About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“It’s a challenge to swim at swim for fitness sessions as some members swim two or three to a lane still and nothing is done about it. Additionally difficult to change in a cubicle as members leave their items in them with no regard for anyone else.”

“Staff all very helpful and swimming pool generally clean an pleasant. Changing rooms really could do with a refurbish however and would like to see more swim for fitness times between 5&7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and more times available on a Friday also.”

“Has a good amount of equipment for the size of the gym. Plenty of room for workouts. Overall a good clean and nicely refurbished space. However, it seems that quite regularly it is impossible to use the changing rooms as even if there are cubicles free, parents from swimming lessons have left belongings in them! This is the same with the lockers. On several occasions my partner has got to the gym straight from work and been unable to get changed or even enter the changing room so has left again without being able to use the gym.”

“I do not come to Leominster halo very often. I used to enjoy coming on a Sunday and doing a gym and swim session , booking the earlier pool session being quieter. This all changed when the gym shut for a training session on a Sunday morning, so I now go elsewhere. I also find the gym very noisy, I prefer to listen to my own music , here I don't have the choice. The TV's are rarely switched on . So all and all , I don't come as often as I used to !”

“Lovely staff. Very clean. Few issues need attention eg cold shower by sauna, shower door missing for weeks, and most of all, why do members have to pay car park fees when it s obvious the carpark was meant for the centre, should be able to swipe member card for free parking. If you do 2 classes you must pay £3.20 multiply that by 3 or 4 days you are paying more than halo fees. Also if you go after 6pm it s free.As mostly day time users are pensioners they must pay. After 6pm it s mostly working people. Hardly encouraging for older people to stay active and fit while being penalised .”

We also want to address the issues you mentioned regarding the amenities. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced, such as the cold shower by the sauna and the missing shower door. Both cold water showers next to the sauna and steam room are now functional. We are still awaiting a date for the shower cubicle door to arrive and be fitted. In regards to the car park fees, we understand your frustration. We would suggest contacting Herefordshire Council who runs the local car parks to express your concerns. “Equipment good staff good. Cleanliness around the pool area leaves a lot to be desired Still have to queue to book in as pink pillars often don't work on things like hydro gym. Was told it was being looked at, don't know if it has been don't take the chance of having to try and then find I then have to join the queue.”

“The centre is well run and the staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoy going there. I don’t like the drop in temperature of the water as i have to work hard to keep warm. I stopped going to one fitness class as i lost confidence in the tutor.”

It's always wonderful to hear that our customers enjoy coming here. We understand that the drop in water temperature may not be ideal for you, and we apologize for any discomfort it may cause. We aim to keep our pool temperature at 29.4 degrees but from time to time we do need to top our pool up with mains water. As for the fitness class, we are sorry for the loss of confidence in the tutor. if you would like to give us some more feedback on this. “Good range of classes and helpful and informative personal trainers. Unfortunately Hereford pool lost an experienced Les mill trainer and her class has not been covered yet, hopefully it will soon.”
