“Unbeatable holiday for families - Our 4th BeyondBeach trip! We returned from our fourth family getaway with BeyondBeach. Traveling with grown-up kids now (aged 18, 20, and 21) can be tricky to pitch right, but the two-week combination of a sailing flotilla followed by a week at the beach club hits the spot perfectly. While the sailing week was spectacular, the week at the beach club was the true highlight for us. This year, our accommodation for the second week was the gorgeous Villa Kouvalata. It is situated in a truly amazing location, offering uninterrupted views and a beautiful pool that gave us some wonderful private family time together. We found the distance away from the main beach club to be no issue at all; it's a very short drive in our hired car, or the Lazaratos family would go above and beyond as always, kindly offering to pick us up and drop us off whenever needed. Their warm, attentive Greek hospitality ensures the club always feels like home. This is of course not forgetting the beach team led by Hugo and Nell giving it that real fun feel factor at all times There's a running joke in our house that each summer will be the 'last time' we take the kids, but BeyondBeach makes it so seamless that we just keep coming back. See you next year…..”

“Another lovely holiday at Lixouri with Beyond Beach. The family run hotel is friendly and attentive with comfortable rooms. The brothers and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The water sports team are great and work hard to ensure everyone is safe and having fun on the water. Flyn, Jack and Jess are great instructors. Loved the sailaway to another beach and a swim round the cove to a cave. Great place to try out wing supping too. The sailing regatta was another highlight. My only complaint was the week went too quickly!”

“Second time booking with Beyond Beach. After completing my bareboat skipper cert with them last year I booked again a bespoke 1-1 progression week with a second week at the Lixouri beach club. Absolutely first class thanks to Shirley, Hugo, Nell and Flynn and of course the wonderful Lazaratos family at the beach club hotel. Cannot wait to book a third time! Thoroughly recommend.”

“Had an absolutely fantastic time gaining my IYT Flotilla Skipper qualification with Beyond Beach. Kefalonia is a beautiful, unspoiled paradise and perfect for beginners. Our instructor Shirley was so patient and knowledgeable — it was clear we were learning from the best. We saw a pod of dolphins including calves on the first day, which was truly unforgettable. I wanted to experience all aspects of boat life, and Shirley let me get hands on with the systems aboard Sandpiper, our Bavaria 36 cruiser, in a way that went well beyond just learning to sail! This wasn't just a sailing qualification, it was an experience I'll never forget. I'll definitely be coming back to put everything I've learned to the test.”

“We had a brilliant wee learning to sail from Lixouri Kefalonia. We loved the quiet pontoon shared with other BB boats and some local fishing boats. The proximity of all amenities in the town was excellent. We enjoyed living life on the water and of course learning new skills from the amazing Shirley! Her experience as skipper/instructor was invaluable and her encouragement and patience coupled with sense of humour just made our week perfect. By the end of the week we had learned a huge amount and felt genuinely capable and comfortable on a sailing yacht. The next step for us will be a flotilla holiday with BB next summer. We would really recommend this holiday to anyone wanting to learn to sail in the most beautiful setting of Kefalonia. A brilliant week from start to finish.”

“We had a 10-day break at the hotel with Beyond Beach. We had the most wonderful holiday at Lixouri Beach Club. The hotel owners and staff were brilliant and looked after us very well. Hotel rooms are slightly tired and need an update. My two children, 16 and 14 had a great time and made some great friends. They spent all day out on the water and improved their sailing, wind surfing skills and other watersports considerably. Great for them to have the opportunity to learn in a safe place. Beyond Beach staff were brilliant. I also met some great other guests and we had a lovely week. Loved Lixouri and Petani - good eateries. We will be back! (need cooked eggs for breakfast)!”

“1st night offered dinner in the buffet diner. Food looked undercooked and not inviting. We ended up eating in the bar and this was ok but not great. 2nd night had an inclusive BBQ on the beach and this was ok . Tonight we had the 2nd inclusive also on the beach and what a poor standard, very limited choice very disappointed. Cannot fault the watersports or the staff but hotel needs to up their game in the catering department. Hotel is looking dated and needs some TLC. Bar staff on evening were not really coping and bar not that busy. This is the 2nd review I have submitted also negative and does not appear to have been posted”

“We have recently returned from our holiday to Beyond Beach. We had the most wonderful holiday at Lixouri Beach Club. Loved the fact that the hotel is family run, small, friendly. We felt so looked after. Our two sons aged 12 and 14 had in their word 'Their best holiday ever'. They made friends, managed to spend all day out on the water and have improved their sailing and wind surfing skills considerably. So great for the kids to have the opportunity to learn in a safe place. The BB staff were amazing. Loved the local area, we stayed for 2 weeks, so managed to hire a car for a day and explore. Lixouri is great for an evening out, with lots of choice of restaurants. We will be back!”

