Firstly, this is a great exhaust whatever the price. The fact it's so cheap is a real bonus!I had a Mk1 1.8 previously and had the 'standard' stainless exhaust on that one. This time I've had this cheaper exhaust fitted to my 1.6 and there are differences. If you're trying to choose between the two maybe I can help?Firstly the noise. This is very subjective obviously, but the first exhaust I had was definitely louder than this one. I personally miss the extra noise and wish I'd got the 'standard' stainless exhaust again. This exhaust doesn't 'rasp' until 5k+ revs, the last one made a lovely noise at 4k revs. The more expensive of the two also had a lovely 'burble' on deccelaration that is missing with this exhaust.I think this exhaust fits better though, the alignment is absolutely spot on and it is perfectly proportioned - it looks like it belongs there! I remember the 'standard' stainless exhaust not fitting quite so well.Overall I'm really pleased with this exhaust. I've made some 3+ hour trips across country with it and the extra noise was in no way wearing as it could be with the last exhaust I had. It looks wonderful too, a bit special without straying into chav territory. It IS noisier than the normal replacement exhaust but in no way embarrassing. If you want something to sound more 'racey' then the 'standard' stainless replacement is probably worth the extra £50.

This is a excellent product. The quality of materials and manufacturing is apparent as soon as you open the box and it fits very well.Collected from MX5Parts on Thursday, took it to my local tyre and exhaust supplier and got them to fit it for cash.Glad I did because getting the old one off took some doing - the studs on the end of the cat were seized and eventually needed to be drilled out. It would have been a tough job with the car on stands on the drive. The tubing used on this exhaust is quite a bit larger in diameter than the old rear section which came off our carOnce on with the car stated the exhaust note is a low burble which develops into a healthy rasp as you blip the throttle - very nice!

Bought mine at MX5 club spring rally at a bargain price. I fitted it later that day in less than an hour. Superb looking and makes the car sound like a sports car should.

Very good quality exhaust, easy to fit if you soak the rear cat bolts in advance. Slightly misaligned tail piece to bumper cut out, this was easily solved with a bit of brute force!Be advised that this is not a quiet exhaust, it is very vocal and can sound like a boy racer Nova with bean tin fitted, not bad when coasting though.Very nice tail piece, just the right size.To conclude, an excellent buy, great value and quality, but the noise may not suit all people, but the MX5 is a true sports car and gets away with it.

Buy One ! This Imho, is how the mx should sound from the factory, it is a sports car after all ! I fitted a piper cross filter a while ago and this made improvements but not quite as much what i was looking for ( or is that listening for ) , this inexpensive bit of kitt fulfills my requirement. Not chavvy, not annoying just the right tone.A few people where present when it was fitted and commented on the quality, the nuts on the cat where lubed well in advance as suggested on here and came off well.To summerise , click the add to basket , bang in your card number and when fitted enjoy the true sports car sound.

Wow!! What a difference in sound. I had this changed over with the SS Decat from MX5 parts as well. Completely different car in both response and sound. My mechanic comemnted on how well it was made and the finish looked WAY more expensive than the amount it cost. Not too loud, just loud enough to turn heads without feeling like an idiot ;)Excellent delivery yet again from MX5parts.co.uk, next day on a whacking great box for no different charge??! Thanks guys!Greg

A great quality product at a great price. Very straight forward to fit, only took an hour. Tips - get as much room under the car as possible (ramps or inspection pit ideally), spray the cat union bolts with WD40 the day before, spray the rubber bushes with WD40 to ease removal. It's easier if you can remove some of the bushes and place them on the exhaust prior to fitment (spray inside the bush mounts and persevere). Gauranteed you will be very pleased with the result.
