Very disappointing. Machine arrived with a fault, a week later I still have the faulty machine and no indication of when it will be uplifted. No offer of a replacement, repair only. No other alternative method of return available. Not what I expect from a small business.

Hi Susan, We’re sorry to hear you’ve been disappointed and really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’ve reviewed your order and correspondence in detail, and would like to offer a clear outline of the support you received, in case there’s been any misunderstanding. Timeline of Events & Responses: Wednesday 16th April, 9:10 PM – You contacted us to report a fault with your new Janome DKS100 sewing machine, explaining you had received a “LO” error message and strange noises. 9:20 PM – You followed up with photos of the machine to assist diagnosis. Thursday 17th April, 10:12 AM – You submitted the same fault through our Report Issue form, followed by an email at 10:13 AM with your order number. 12:16 AM – Our customer service team responded, explaining the “LO” error is likely caused by a dislodged drive belt. We offered to collect the machine and asked to confirm the collection address. 12:28 PM – You responded with concerns about having to return a brand-new machine, and asked whether you could drop it off at a courier shop instead, due to holiday plans. 12:43 PM – We advised that we’re unable to use drop-off points, but we could collect from a different address if needed. We also reassured you that repairs like this are typically same-day fixes. 2:02 PM – You confirmed an alternate address, and asked for collection to proceed. 2:58 PM – We confirmed the collection had been arranged for Tuesday 22nd April and that the driver would relabel the parcel upon pickup. 4:25 PM – You asked if we needed the accessories included with the return. 5:32 PM – We replied confirming we only needed the machine, but were happy for you to include accessories if more convenient. Easter Holiday Closure • Friday 18th April – CLOSED (Good Friday) • Saturday 19th April – Limited in-store staffing only (no access to email/customer service systems) • Sunday 20th April – CLOSED (Easter Sunday) • Monday 21st April – CLOSED (Easter Monday) Tuesday 22nd April (Collection Day) 8:22 AM – You emailed to ask whether the courier collection was still scheduled. 8:57 AM – We responded within 35 minutes, confirming that the collection was still due before 6 PM and providing the tracking reference: 4216178000XXXX. We also explained that updates usually appear once the driver’s route is confirmed (around 11 AM). 11:29 AM – You left your company review. We understand that dealing with a fault on a brand-new machine is frustrating, and we’re truly sorry that this occurred at all. However, we did act quickly and provided multiple responses, confirmations, and a collection booking within just a few hours of your first contact—despite the Easter holidays. As per our policy, we always aim to repair where the fault is minor and fixable (such as a dislodged drive belt). This helps resolve the issue faster than arranging a full replacement and avoids unnecessary environmental waste—though we will always review this on a case-by-case basis. We truly regret that your experience did not match your expectations. Your feedback is taken seriously and helps us continue to improve. If there’s anything further we can do, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Kind regards, The Sewing Studio Team

Sewing machine arrived on Tuesday.Wednesday I contacted them to report that the needle threader was misaligned and wouldn’t draw the thread through the needle only to be told that it wasn’t under warranty and I would have to purchase a new one . Unbelievable.Nick Dorset

Hi Nick I'm sorry you are having trouble with the needle threader. They are great devices however also very easy to break as the tiny hook needs to line up exactly with the eye of the needle. What commonly happens is using the needle threader when the needle is not in the right position, the tiny hook hits the shank of the needle and bends out of position, or the eye of the needle is too small - size 10 or lower, or the combination of thick thread and small needle can also be a bit much for the hook. We recommend doing the following: 1. Begin with changing the needle for a new one, when you change the needle, ensure it's pushed all the way up inside the needle block before you tighten up the needle clamp screw. 2. Bring the needle to the correct position for using the needle threader, referring to the manual if needed. To rule out thread being the problem, if you have any Gutermann or similar quality thread to hand that would be best. Fingers crossed if you follow these instructions the problem will be solved. If not, the likelihood is that the hook is bent or damaged and will need replacing. In which case let us know (sales@thesewingstudio.co.uk) and we’ll pop a replacement in the post. Best wishes Anna

Sorry but I was a little disappointed with the selection of fabric. Not my choice apart from 3. The rest will go to charity as I will never use them.

Product not as described on the website The fabric was described as "Linen Blend" in the headline. In the product description it was cotton linen blend. However when I looked at the fabric it is clearly marked as 100% cotton on the selvage. I like the fabric and it seems good quality, but is not what I ordered.

Hello, I have been looking into this for you and can confrim that the fabric you have received is Moda code 48740 12L which is a blend of 30% Linen and 70% cotton. They also produced this range in 100% cotton and believe they used the artwork from the cotton on the linen blend in error. I have an image I can share with you to confirm this but am unable to attach it to this reply, if you would like to contact us at sales@thesewingstudio.co.uk, I can send you the image to give you some reassurance it is a linen blend. Please accept my sincere apologies for the confusion caused. Kind regards Anna

Good morning, I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with your order. I can see that you made contact with us regarding this yesterday morning, I am afraid we are not open on a Sunday which is why you are yet to receive a response. I have looked into this and can see your order was for a quantity of 3 units. As per the details on our website we sell per 1/4 metre, so you should have received a piece that measures approximately 75cm in length, by 104cm in width. If you wish to purchase 3 metres, then a quantity of 12 should be added to the basket. When ordering on our website, the quantity drop down details the length you are ordering in metres to make it easier when purchasing. I hope that makes sense, but if not I am more that happy to talk it though over the phone. Kind regards Anna

Disappointed in the way the 1/4 metre was cut.

Hi sadly I find your website very hard to understand and navigate. And why do you sell out SO quickly when the show might have only been on air a few minutes. It’s not an unusual happening almost every show is the same. Bring more stock - you’d sell more and make more profit! Thanks Chris
