The hotel itself is beautiful. We were really happy with the room and how accommodating they were for the dog. The set up they have for dining is great as you don’t feel like you’re being shoved out the way because of the dog. Unfortunately the service wasn’t great! Having worked in hospitality myself for many years I am sometimes a little too critical of the customer service provided at places. However, I don’t think this was the case in this instance as it was the very simple things that were missing and I’m know other tables also had problems. Things like being asked for your order before even being provided a menu! The wait staff were very slow, and seemed extremely unorganised, with not much communication with each other. The kitchen was an open pass, meaning we could hear all communications between the kitchen and floor staff, which at times was very unprofessional, with shouting and swearing coming from the kitchen. The food was your average pub grub, nothing special but we enjoyed it. We would have had desserts if we were offered them but once our mains were cleared we were a bit forgotten about. We basically had to ask/prompt for anything whether it be a menu, to order our drinks etc, which personally I don’t think should be the case, and it wasn’t like they were very busy either. Breakfast both mornings was how we expected it to be after our evening dining experience. Slow service, and again, I was asked for an order before seeing a menu, when I asked if I could see a menu the response was ‘you’re looking at it!’ Continuing with ‘Full English or Vegetarian Full English’ There was a small selection of around 3 cereals or a yoghurt for continental. For what we paid for I don’t really think this was very good value for morning. Overall the hotel itself was lovely, a nice environment, decor and feel and from that aspect I can understand the price, however the food offerings and customer service definitely let it down. The staff were friendly enough, just not very well trained or organised.

It's a lovely hotel with very nice dog friendly eating areas for breakfast and dinner. Felt very covid19 secure as well. A little under staffed at times and some niggles that were sorted quickly (like no pets pyjamas bed) but one the ground floor very easy to access the outdoors for dog relief. No places to let dogs off in site... But literally five mins drive you get the enormous beach and sand dunes to walk for hours all year round! A quiet experience for the lakes even in high season (hot weather, half term and bank holiday) it was very close to grizedale forest or Windermere (both of which are very busy).

Clean, spacious room .Food and service really disappointing and chaotic .Staff lacked knowledge and management and couldn't cope .No chef in kitchen , young , untrained staff attempted to cope but didn't. Following day bit more organised but our weekend was already spoilt by then .

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The human food could be a little better as was not always that warm.
Beautiful hotel and perfect if you have a dog. Our toy poodle loved all the attention and sausages for breakfast

A fantastic hotel! Stayed 2 nights on the DBB package and could not fault it. Rooms perfect, large enough for us to bring a medium dog crate too. Staff and food just brilliant, walking distance from Roanhead beach - loved it! Thank you all at Dunes
