“Lovely staff both in York city and Acomb, helpful and courteous. Full of useful information. Prompt service every time. A pleasure to do business with. It's lovely to see a real old fashioned style hardware etc store. A real treasure trove each time we visit. “This relates to a Rolser shopping trolley bought for my mother. I chose the colour red from the four colours on offer, not least because I considered it to be the most visible, and therefore the safest for when my Mum is crossing roads. There was nothing to indicate that red was not in stock. When contacted directly and told that only purple and black were available, she chose purple. I was not made aware of this until the trolley had been delivered to her. She seems happy enough with the trolley but could have done with a leaflet showing how to flip out the base so that the trolley stands on its own, how to fold down the plastic stiffener inside the bag and how to lift the bag clear of the frame. What appears to be a large pocket on the back is in fact the sleeve holding the bag on to the frame. On the plus side, Barnitt's delivered the trolley quickly and were far less expensive than other retailers. The trolley is remarkably light and a big improvement on the old style with wire mesh and tartan plastic.”

“I used your company twice over last year 1. purchase a zeigler carpet - this carpet took about 6 months to come into stock from time of ordering - this was a long long wait - when it arrived eventually it was fine 2. I purchased two left handed scissors from you and these arrived ok but again I had to wait for over 6 weeks for one of them to be delivered so - overall impression, you have good customer contact people - they kept me informed and responded quickly to queries but on the other hand you advertise products which you dont have readily available either in stock or from your suppliers so you are overselling and under delivering - ( better to undersell and over deliver dont you think !!! )”

“Received new rattan bistro set which consisted of 2 chairs, 1 table and 2 seat covers. Well packaged and in excellent condition. It is a very well made garden set and also very comfortable. Really pleased with my purchase but knew you would deliver.”
