We called into the Preston branch today, for an SD card, wanted top of the range, as fast as poss, with as much GB as poss. We bought what the lady recommended. Once home we researched what she had recommended as this is the best we can get for our camera. We can buy double the MB for our camera, so were miss sold. Will be calling back for a refund, asap. She really didnt have time for us. Normally we have had no problem at this branch and have spent a lot of money here (2 cameras and one lens) not anymore, we were mis sold today, which is a shame, as we have always trusted you before

Hi, I've spoken to the store and believe you were sold a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB 95MB/s card. For the camera you mentioned it was for this would equate to approximately 3000 shots when shooting RAW + Jpeg, around 4000 RAW files only or well over 10,000 images for jpegs only. These are of course only approximations, but on the lower end of the estimate. There is a 256GB version, which is just less than double the price you paid for yours. We usually recommend having a couple of smaller cards, rather than one very, very large one, in case of loss or damage. There is a faster card, an Extreme Pro UHS-II card, but this only goes up to 64GB and you have expressed an interest in the larger capacity card. This card is backwards compatible with your camera, but would not realise the speeds quoted and would offer no real advantage over the Extreme Pro 95MB/s. If we had sold you this 64GB faster card at £149.99, you would have paid nearly twice as much for half the capacity and similar speeds with your camera. We wouldn't advise a card that wasn't suitable for you - we always try to give honest advice tailored to a customer's needs and equipment, rather than simply trying to sell you the most expensive option. I hope you will now feel confident with the card you have purchased. It is an excellent product and suitable for most high-end cameras with a huge capacity. We do sell the 256GB version if you would prefer an even bigger card and the store managaer will be able to assist you with this. He would also be happy to talk to you in person about your visit yesterday if you feel there are unresolved issues. Alternatively, you can email him at preston@wilkinson.co.uk or contact us at support@wilkinson.co.uk and we would be happy to discuss this further with you. Kind regards, Alex - Wilkinson Cameras

Unfortunately not a great experience. I purchased a pre owned nikon lens on line. I received email confirmation of the purchase and also spoke to someone on the Wilkinson help line who said the lens was at Preston branch. Expectently waited a few days and then telephoned by Wilkinson to say the lens was not available = mistake on the website. The guy was apologetic and said I could buy the lens new but could not offer a discount off the new price. Given the circumstances, the inconvenience and disappointment and their breach of contract = it would have been nice to have been offered 10% off the price of the new lens. Not great customer care in my opinion. On the positive side = still a good website and store

Wasn't impressed with the sales assistant, who told me my item would be delivered 2 days after he took my payment of £749.00. I had to contact the Liverpool branch to find out where my camera was, to be told I had to wait a few more days to receive this, & it would be sent on a special delivery from the Preston Store. Very disappointing!! Will go to John Lewis or Curry's in future.

I decided to trade in a mint condition Leica MP and lens for a CSC system and contacted Wilkinson's to see about a trade in value, as they had been the original supplier. My initial valuation was a very disappointing £1,000 for the body and £300 for the lens, so I contacted other dealers and advertised on ebay and gumtree. The current cost of a Leica MP is £3,300 and second hand lenses are on offer around £700. A lens was suggested to me which may have been of interest and I considered a visit to the nearest shop. Without approval from me, I got an email saying the lens was being transferred to the Carlisle shop, then a further email from Carlisle saying the lens was available for collection. My opinion is that I was being railroaded into getting a very expensive lens that may not have suited my requirements or budget (especially with the very low valuation). I have just sold the MP body for over £1,600 via paypal and await clearance of the funds. I still intend purchasing a Lumix GX8 or GX80 with a selection of lenses and an adapter to use the Leica lens plus another so that I can use my Rollei lenses.

Hi, I'm sorry that you feel the valuation of your equipment was low, but please note that we have to pay VAT on any pre-owned items we buy. We also buy them with the intention of selling them on, so of course we must also consider the need to make a profit, not just covering the cost of buying and selling the item. I'm glad that you were able to sell your Leica and both cameras you are considering as replacements are an excellent choice. I am quite confident that our staff weren't trying to railroad you into buying a lens and that their intention was purely to make the lens available to you locally should you require to view it in person or try it out. It was perhaps a little over zealous if you hadn't asked to view it, but I can assure you that the "hard sell" is not our style and that they were just trying to be helpful. I will speak to them and ask that they clarify everything before acting on impulse in future. I do hope you will consider shopping with us again in the future. Kind regards, Alex - Wilkinson Cameras

Why advertise an item online that is not available (discontinued )

Hi, We have recently upgraded our website which should eliminate problems like this. Our live stock system should ensure that only products that are in stock are shown as available to buy online. In the case of "Special Order" items, these are shown as such. On rare occasions when placing the special order, it may turn out that the supplier has discontinued the item without letting us know. If it was a pre-owned item, as there are only one of each of these items available, there is a slim chance that as you are buying it online, it could be sold at the store where it is listed at the same time. Though a rare occurrence, it is possible and we will always contact you as quickly as possible and try to find a suitable alternative for you. We try to keep our products up to date on the website and we hope that you will enjoy using the new, improved website with more informative stock information. Regards, Alex - Wilkinson Cameras

I had asked for a price match on nikon 16-80, they said they would be in touch to say if this be possible. A couple of days passed and i received a message to let me know they had not forgetted about me however i did not hear anything after this voicemail. If they had just said sorry we can't price match that would have been fine. I have brought quite a bit of kit from wilkinson, so i left wondering to why they did this.

Hi, Please can you let us know which store you rang (or emailed), approximately which date, and if possible which staff member you spoke to? This will help us to look into this further for you. Thanks, Alex - Wilkinson Cameras

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I've just had a look into your order and because it is a Special Order item, the postage it set to 5-7 working days. I can confirm that the item was ordered from the UK distributor on the next working day after you placed your order. I'm very sorry that we haven't kept you up to date. In the morning, a member of our sales team will check on the status of the order and get in touch with you on the email address provided on your original order. Regards, Alex

I placed an order for a single small item on Tuesday 31st May. Today is now Wednesday 8th June and all I have received so far is a receipt of purchase. I have no confirmation that my purchase has been despatched for delivery, even though your site claims to deliver within a few working days. I am going away at the weekend on a photography trip and will be very disappointed if I have not received my purchase by then.

My email of the 19th May, sent to your Preston Store, gives a fairly clear picture of my opinion of your customer service. The fact that I received neither acknowledgment or reply further reinforces my view. I intend to make further significant purchases in the next couple of months. These will be from Wex or Amazon. Yours faithfully Paul Twambley Kirkham

Hi, Thank you for bringing this to our attention and I'm sorry that you experienced a sub-standard level of customer service. I've looked into this matter for you and I believe that the issue with your purchase has now been resolved and that a member of staff at the Preston store rang you after reading your email. We do have provide regular training, including how to respond to emails in a timely and professional manner, but I realise that in this case this did not happen. I can assure you that this matter will be taken further and refresher training provided. I hope that you will give us another chance to prove that this isn't the usual standard of service at Wilkinson Cameras, but most of all I hope you enjoy using your lens and take some great photographs.
