About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Very inclusive. Friendly staff. Love the welcoming atmosphere that has been created. Equipment in working order but could do with some updating. Maybe introduction of some more classes such as trialling Body Attack, yoga?”

“I frequently go to the gym because it is around 4 minutes drive from my house. I like the fact that it is compact and the equipment that is there suits my needs. I also attend a circuits class on a Monday evening. The instructor, Darren is excellent. I only wish there were more exercise classes available at Pencoed which is my only complaint. I also occasionally do the aquafit class which again is very enjoyable. All the staff are courteous and keen to help.”

“Thanks to good management and good player connectivity our numbers have exceeded expectations. It looks like we will exceed court numbers by far. Unlike two years ago Most of the rooms are busy with their respective activities. Socialisation between users is noticeably higher.”
