It works perfectly, and am very pleased with the functionality. Why only 3 stars then: * The fan tops up higher than the USB/RJ45 plugs, so my (printed) cover didn't fit anymore, as it was flush just over the top of the connectors. * Didn't fit in case due to requirment for screws from both sides, and case only have openings from above. * Power converter put out a whine once hooked up. You know that annoying sound when a coil vibrates? * Have to dismantle everything if you want to hook up a webcam. There is a slot for the cable, but you still have to dismantle everything to make changes with physical camera config. * I have seen a MUCH smaller version on amazon.com which fits flush "under" the 40pins and doesn't block over the CPU or socket for webcam (this original poe _does_ have a slit for webcam cable, but it's not very elegant)... unfortunately it would cost twice as much due to shipping/vat/toll to Europe. * Rather pricy.. especially since no effort into small footprint has been put into it. Other pointers: * I'm not entirely sure how to get the fan working? * It is attached using 4 low spacers and 8 screws. This method puts 4 of the screws under the bottom. This might cause problems for usage with some cases.

The POE works great, but there is no physical way to get access to any of the gpio pins. I tried it with a gpio extension but that makes it too tall to get access to the 4x new POE pins that the board uses. So without further modifications, the functionality is rather limited. POE is used in all kinds of projects, but without gpio? I'm not following the design decisions on this, but maybe someone will come up with a fix :-)

Apologies, to any readers of my earlier answer to 'Does it fit in the standard RPI case on top of the PI?' I was mistaken. The pi3b+ with the official poe hat does fit the pi3b generation standard case. I have other cases that don't fit, and answered in haste.
