No contact to inform that no car available, phoned to find out if everything was ok. Then told that no car was ready for me, also needed to pay for rental for my wife's carer as website says you can hire a car with someone else paying, this is not correct you need to add the person as a named driver, which incurs an extra charge , very very bad website if you search for a car and none are available there should not show any car available on the site, rather than lead people on to think that there are cars available.

The most atrocious customer service I have ever received . Hired a mini bus for a long weekend trip ,45 minutes after leaving engine warning lights came on and van wouldn't rev above 2000rpm ,soon being overtaken by everybody. Got through once to someone who had no clue and then called many Times more, no answer including recovery line. Got to destination after 8 hours of extremely caution driving , couldn't use anymore - hills too much,left messages again saying would have to leave van if no response ,guess what no response !! Brought van back Monday very slowly ,called on the way ,nothing and left it with some guy who said "sorry chap, didn't know nuffink about it" obviously no offer of compensation -please never use this shower of cowboys who are happy to take your cash to drive dangerous Unroadworthy vehicles- they should be shut down immediately.

Absolutely shocking company!!! Husband hired a mini bus which wasn’t even roadworthy, engine light on the whole time and every call and voicemail ignored. Even the emergency number didn’t work. Should be stopped from renting out vehicles. Absolute cowboys! Avoid avoid avoid!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS HIRE COMPANY. They may be slightly cheaper than others but they are so unprofessional, the vans are mostly not road worthy. They take your money and refuse to refund. Absolute con artists! The rest of the reviews seem to point to the same issues!!! Will be reporting them to the ombudsman.

I rent a 4 door car more than 2 month and i return the car without any problem no crash no parking violations etc. and allied car rental don’t return yet my $250 deposit im very mad i call a several times and nothing happens. Very bad service.

Booked a minibus for today way back in January, got a call this morning, 18th March, to say that the vehicle wasn’t available and that was it, no options, no replacement, a family day ruined. I am absolutely gobsmacked at the incompetence and lack of professionalism from a company I have used on several occasions, never again. Please think twice before booking with Allied, make sure your plans for the day are flexible.

I tried to book a car twice and the 10% deposit was taken from my account twice and then the reservation was canceled and the money was not returned to my account after canceling the reservation

I booked a car for collection on Sunday (June 19th), you are told to collect from the Brentwood office between 9-9.30 a.m. Nobody turned-up until 11.10 a.m., and then only because one of the customer's wives had done a lot of detective work on the phone to contact the only, the main office numbers got nowhere. The owner and his assistant arrived without a word of explanation or apology, and when I deigned to query what happened I was told I had a 'bad attitude' because I was unhappy with the 'service'. A mickey mouse company where the owner seems to think you should be grateful he bothered to show up. Avoid.

Allied assured me when I hired a van on a Saturday that I could post the keys through the door in an envelope and that I would not be charged for a 2nd day. I did as they said. They then charged me for a 2nd day. They are dishonest. I will never hire for these crooks again, and I would dissuade anyone from hiring them on a Saturday especially.

We have always used Allied for van hire and as much as the vans are a little dirty and could do with a clean the service and value for money has always been really good so we decided to try them for car hire, NEVER again! We booked a vehicle for my daughter based on what she was told over the telephone was available and received email confirmation including reg number of a 2008 Peugeot '21 plate vehicle. On the day when my daughter went to collect she was told the previous booking had been extended and the vehicle was no longer available, we was palmed off with a tatty Astra that had a problem with the locking system, the dash was showing a problem with the wheels/tyres and generally the vehicle needed some serious TLC (dents/scratches in nearly every panel). When complaining and asking to speak to a manager the staff were far from helpful. When we asked why they extended a booking if they knew the vehicle was booked out to a different customer the gentleman said there is no guarantee of what vehicle you will get on the day. If you book a new 2021 plate vehicle and then end up being given a tatty Astra that is not acceptable in my view. I would seriously think twice about using Allied for car hire and we definitely WILL NOT be using them again.

Firstly we was charged well over the quoted price, when we then collected the vehicle they advised of additional extra charges, despite asking over the phone several times was the quote inclusive of everything! Secondly the mini bus had the most disgusting smell and wasn’t that clean despite the current circumstances of being in a ‘pandemic’ you’d think it would of been a lot cleaner. Thirdly when we returned the vehicle we apologised for being late (2 hours, due to living over an hour away from Brentwood) and the keys we’re given back to the girl on reception (very rude and appalling customer service). A few days later money was then taken from my account without any notification from the company. Myself and my friend both called up 3 times between us and left a message to be told someone will get back to us and advise what the additional charge was.. of course it was only on the 4th phone call that someone got back to us and advised they had charged this due to being late, but did not think to mention this when we actually returned the vehicle. After speaking with the lady from the Brentwood site and her awful attitude I would never book with this company again. It is beyond me how you can work in customer service and be that level of rude. Definitely use this company as a last resort!

