“I had never of Clarify Car Hire or MoneyMaxim for excess rental car insurance until the Martin Lewis broadcast recently. I had a couple of email quotes from other companies for Spain car hire but I wasn’t happy with their T&C or add-on prices to clean driving over 70’s. Clarify was upfront with pricing and sent me some emails during the day telling me the status when a third party glitch delayed the booking. It was solved in a couple of hours. I got a phone call and an explaining email from Mark Bower of Clarify after I’d queried something (after misreading it!) and Mark cleared this up immediately. Based on my experience so far I am happy to recommend this organisation. I took our car rental and the excess insurance.”

“After so many issues with other car hire companies and losing hundreds of pounds , Clarify is a breath of fresh air No nasty surprises when you arrive at the rental desk, Easy to use website plain and understandable and Debit Card rental I will always use this company when travelling to the USA”

“Perhaps not a review aimed directly at Clarify, however it was via their services I was left high and dry without a car in Zagreb. Having prebooked using a debit card option, with zero excess and paid for the additonal waiver, I was collected (late) by the company they had placed me with, driven off site to their backstreet car hire depot, then informed they would not let me take the car without me leaving a further 350 euro deposit. I was not prepared to do this so the manager told his staff my paperwork (which I had printed) was incorrect and blamed clairfy. I was then driven back and dropped at the airport. I spoke to a polite lady at clarify and was refunded my £7 deposit, however they were unable to offer me anything else until 5.30pm onwards (this was currently 1pm). I ended up paying for a taxi and two buses which took three hours and needed to do the same to get back to the airport.”

Hi Luke, We could not be more devastated that you faced this situation - so much so that we have removed the company in Croatia who let you down entirely from our site. We offered the package exactly as we had been asked to by the hire firm - but you were told a different story on arrival. Whilst the hire firm have helped many other users totally successfully in the past we will not allow the possibility of a repeat of this - hence the action taken. This outcome is just so unusual - as a result of the efforts we take to avoid such instances - and we are so sorry you were impacted. The Clarify Car Hire team

“I went 20 miles to collect the car and I couldn’t hire it as have 8 points on my licence but wasn’t told this.I have been called today by a lovely guy from clarify to see what happened and couldn’t apologise enough that my booking didn’t work out.Really appreciate them taking time to get in touch and talk to me not just refund or email a standard reply.Excellent customer service”

As discussed different car hire firms have different rules - so it's always best to check whether your license will be accepted on a case by case basis. When we are made aware that there are points involved we check directly with the desk wherever possible - as sometimes its even down to local management approval!
