withdraw some cash for me so I could get by for a few days while I sorted out the necessary documentation in order to return home . Gap 360 didn’t cover anything. Not the emergency travel to Vientiane, the hotel I had to book, food, embassy fees, or the bribe the police demanded just to file the report. The local guide I was put in contact with in Vientiane to “help me” was clueless. I ended up guiding him through the process with help from the British Embassy, who were the only ones who I can say truly helped me during this time and calmed my nerves.
All in all, this ordeal has cost me close to £4,000. Between the stolen belongings, emergency accommodation, travel to embassies, fees for replacement documents, and having to rebook flights it added up fast. And when I finally returned home and replaced my passport, cards, licence, etc., I then flew back out to Asia because I had another group trip booked with a separate company. None of this, not a single penny, was covered or even partially supported by Gap 360. I was offered no compensation. The only thing they did offer was a curtailment note for me to claim back on insurance. Whether that will be accepted and paid out is still up in the air (claim pending) . I’d like to add that £4k is a massive amount of money for me, and was all of my savings that I worked incredibly hard to get in my gap year. If, like me, your parents are not well off and you don’t have a massive amount of money saved, I would be extra cautious before booking. Or at least have some extra money set aside for a nightmare situation like this.
The rest of the tour group also felt that Laos was disappointing overall. Many of us agreed that the country was underwhelming compared to the rest with very little to see or do, and a general sense of being constantly taken advantage of. We all wished we had spent that extra time in Vietnam or Thailand instead.
It breaks my heart to write this review because so much of the trip up until I arrived in Laos was amazing. But the way Gap 360 and their local partners handled this situation, I feel like others should know as the support was very poor. If you’re thinking about booking this tour, I’d urge you to go in with your eyes open. The destinations are fantastic, but if anything goes wrong, especially in Laos, you’re on your own.”

“I did the Thailand 18-day trip with GAP360 (Thai Adventure) and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. I had the most amazing time — the trip was really well organised, the activities were so fun, and every place we visited was incredible.
The group was perfect — everyone was lovely and so easy to get along with, and I really liked that GAP360 made it easy to check the age range and what kind of people would be there beforehand. The extra activities were always fun but not forced — we could do our own thing too, and our guide always had great suggestions for what to do.
A huge shoutout to our guide, Namon — he was brilliant! He knew so much about every place we visited but also kept things fun and relaxed. He really looked after us and gave me amazing tips for continuing to travel around Thailand afterwards.
The trip is pretty full-on at the start which is actually great because it means you get to know everyone really quickly — by the end it felt like travelling with friends. I loved every minute, especially the elephant sanctuary and the time we spent at the islands at the end.
