"(Eng Below)\r\nITA-L'esperienza con VolSol in Ghana \u00e8 stata incredibile. Ho seguito il programma per 4 settimane presso la scuola delle ragazze. Mi sono affezionata tantissimo a loro e molto \u00e8 stato fatto insieme. Frederick, il buddy, si \u00e8 preso cura di me in tutto e per tutto. Mi sono trovata benissimo con lui e la sua famiglia (con 4 figli). \u00e9 importantissimo lo spirito di adattamento, sia per la mancanza di acqua corrente, sia per le condizioni igieniche (diverse dallo standard occidentale), che per la percezione relativa del tempo (in Ghana il tempo non esiste e non ci sono orologi). Ho trascorso un mese straordinario, conosciuto una cultura totalmente diversa dalla mia, conosciuto persone diventate amiche e aiutato tanto le ragazze della scuola (grazie alle donazioni di una raccolta fondi che ho attivato perla scuola). Ho visitato e aiutato anche presso l'orfanotrofio di Tamale (opzionale). Tamale \u00e8 una citt\u00e0 molto semplice, in rapida crescita e con religione islamica prevalente. I ghanesi sono un popolo estremamente gentile, accogliente e amichevole. Consiglio davvero di andare a Tamale a fare volontariato: ce n'\u00e8 molto bisogno e l'esperienza cambia la vita. Sono tornata in Italia da poco e ho gi\u00e0 voglia di ripartire!\r\n\r\nENG-The experience with VolSol in Ghana was incredible. I followed the program for 4 weeks at the girls' school. I became very fond of them and a lot was done together. Frederick, the buddy, took care of me in every way. I had a great time with him and his family (with 4 children). The spirit of adaptation is very important, both for the lack of running water, for the hygienic conditions (different from Western standards), and for the relative perception of time (in Ghana time does not exist and there are no clocks). I spent an extraordinary month, got to know a culture that was totally different from mine, met people who became friends and helped the girls at school a lot (thanks to donations from a fundraiser that I set up for the school). Tamale is a very simple, rapidly growing city with a prevalent Islamic religion. Ghanaians are an extremely kind, welcoming and friendly people. I really recommend going to Tamale to volunteer: there is a lot of need and the experience is life-changing. I recently returned to Italy and I already want to go again!"

“I have participated in the street Children as well Children with special needs program in India. A wonderful and rewarding experience; an unforgettable opportunity helping these children and making a difference in both lives even if it’s for a few weeks. The staff at Volunteering Solutions are amazing, very friendly and supportive in any way possible. I have volunteered in India with Volunteering Solutions a couple of times and will definitely be returning. Hopefully, the organization expands more throughout India, giving volunteers the opportunity to not only have an experience in volunteering but also to explore the wonders of India and its friendly people, Whilst highly recommending Volunteering Solutions, I wish to thank Shankar for his patience and for always looking out for us, as well as to Sahil and Rajiv. “My experience was rather interesting in Costa Rica. Our host family mother, Barbara, was wonderful. She provided us with information about turtles. However the program in Costa Rica did not match our expectation that we researched from Volunteering Solutions. Barbara mentioned that there is a true disconnect from the program coordinators and the people of Costa Rica. They do not always receive correct information. We did participate in many service tasks, such as cleaning trash, pulling weeds, and helping with the hactuary. Night patrol was honestly very scary and unsafe with poachers approaching many nights. Due to a family emergency back in the states, we had to leave the program early. However even if there was no emergency we did not feel safe staying much longer. We were very disappointed. During the day there was not much work to do and it was very hot. We were told we would be able to swim in the ocean, play games, and interact with fellow volunteers. None of that happened. My friend Kristen and I were the only volunteers. There was another girl who we met but she was part of a different program and was staying for a month. Her expectations were not met either. I would not recommend this program to anyone. I am very disappointed.”

“I volunteered in Arusha, Tanzania in the health programme last year and had the time of my life. I also took time in two of the orphanages there and it was absolutely amazing. I am already enquiring about volunteering with this company this year and cannot wait!!! I recommend travelling with this company so much as they are organised and supportive helping you with every need so you can have a safe but also adventurous and fulfilling time wherever you go in the world.”

