Do you vet you're client base before renting the boats out?? I think it was 5 or 6 of your boats went through the badin at Stewpony nr Stourbridge, west midlands today. Not one of the pilots were capable of piloting the boat they were on. I wouldn't trust them pushing a toy pram in toys are us. Scraping along the sides of the banks, scraping or getting stuck under the bridge. Most of all, churning up all the silt from the bottom of the canal due to lack of throttle control. I have never in my 57 years on this earth, seen such a sorry state of affairs, even Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles would of done a better job. I know one boat, piloted by scousers, was from the Napton base. I was torn between, disbelief, shock, horror, annoyance, anger, and couldn't believe that people so stupid, would be let loose on the canal with extremely little to no capability of piloting a boat. Surely you should check thier suitability and capability before letting them loose on our waterways. Most definitely the worst pilots I have ever witnessed at the helm of a boat. Disgraceful in fact. Making black prince look like a clown outfit who will throw anyone in a boat for money, regardless of thier capabilities. Let's hope you take this seriously and look into you're rental policies and clientele.

the worst canal holiday we have had, yet the most expensive!! The new boats are more like caravans ( very plastic cheap finish) most uncomfortable beds ever and very uncomfortable seating in lounge diner. Advised very strongly not to do the route we had been planning for weeks ( due to low water levels) yet this proved to be unfounded are talking to many boaters on the cut and after attempting some of the said problematic locks , only to find we would have been fine. We were adivised only one of the 5 suggested routes were doable … not great when spending £2000 on a week away … very anger about this as we would have been ok. Also we were made to feel terrible by a staff member for mooring our boat where another member of staff had said it was ok to moor… you really don’t need a ‘ jobs worth ‘ looking down his nose at you … most unprofessional. The toilet was rubbish and didn’t flush ( and really smelt and was unpleasant) I was also told over the phone by Mr jobs worth that there was a very tiny freezer on board so i based my goods that i brought around that, only to find it had a large freezer section. We were told the water tank was full…totally bit so, we had to fill the morning after we left. We got a large bill for fuel on top £120, very high as we had nit used any heating abs due to lack of places to sail to as being advise most of the suggested routes weren’t so able we spent two days not moving and sightseeing locally. We hire boats 2 or 3 times a year since selling our own boat of ten years and frankly this was by far the worst( and most expensive) boating holiday ever

Awful, worst boating holiday ever booked, very old boat with many ongoing issues, breakdown which resulted in smoke pouring from engine & accelerator causing delayed check in whilst awaiting repair which resulted in rude & arrogant reaction from a senior member of staff on return to base. Boats seem to be changed out very quickly after return check in, Covid safety should be questioned. Broken grill & toilet-advised “tricky” at handover. Estimated cruising times in welcome book highly inaccurate for present state of canals with increased users, should be urgently updated as very difficult to plan your journey as they are way off. Worst condition of canal boat I’ve ever hired. Very old. Only 2USB & 1 plug socket for 8 people. No toaster. Need to update their fleet if they want to charge over £1600 for three day hire. Not good value for money break and could not recommend to anyone. Plenty other good quality canal boat hire companies to choose from who will treat customers much better.

I have just had another one of your boats pass me at full throttle, the paint on my boat was scratched and a number of items in the boat smashed. The wife of the man steering the boat said they were doing nothing wrong. It's obvious this company does not care about the canal network or other user, no guidance for people who have never been on a narrowboat they just want the money. Totally irresponsible

We do have a rigorous induction process in place for all our customers, all our handover procedures are British Marine accredited, but we will remind all our teams to highlight the importance of slowing down when passing boats, so that we can keep the waterways safe and enjoyable for all users.
