“We took a Brinks Sun Charm electric day boat out for 7 people out. Beautifully clean and well presented boat. Inside was a toilet, sink and kettle. Also there was plenty of space to place our bags for the day.
We were given plenty of information before arrival. On arrival we were given instructions on how to operate the boat and places we could visit.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our day out and were very impressed with the staff who handed the boat over on the day and the information we were given.
We would definitely recommend using this company.”

“Arrival, hand over and hand back was smooth and easy. In general, the boat was good (Tempo 5) and easy to maneuver.
Not so good, the mattresses especially the one in the rear cabin were rock hard.
The boat could do with some hooks to hang towels and coats etc.
If you are hiring in the colder weather then bring some blankets as there were none on the boat, and we had a couple of chilly nights (you don’t always want to run the heating).”

“I booked our holiday through another agency, which was easy to do and information on the boat was good. After booking, Barnes Brinkcraft got in touch and I was able to get additional information and provide the boatyard with details they required from me. Communications were very good. On arrival, we were able to load our luggage straight away and just wait for someone to show us how the boat operates etc. Boat had good and bad points, it was slightly older, but we had a good holiday.”

“We hired a luxury Sunrise 6 seater boat for the day costing £240. The steering was erratic and needed constant adjustment, it was hard work, no fun and in my opinion, dangerous. I have sailed boats for years and this was the worst boat I have ever sailed. My friend, a beginner was unable to steer, Barnes said the boat was suitable for beginners. We returned the boat after two hours. Barnes said there was nothing wrong with the boat and refused us any kind of refund. We felt cheated.”

We take concerns about steering seriously. When we tested the boat, we could not identify a steering fault. We appreciate that this finding does not change how difficult you found it during your trip.
The Sunrise is advertised as a six-seater day boat with facilities including a toilet, fridge and hob; we don’t describe it as a luxury boat. However, we understand that you expected a comfortable, enjoyable day on the water, and we’re sorry your experience fell short.

I might think about an electric boat next time as the diesel engine did detract from the amazing scenery and wildlife but they have these too😊”

“The boat was shabby inside, faded cushions, shower drain which did not work properly so I stepped into cold water constantly, cover on my bed did not look clean, roof came off it's runners, mud anchor had to be repaired en route. But the lovely weather saved the weekend and I did enjoy it, though would not repeat the experience. Members of staff were pleasant and helpful.”

Thank you for your honest feedback. I’m sorry the boat’s condition let down your weekend. The cushions and bedding should have been better, and the problems with the shower drain, roof and mud anchor clearly added frustration to your stay.
We’ll arrange a check of the shower drain and use your comments to guide our winter refit work at the end of the season, including reviewing the upholstery and checking the roof mechanism and anchor equipment.
