About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Im so impressed by your toning suite. I was originally introduced to it on a GP referral. Those machines move my poor body in the correct way and I now can use tension so regain muscles. 2 years ago I could barely walk but feel so much better now.”

“Friendly and clean although there aren’t many classes. I’m also a member of freedom in Worcester and they run classes throughout the day. It’s more of a community than a leisure centre, classes are full then they all meet at the cafe for a drink and social. I think adding more classes may bring in more members”

“The gym is ok. Equipment is dated. The gym was recently repainted by what seems like a 5 year old as they got paint all over the floor…such a mess! The swimming pool changing rooms are so hot and humid that you come out wetter than when you were in the pool!”

“I play golf and as I have said many times to many people the golf course is in good condition but needs a bit of attention to detail . 1, the bunkers need raking. 2 The litter needs picking up ,and more bins they were taking away with COVID and never been put back. 3 The fairways need to be cut shorter so there is definition between the semi rough and the fairways.at the moment we are playing to winter rules and that mean you can pick up your ball and clean it if you are on the fairway so if there's no definition between the two you don't know if you can pick or not. 3 Tee markings are missing,flags on the greens as well. You need golfers to talk to each other and tell them about how good the course is and more golfers will come and play,if they tell other golfers the course is not good you will not increase your footfall . I hope my comments will help Clive Butler President of the golf club”

“I use the centre twice a week. Its generally ok. We do gentle exercise but if the big hall is needed for something else we get put into a room that is totally unsuitable for yhis class. The pool area and changing rooms and toilets are always grubby and dirty nost of the time.”

“Staff at the centre are always helpful and friendly. It is good that more services/ classes but the changing room cubicles and showers are very tired and in need of a revamp. There is also a major problem with the drainage system as they frequently block and smell really fowl”

“Overall it’s a good facility. However I have not been satisfied with the replies I have received following my complaints about the areas of failed flooring to both gyms which are in a dangerous condition. Also having requested on numerous occasions to have wall ball target installed in the strength and conditioning gym, but have never had any response”

“The centre as a whole is a very high standard. There are some issues to the gym flooring and also the main pool needs cleaning more often but apart from that I am very happy with my visits there.”

“I would rate the pool a 2 or 3 as it's so cold well under temperature as I have fibromyalgia and been using a pool in Worcester and it's so much warmer and cleaner. I'd rate the staff a 4 or 5 star as they are brilliant nothing is too much trouble for them they are brilliant. I'm not exaggerating in any way but the pool when you get in you have goose bumps and even after 20 lengths you have goose bumps. I'm not the only one saying about the pool. I go on a Monday or Thursday and the older women and gentlemen are saying how cold it is. In fact I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription and travelling to Worcester although it's 24 miles away and petrol but I can't swim in a cold pool. It's ridiculous”

“Unfortunately this centre is run down and lots of classes cancelled. Very poor variety of classes which are not advertised or, promoted. Centre is not used to its full potential and used to be at the heart of the valley. Lovely staff but It’s says something when even the manager is using another local gym,training centre. Such a shame when surrounding centres are thriving.”