In side the cab was dirty and stunk, during covid times this is unacceptable the van it self was in need of repair, frount drive side wheel was Berely legal. Cracks on the wind sheeld 5 in total and the inside of the van smelt like a dead body had been moved just to say not impressed and won't be recommend this company.. Have complained but no reply.

unauthorized charges to my card. contacting them was very dodgy, passing me around from department to department, made an excuse that it was due to a fine, asked for a copy/ proof of the fine and received no reply... Avoid!!!

Dear David, It was explained during our telephone call on 08/04/21 that you had parked the vehicle on hire to you on a yellow line in Shorter Ave, Shenfield, a PCN had been attached to the screen by the council. As this had not been paid, the PCN was issue to us as the registered keeper. We reassigned the PCN to you, as per the terms of our Rental Agreement making the council aware who hirer/responsible person was. They would then correspond with you directly at the address given on the rental agreement removing our on-going liability. This information was emailed within one hour of your call. We do not rip people off with admin charges; but try to make a fair charge for the work involved. When you signed the “statement of liability” on the agreement you agreed to further charges being applied to the stored Debit / Credit card. I explained the team that deal with fines only works week days, some had been furloughed, and the supplying branch would not necessarily be aware of a contravention. I would urge anyone reading this review to look back over the last 400 odd reviews and not one person says has issues with the fine or admin charge process.

I booked a 7.5 ton lorry for the 14th December as I was moving house on that day. When I arrived I was told that it wasn’t back yet and they can’t get in touch with the person whose got the truck. I explained that I needed it to move home and that any delay would cost me money and she said “it’s not my fault. She said to give her 10 minutes to see if she could sort something out. When I went back in to the office she said that after speaking with the person that had the truck he would bring it back by 12, this wasn’t good enough and I asked for a full refund which they gave me. This is the 2nd time this has happened with this company but the last time they gave me 2 Luton’s so that I could move.Thankfully I managed to sort another truck out with auto express. If you want a 7.5 ton truck then don’t use this company they will let you down with zero customer service.

Dear Paul, Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the inconvenience. This was due to the previous hirer not returning to the vehicle to us on time. Unfortunately, the hirer had kept the vehicle and was in Birmingham so there was not a way we could retrieve it from them. Our branch manager offered alternative vehicles but this was not accepted. We apologise for the inconvenience, however, this was out of our hands on this occasion. Thank you.

After picking up the van, I found a pair of used clinical PPE gloves in the dash compartments and door. Clearly the vans are not cleaned before hand over, which is especially important during a Covid pandemic. Speaking as a Covid test site Manager, I was shocked to say the least. I believe the department of health needs to investigate.

I hope my opinion does matter, here is the feed back on the Luton I hired on the 12th Nov 2020. In summary the worst van I have ever hired ! Even your employee said when I complained to her when I returned it “It’s had a life that van and probably needs throwing away” So what was wrong with the van ? It was absolutely filthy inside and out including being covered in soil in the back that I had to sweep out first. See the attached photos. The left hand indicator has a bulb out. No washer fluid No indicator on top of the gearstick, not very convenient when the first time I had to reverse was when a dust cart was coming the other way ! See photo The gearbox is very stiff and the only way to change down quickly was to double de-clutch. The tail lift is wired the wrong way round, lower is raise and raise is lower. The overall height sign was missing. All in all a very poor experience

I advise people not to hire their 4.5 ton truck as the one we had was very stiff to get into gear, 1st and 2nd required 2 hands and reverse almost needed 2 people. Truck was also very dirty.

Thank you for your feedback i am sorry you have not had a good experience, regarding the 7.5 ton truck. If you would care to contact us so we can identify and check the vehicle. However all the Mercedes trucks can be a little stiff as it is a large truck. Getting them in to reverse can be a knack, if you are not used to driving a truck. We run a mix of both auto and manual 7.5 tons and all have been going out back to back over the last few weeks, no issues have been reported, all the trucks are inspected as per the 6 weekly PMI inspections as per the requirements of VOSA
