I am reviewing the booking procedure. I live in Australia and attempted to book a night's accommodation in a Sussex hotel. This was a gift for my son and his wife who live in London. There was a hiccup with the payment page so I emailed for assistance. I cannot praise Kate and Jemma enough for their advice and help. An offer to ring me ( in country NSW ) was tricky to organise due to the time difference and my unreliable mobile phone service which was due, in part to our current bushfire crises. My second attempt resulted in a successful booking ! Thank you again Kate and Jemma for your excellent customer service. Sue Guy Cootamundra NSW Australia

100% satisfied. We had a 2 night break and could not have been treated better. From our arrival at reception the staff have been 100% attentive and friendly. The food could not be faulted. The hotel itself is well maintained and we spent some time exploring the buildings, including climbing the 100+ steps to top of tower. Special thanks to Duggie who gave us a guided tour and history lesson. As stated all staff are of high quality but Clare in restaurant was particularly friendly- Chef became aware that our visit was between our 2 birthdays and we were presented with a birthday fruit platter. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotels featured are of a good standard, though I think the tariffs are a little inflated. The website is easy to use and the booking straightforward. My biggest objection is to the £10 booking fee applied. This voucher was a £50 birthday gift to me from my brother and I am sure he would be very irritated by 20% of his gift being deducted. Though I can understand a few pounds being taken for a processing fee, £10 from £50 seems excessive, especially since I could have contacted the hotel directly for NO fee. Please don't tell me it is in the small print.

Dear Noel, Thank you for your review. Our booking service fees are included in our headline prices, so are not added on after your reservation has been made. The price breakdown can be seen during the booking process. We know that providing excellent customer service is paramount to our clients but we do have to charge a small servicing fee to go towards the costs of providing "with you all the way" service. Our fees start at just £5 per room and vary depending on the size of the transaction, but will never exceed £36 per room, per stay. We include the fees within our prices as we prefer not to mislead with headline rates that can't be booked. Remember, whatever the service fee that you are charged we offer a price match plus guarantee which means that even including the charge, we guarantee best value and best service. While it is true that booking directly with the hotel there would be no booking service fee, to book the same offer with Carnoustie Hotel would have cost you £225, rather than the £175 you paid (less your voucher amount). We were given this as a gift but despite the large range of hotels it was frustrating to book one night in some areas . These should not show when putting one Night in the search box and it is only possible to book two nights.

We apologise for the frustration – should you wish to book through us in the future we will be happy to collate and send suitable hotel options across to you – do just contact us by email or phone and we will ensure that we meet your requirements. Some hotels in our portfolio do have a minimum 2 night stay over a Saturday night, and some apply a 2 might minimum to only a few of the packages they offer through us. We do show these when searching for a 1 night stay as the rooms are available for the date requested, and it may be that the person conducting the search finds a 2 night stay appealing if a particular hotel is of interest. Excellent communication. Requested a call back following day and Tony called me back. Tony called the hotel and gave me all the answers to my questions eg what’s the difference between the rooms. The Burgh Island Hotel emailed me straight away with confirmation of my booking. Let’s hope the hotel lives up to our expectations

I thought the website was well structured and easy to use. I couldn't book my first choice of hotel but you were prompt in letting me know and offered a couple of other choices. Neither of those were quite right so I returned to your website to look at others and found an alternative myself which I've since booked.

I found the website very informative and helpful. The booking process over the phone was easy and enabled me to ask a few questions about the hotel before booking, which were courteously answered by Victoria. The emailed booking confirmation was prompt and clear.

I have booked through Country Hotel Breaks many times before and it is always a great site to navigate. It is so easy to book with them and they always have the really good deals on the best hotels! When my partner and I like to book a short getaway, this is the only sure we use.
