“There was a good selection of fireplaces. I purchased a Pureglow Stretton in Oak, it is a good match for my furniture so very pleased with my purchase. Delivery as promised, the fire surround was well packed.”

“I wish you had picked up on the fact that I ordered an inset fire when the installl checker should have picked up that it wasn't suitable ?”

Hi Penny, Thanks for your feedback. The chosen fire is sold online as the Blenheim Chrome Inset Electric Fire; the product listing specifies that this includes a "built-in spacer [which] allows for easy installation against a flat wall with a 60mm rebate or a fully recessed installation with a 156mm depth requirement". As we're sure you can appreciate, we are Direct Fireplaces are primarily responsible for the supply of goods. While we can advise upon and help arrange local fitting, and while our sales team will always try and assist to the best of our ability in recommending products, we can't always account for every aspect of existing fixtures until inspected by the customer or an installer. “This is the third time we have purchased a fireplace from Direct. Each time it has been delivered on the day notified, has been left where we have requested ready for installation and has been perfect when put in position. Can't ask for more than that from any supplier. The cost saving compared to local providers is a huge bonus.”

“I found the product I was looking for on the website and completing the order was straight forward and quickly acknowledged. The product was dispatched but unfortunately seemed to be delayed with the carrier who failed to alert either us or Direct Fireplaces of the problem. When it did arrive one box was quite badly damaged. In the other box the contents (nicluding a glass fire front) had come loose in the packaging. It was a wonder no damage had been caused to the actual contents.”

“The fire I ordered, turned up, damage, ordered another one turned up damaged in the end. I cancelled the order. I wasn't overimpressed it was very flimsy, not the best quality.”

It is worth saying that the model chosen is one of our most affordable and that the overall build quality will often scale with price, more budget designs often being made to a price point. This isn't to dismiss the problems experienced in your case, and we can only apologise that, despite our having liaised with the supplier in order to source a suitable replacement, they were unable to assist on this occasion. We can see that our customer service team arranged a collection for the replacement fire on the same day that we were made aware of the complaint, and that a full refund was processed the following day. “Cannot provide a proper review as product delivered was discovered to be damaged either at the warehouse or in transit. Customer services have been helpful but now having to wait for either a replacement or refund, frustrating…”
