“It works, however the fan is not of a great quality and therefore noisy, this is made worse by the default out of the box performance which results in the fan constantly coming on, and it is either off or full speed.
There is a workaround online which makes a change to the boot config file which allows you to tweak the temperature at which the fan comes on.”
“Very useful item to reduce cable clutter, but beware - the fan is mighty loud on normal auto settings and it spins up and down constantly, I had to change it so its always on at 50%. Also note that you cannot use the heatsink on the chip as there is not enough space between the Pi and the Hat boards.”
“Good piece of kit and value for money! It's great to build out experimental stuff. The only problem is the fan noise with the PoE hat. But some Googling around I managed to change the fan settings and get it start the fan on a certain CPU utilization.”
“On a 3B+, on a 4B the fan kicks in regularly, and it's quite a noisy fan. OK if the Pi is located where you can't hear it but not great of you're looking for a silent solution.”