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Evia. It was our first holiday like this and hopefully won’t be our last. Great little Greek hotel, good food (and cheap!), lovely staff members. Nearby town was only 20 mins walk along the beach (although also possible to get a shuttle in/taxi back) and it had some lovely little cheap tavernas. The area is predominantly where the Greek holiday so not an English breakfast in sight 😅. The vibe at the hotel is really chilled and there are lots of places to sunbathe/swim/chill. Not a flash place but extremely welcoming and comfortable - basically what we prefer. The Beyond Beach staff were fab from start to finish - really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the watersports and other activities and you could do as much/little as you liked. Some good social events too but very low key which made it all feel very relaxing. Would definitely recommend BB and Styra Bay - wind was a little high at times which wasn’t best for beginners, but great for more experienced sailers. Met some lovely BB guests and by the end of the stay, you know most of them. Huge thanks to all involved and hope to be back one day :)”

“Amazing holiday yet again. Thoroughly enjoyed Vaujany for the second year running. Cannot fault the hospitality, felt like a home from home. Staff went out of their way to ensure we were looked after and as before a personal touch. James took our son down the slopes on a mountain bike experience, going above and beyond what we would expect. An added bonus was the chance to see the Tour De France this year! An amazing holiday and would definitely recommend. Thanks again!!!”

“Really good hotel and grounds,there is enough space/seating for many more people than are here.Staff are good, equipment is ok.The wind conditions here are challenging though,gusts and changing direction, so being an intermediate windsurf and sailor and 68 years young meant it was too tough most of the week.Shame as everything else was good”

“We had a great week sailing in Lixouri Bay on Sandpiper (Bavaria 37) in August 26 with our family and two kids - 12 and 9. The protected bay is a beautiful, fun and a safe place to learn to sail with plenty of wind and space for a week’s learning to sail. The BB crew are very professional, experienced and accommodating. They go out of their way to ensure you have a fantastic experience and holiday - that you learn a lot, safety is paramount and you enjoy yourselves. Shout out to Will who was our awesome instructor, and Shirley and Alastair too. There are lots of beaches and nice restaurants in the area and the day off at the beach club is a welcome rest and chance to sail the dinghies, which is a whole other type of fun! We achieved our ICC and would like to do the flotilla with BB in the future. Highly recommend.”

“Just returned from our second trip to Venus beach/stira bay with my mum (81!) husband and children (9 and 6) and we’re already planning our third trip for next year. Everyone - the Greek hotel staff, taverna and bar, and the BB team - are so friendly, kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. A special group of people. I love the fact it’s a greek hotel and you’re on holiday with Greeks as well as fellow tourists. No kids club (which we prefer) but a few sessions throughout the week for kids or teens to do if they want. Very easy to make friends and also very chilled - no enforced socialising or shouty activities! Relaxed vibe while also being efficient and well organised and safe. All the BB team are great teachers, my 9 yr old learnt to sail and was out on his own after a few days, and my husband and I massively improved our windsurfing and we had a go at wing too. Can’t wait to return, thank you everyone!”

“Amazing location and staff. The beyond beach staff are so friendly and knowledgeable - the activities are varied and great. The bay is so shallow and safe for children. The turtle spotting in the bay is great fun too, especially when they pop up next to your boat/paddleboard. Perfect for age 9 upwards I would say. Hotel is owned and run by a local family and you are made to feel so welcome. The food is also very, very good. We did loads of sailing and were challenged in a fun, safe environment.”

“We've just returned from two weeks in Kefalonia, one at the Beach Club and one on the Introduction to Sailng course. Both were outstanding. At the Beach Club the Lazaratos family were so welcoming and friendly, and the Beyond Beach Active crew were super-helpful and friendly. They seemed to be having the time of their lives and that was really infectious. Once on the yachts, our instructor Barry was great. Very calm (useful when I was learning mooring on the town quay!!), very measured, and full of anecdotes and insights into Kefalonian life. All four instructors across our fleet were very different and equally wonderful. The area around Lixouri is wonderful as well - we enjoyed going out in the town, and particularly enjoyed the local wine festival in Barry's village. We rate this as one of the very best holidays we've done as a family, and I'm certain we'll be back!”

“We had such a fantastic family holiday at Stira Bay Beach Club and would absolutely recommend it. We had some fairly strong winds during our stay, which my husband was delighted about as he got plenty of time winging and windsurfing! There was also so much for the children to do, which made it a really easy and enjoyable holiday for all of us. The team were amazing throughout, so friendly, helpful and brilliant with the kids. The food was delicious, the setting is beautiful and the sunsets over the bay are something else. We also loved being able to walk into the local town in the evenings, which was a lovely addition and made it feel like we got to experience a little more of the area rather than just staying at the hotel. A brilliant family holiday with the perfect mix of activities and time to relax. We’d definitely come back and have already started discussing next year! Thank you”
