“Had amazing time out there, well worth it. I just found the planning rubbish. The last week on koh phangan was terrible. The hotel was in the middle of no where and for a "party" island, there wasn't much partying.”
We are pleased to hear that on-the-whole you had an amazing time on the Thai Adventure programme.
Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time on Koh Phangan in week four. We always coincide our Thai Adventure start dates with either a Full Moon or a Black Moon party with the latter being a little less rawkus for those that wish to enjoy the other activities the island has to offer not only the party life.
Although you chose to not go when one of the legendary monthly parties was on there's so many other cool activities you can do like sea kayaking, Thai cooking lessons, kite boarding, zip lining, Thai boxing, trekking, exploring waterfalls, snorkelling and boat trips out to the stunning national parks with its azure water and amazing islands.
Our popular accommodation is not in the heart of the party district but we did indeed choose this due to its relaxing location with infinity pools etc so you can recoup after the hectic parties if that is what you decided to do on Koh Phangan. For the other activities it's great due to it's accessible central position on the island.
Sorry if this highly rated and positively reviewed trip didn't tick all the boxes for you...
“Quick review.
Moving to another country on the other side of the world by yourself, where you don't know anyone, on a Holiday working visa is a big leap and can be absolutely terrifying for some.
I had unbelievably cold feet the week before I left for the Ultimate Oz trip with gap 360. There was some controversy doing a working visa with travel companies as reading traveling forums explain you don't really need them.
Regardless I wouldn't turn down going with gap 360 as they allowed me to take the leap and I know I wouldn't of made the leap without them. The ultimate oz first week tour was fantastic, the tour was great, lots of parties and drinks, and I made some really good friends.
What I would suggest is to have a plan and strategy going however be flexible and allow your plans to change. There were other travelers who went with the flow, worked on a farm and got fantastic jobs. However there where other travelers who had spent all of their money and who had a 9 to 5 job and where just surviving in Sydney.
If it's your first time traveling I would highly recommend volunteering abroad with an organisation. As volunteer organisations pay for your food and accommodation for your help. When you are on a working holiday visa you are just essentially working to pay for your food and accommodation, even though gap360 can help you partially you are on your own to find work.
However that's the point, it gives you flexibility and you have to push yourself to make things work, you are independent.
Overall
Gap360 create a great tour, make new friends, great parties.
However I would of loved an honest explanation how expensive this trip would be.”
“I traveled with Gap360 on the Thai adventure last year and had a absolutely amazing time which is what made me return with them this year on the South African wild adventure, however I was quite disappointed with this trip. The organisation overseas in South Africa was frankly terrible and we did not even do a lot of the things stated in the itinerary, for example you don't get to choose the activity you want in Sabie, it is chosen for you and we never had the chance to do the bridge swing which everyone in the group wanted to do and the only thing we did in Swaziland was go to the glass factory and go back to the reserve, we never actually saw the dam, bushman painting and the candle factory etc. With the microlight, the rangers left this to the very last minute to organise and I didn't get a chance to do it till week 4 and only ended up having a very short 10 minute flight. Also it took 12 hours to get to Mozambique (only should take 3 hours) because of the poor organisation of the reserve and forgetting visa money, having to go back etc. I really think you should have a few more days in Mozambique to make the traveling more worthwhile and a lot of people thought it would be better if the adventure week was moved to the 3rd week. I think the conditions of the stables are terrible and having never ridden a horse before, the trainer was very nasty to me about this. I would of enjoyed more visits to the community since I really enjoyed this, we only got to visit twice in the entire month, when I originally booked this trip a year ago, the itinerary stated we'd spend a week with the community and it would of been nice to of been informed as the itinerary changed over time. On a positive note, I met some fantastic people on this trip who will hopefully be friends for many years and where you actually stay on the game reserve is beautiful, the accommodation is lovely with comfortable beds and a powerful shower. The food is also really good too, very well fed and everyone had gained a few pounds by the end of the trip! Game drives were really fun, and going to Kruger National park was my favourite part of the trip. Overall I had a fun month, but I do believe improvements need to be made with this trip as well.”
“It was so amazing I had the best time. Some accommodation was very basic and I would of happily paid extra at a few places. The staff was really nice and was very helpful most of the time”
