“It tastes absolutely horrendous. I usually am a fan of wholefood ingredients, protein drinks, meal replacements, health supplements etc but I cannot stand to drink the purition sachets without gagging. The texture is horrible, and when blended its incredibly watery. No matter what flavour I try, the taste is always the same. It's indescribable, many reviews described the weird taste as being nutty but to me it's a weird pulp tasting thing of some kind. The only way I can feel the sachets being edible at all is if I drowned it in flavour with other ingredients like fruit, porridge, sugar etc, which sort of defeats the purpose of a nutritionally compact meal replacement and this also brings more hassle which defeats the point of the convenience. Really disappointed & I hope they really try to improve the flavour!”

Purition is made with seeds and nuts and delicately flavoured with real food ingredients. It has a mildly nutty taste and texture, is not overly sweet. If you want to enhance any flavour notes, it's easy to do so at home. Something else to take in account is that the milk you choose makes a flavour difference. “Ok so I tried quite a number of meal replacement shakes. This one is by far the worst. I am not a vegan but I do have a lactose intolerance so vegan option is the only one. I have chosen taster selection to be able to try different flavours. I started with my favourite one, vanilla. I used a blender and added lactose free milk, to not affect the flavour by using oat or coconut. It tasted absolutely disgusting! Texture was not smooth, colour was greenish and there was nothing of a vanilla flavour in it. I can only compare it to a wet cardboard with a hint of mould in it- as this is how I imagine it would taste like. I’m dreading trying more flavours and if I didn’t open it - I’d simply return it. Absolute waste of money.”

This distinctive smell (although definitely not pleasant) is completely normal where products contain B Vitamins - Thiamine (Vitamin B1) in particular, contains sulphur, which mainly accounts for the ‘fishy’ odour, however this is nothing to worry about.
Other multivitamin products which also contain these nutrients have the same distinctive scent, however most manufacturers go into great lengths to make their supplements more appealing by adding synthetic ingredients (excipients) such as sugar and/or gelatine to mask this smell or coat their tablets (essentially with a thick with a sugar layer). We wanted to create a supplement without any additives, so that you (and us) can rest assured that you are not ingesting artificial ingredients.

We are sorry that this happened!
Our KetoTHIS bars are entirely made of whole food ingredients only and the cocoa butter we use has a relatively low melting point of 25°C -36°C, which can mean that the bars can get soft at warmer, summery temperatures.
We would never add any stabilisers or any other artificial ingredients to alter the natural state of the foods we use, but we understand that this can lead to the occasional inconvenient instances just like the one you described.

“After reading several reviews I bought 5 packets of the vegan protein, I had my first shake and really don’t like it at all, it’s very bitty, I’ve tried many protein shakes including some well known ones which also have bits in them and I don’t like waste so will persevere even if I don’t like something but this for me was just unpalatable I got part way through drink and had to throw it away, I tried it in the blender first to try to make it smoother but just not fit me at all, wish I hadn’t bought so many packets now, lesson learned.”
