I can only tell you what we saw which wasn't much as we didn't stay long. Hotel is just off the dual carriageway way down a track in an grey stone car park. There are no grounds to speak off and nowhere suitable for the dog. It is not near the beach we were told it was a 15 minute walk away but didn't attempt it. We were told the room wasn't ready but to wait in the bar. Bar closed restaurant closed no drink even tea or coffee available until 1800. It was 14.45 and this hotel (I use the word hotel very losely) is isolated with no nearby shops, pubs etc. The bar/ restaurant area looked like it had suffered a recent food fight and there were 3-4 staff rushing around trying to clean up whilst arguing amongst each other loudly. Bar being told they were closed until 1800 and that there was a large wedding reception that evening we were ignored and clearly made to feel in the way. We left based on the fact it clearly was not what we expected, were made very unwelcome and couldn't see the dog settling with a wedding reception there. We did find somewhere else via Pets Pyjamas who were good on the day but not been impressed since. Still fighting for a refund and struggling to get answers from Pets Pyjamas. Really would not recommend The Dunes

Best dog friendly hotel we have found. Nice touch to provide bed and feeding bowls. Will definitely use the pets pyjamas site again.

On arrival no one in reception due to a wedding being organised. The wedding proved to be unfortunate for anyone not involved as screaming unsupervised children running through bar and restaurant. Head chef who was acting as waiter and breakfast hostess the only staff who seemed to know what they were doing and enjoyed their job. Can’t fault how dog friendly it was or the food which was excellent. The room was large but soulless but ok. The names of the hotel is a bit misleading- 5/10 minute drive to any dunes. The gardens were unkept and thistles in all the grass. Definitely won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend.

Good hotel near Roanhead beach, which is a huge long sandy beach with dunes. A doggy paradise. Some disgusting people do not bother to pick up after their dogs, but we noticed a system in place where the mess is sprayed red and then picked up by volunteers. The owners should also be sprayed red as well in my opinion! There are several lovely Lake District towns and lakes nearby also. The hotel is clean, and staff very friendly, especially towards dogs. We stayed in an executive room , the room was spacious and the bathroom fabulous! Dogs are allowed in the bar and the in-carpeted areas of the restaurant. There is a bowl of dog biscuits on each table ( if wanted) and water bowls. The food for humans is good, hot and well presented, although the evening menu is a bit repetitive if you’re staying for more than a few days, especially if you’re vegetarian. The breakfasts are great, buffet at the weekend with loads of choices and hot food to order on weekdays. The dog loved it and he would definitely return!

Very welcoming, very dog friendly, rooms clean & big, hotel very clean. Food was lovely but not a big menu, drinks were abit on the pricey side. Location not the best but had a few trips out in car & boat trips. Dogs loved it got sausage every morning & bed, bowls, treats for the room & Treats everyday while in the bar.

It was absolutely beautiful here, there’s a lovely walk not far and the staff are amazing. They are so welcoming and the dogs got fussed and treated like family. We loved our little trip. Thank you
