“Volunteering Solutions was quite helpful in all aspects of the volunteer process. The staff provided a great host home, communications and volunteer opportunities. We were told the more you jump in and participate the more you get out. This was definitely true. I helped the maintenance crew at Kay Dee Preschool paint fences and perform yard work. The school looks much nicer after our work.”

“I joined NGO Support program - Human Rights and Women Empowerment in Morocco. First, thank you for support and kindness and support throughout my project. This was my first time to go to African continent by myself, so I got a bit tense at the beginning. However, not only local kind people but also VolSol nice staffs helped me a lot to have a great time there. I worked for local NGO, it has a significant meaning for me since I want to work in another country in the future. That was exactly what I sought for for a long time. Furthermore, I could have great friends there not only staying at Moroccan traditional house. Our relationship will long last. The weather was all beautiful, I didn't use my umbrella even once. However, there were some things that I wanted you to improve. Regarding the very volunteering, I wanted my boss to do instruction and showed me an over view of their work. I could not figure out what I should do for a few beginning days. And regarding house, there were largely 4 points. One is that there are no windows and 2 out of 6 lights didn't work at first, my room was always dark. And there was no laundry in my Riad, I had to pay extra money for cleaning service. And I could not rock up my room. My room was easy to get in, so I was always worried about my belongings and night. And there were no AC in the room, so I couldn't control the temperature in mornings and evenings. If you are interested in this project, support for local NGO, women empowerment and human rights, you should check your belongings well. There are literally nothing except for bed, toilet, shower, washbasin. Overall, the life there was good and will work well for my future, but I wanted to know the facility before especially for security. I think that this program is worth paying on the whole, since we can connect supporter anytime and have house and meals, and great friends. I recommend you join! but don't forget to prepare well enough.”

“Volunteering solutions provided an opportunity to experience Thailand as a partner with the people of Thailand. Working at the elephant camp was one of the best weeks I've ever had. The orientation weekend gave me an opportunity to get to know the staff and other volunteers as I learned about the Thai culture and language. Overall, the experience was well organized from start to finish.”

“This was definitely the best experience I had in my life so far. The relationship with the other volunteers there was amazing and the project was incredibly interesting. As a medical student you won't go back home with a lot of new clinical knowledges, but you will become a better person (and so a better doctor) for sure. Just a piece of advice, wait to book the safari until you are there so you can go with your fellow volunteers!”

“The incredible warmth of the children in the Kindergarten in Cusco and the loving welcome of the host family and participation in family life are truly unique! After just 2 weeks, saying goodbye is emotional and very difficult. Despite the short preparation time (booking 1 month before departure), the team made a unique experience possible. And if one or two questions were still unanswered, they were quick to deal with our concerns and always found a good solution to make fantastic tours possible alongside the volunteering. Getting to know the other volunteers and exploring a foreign country together was a special bonus. Thanks to everyone for an unforgettable time!”

“I really had the best time of my life in Ireland. Being a volunteer in a charity Shop taught me so much about myself and helped me to grow as a person. I received so much love and thankfulness from my co-workers and the costumers, so that even on rather stressful days, I could leave work with a big smile on my face. Plus, Ireland absolutely became the home of my heart - it only took me a few seconds to feel at home when I took my first steps on Irish soil and I could not have asked for a better country or a better organisation. I can say from the bottom of my heart that it was the right decision to become a volunteer in Ireland. I arrived in the country without any work experience and without having visited Ireland before and I left with so many beautiful memories and lots of great experiences!”

“My time in Ireland was very memorable: I think I changed a lot there and I became more independent and surer of what I am worth. Irish people are all very nice and enjoyable because it changes a lot with other European countries. Moreover, there are such outstanding touristic places in Ireland that deserve to be visited. Finally, volunteering in a charity shop was a very enjoyable work as it was not very hard and it allowed me to talk English a lot to customers or colleagues. All in all, I recommend 100% Ireland as it was for me an amazing experience that I won't forget.”

“Ciao sono stata un mese a Zanzibar, a casa tutto bene la famiglia di francis è fantastica. Il problema è stato in ospedale, eravamo troppi volontari e la dottoressa che ci divideva per i reparti ci mandava in gruppo da 5-6 per reparti in cui c’erano solo 1/2 pazienti o in cui non c’era niente da fare. Il personale dei diversi reparti si vedeva chiaramente che non ci voleva intorno e che noi eravamo di troppo per cui dovreste secondo me avere più comunicazione con la signora che decide dove mandarci perché ci avete fatto spendere soldi inutilmente, io non sono venuta a Zanzibar per fare una vacanza ma per dare il mio aiuto come infermiera. Fortunatamente ho cambiato reparto e molte cose sono migliorate ho legato grandi amicizie con alcune infermiere. Quando sono andata dalla dottoressa in ufficio per chiederle di farmi un certificato lei mi ha detto che io non sarei potuta stare lì più di 28 giorni ma io le ho spiegato che con voi ho pagato per starci 30 giorni, lei in modo scocciato e scorbutico mi ha detto che avrei dovuto pagare per rimanere lì altri due giorni ma ci rendiamo conto ?? Non ci prendete in giro, io avevo già pagato voi e di pagare quest’ospedale che cade a pezzi per starci due giorni in più assolutamente no! Per 30 giorni ho speso più di 1400€ per cosa? Apparte la casa ma vicino a dove alloggiavamo non c’era assolutamente nulla, un bar un ristorante, nulla. Bisognava sempre spostarsi con il taxi per andare in spiaggia quindi ogni giorno avremmo dovuto spendere un sacco di soldi. Non c’è nessun tipo di comfort nella zona in cui stavamo per cui dovreste abbassare il prezzo, io la consiglio come esperienza ma non in quell’ospedale e non a quel prezzo.”

In regards to the hospital placement, you were placed at the largest public hospital placement at Zanzibar and the hospital does receive many students for internships and electives. Glad to know that you were able to change the department and things worked out fine. Before arrival of participants we need to send your documents and have you registered at the hospital, which in your case was for 4 weeks i.e 28 day period. You had chosen to arrive 2 days early in the program which included just extra nights accommodation and you could not start your placement early. Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. “I had an incredible experience volunteering with Volunteer Solutions in Rabat, Morocco. The opportunity to work in both a school and an eye hospital was truly enriching. “it was certainly one of the most beautiful and enriching experiences of my life. The volunteer camp in gladstone is beautiful, with many animals and many people who put their hearts into what they do. The only flaw to take into consideration is that there is the possibility that there will be no other volunteers. In September when I went there were only three of us and for the following weeks there would be no one. Despite this, I would like to recommend it to all those who love animals and want to live a unique experience”

“Hi! My name is Malaika, and this was my 2nd time volunteering with Volunteering soloutions. I chose the children’s teaching program placed in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. I was there for a week, and I must say it was the best time! The program itself was amazing. The children are so gifted and bright and always so eager to learn. Helping them with their work was so rewarding and I had so much of fun playing various games with them, singing together and of course learning. Transport, meals and everything in between was very well organised and exceeded my expectations. Our transport was always on time and was very efficient. The coordinators and staff did a great job at always keeping us informed on any changes in plans and we’re always there for any assistance needed. The program also offered fun activities during free time such as, a bicycle tour, city tour and rooftop yoga. All these activities as well were very well organized and a nice addition to the overall experience. We also had weekly evaluation meetings which I thought was very beneficial and helpful. All in all, this is my second time around having had a great experience with volunteering soloutions. They have always been very helpful and quick to assist me with any questions or doubts I may have had and I couldn’t recommend them enough! Especially for solo travellers, everything is looked after and it’ll be a safe and unforgettable trip!”