“My husband and I participated in the Childcare and Elephant Volunteering program in India. It was a very rewarding experience and we are so grateful that we had the opportunity to be a part of it. Our program involved visiting volunteering at a childcare centre, as well as a bear and elephant sanctuary. It also included excursions over weekends to see the Taj Mahal in Agra, as well as the sights in Jaipur. Throughout the course of the 2 weeks, we were so well taken care off by the Volunteering Solutions staff. Sahil and Namrata were always responsive to emails prior to our trip. We were picked up from the airport on Day 1 by Shankar, who helped us settle into our accommodation and supported us during our time in New Delhi. All the meals provided by Volunteering Solutions at all the volunteer houses were awesome, and allowed us to eat with other volunteers doing different programs. The volunteering experience was humbling. At the childcare centre, we were uplifted with the smiles of the children who were so eager to see us everyday. A word of advice is to bring in some resources for these kids (for e.g. colouring books, exercise books, picture books, etc.) so that they can be used by them. The bear and elephant sanctuary allowed us to see the good work that locals do to help the animals rehabilitate and feel loved, after having been through abusive situations. We also met volunteers from across the world as part of this trip, and it was very refreshing to meet people who were choosing to spend significant amounts of time to give back. Our tour guides and transportation organized by Volunteering Solutions was top-notch. Everything was so well organized, and our amazing guides really made a difference in our experience. I would highly recommend that you try out a program with Volunteering Solutions at least once. I know that we'll be back for more!”

“I had an amazing and unforgettable experience in Cape Town! Organization was easier than expected and the hostel has a good location. It´s easy to find someone who walks to the supermarket with you or shares an Uber ride to the beach. When you plan your stay you shouldn´t forget about the Uber costs as the project can be quite far away and you will use Uber a lot. Another advice: you won´t need much cash, I paid alomost everything with credit card. I recommend this project 100%!”

“Everything worked very well with Volunteering Solutions. They provided useful predeparture information so you get to know details about your project and what to expect. Besides, they always answer our particular questions and were willing to help with our specific needs and find a suitable solution. There were no hidden costs or anything unexpected and the whole experience stages ended up being as it was explained and suposed to be. Fortunately we did not need to use the onsite assistance but we feel that we have the contact information in case it was needed. At least in our experience, they worked with an actual local organization that does great job developing their projects and involving the local comunity in a sustainable and ethical way.”

“I spent 10 days volunteering in Nairobi, Kenya. We spent our time at Tigoni Level 4 Hospital and have experienced alot in such a short time. I would recommend Volunteering solutions to all medical staff, student nurses, or anyone who just wants to experience a different culture. Our accommodation was okay, comfy beds and the basics that you need, the meals cooked were lovely, and our hosts couldn't do enough for us. We became friends with other volunteers who were housed with us or near us, these people have become friends for life. (A lock on the bathroom door would have been perfect though; marked down a star because 8 people sharing a small bathroom is hard. No body wants to see our friends naked; or not me). I just wished we stayed longer. Looking forward to our next adventure.”

“My time in Arusha, Tanzania has truly been an eye-opening experience. If described in one word, "amazing" is an understatement. From the first day, I fell in love with the culture and environment. I was warmly welcomed by my host family, the Matolos, and felt at home. They treated me as one of their own. I even acquired an international nickname! “Elisa.” Originally, I was supposed to volunteer in the summer; however, due to the pandemic, I rescheduled for the winter holidays instead. That was the best decision ever. The atmosphere during the holidays is very lively, warm, and welcoming. I connected with everyone I encountered, from the house staff, to my coworkers, and fellow volunteers at St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital. At the hospital, I volunteered in the surgical ward and observed copious procedures. “L’union Fait La Force—Unity Makes Strength” is a traditional Haitian motto found on the emblem of our flag. In a Haitian household, children are taught that mountains can be moved with unity. It was not until my experience in Tanzania that I understood the true meaning of this statement. Although under pressure and lacking medical resources, every person in the operating room, in unity, contributed to the well-being and survival of each patient.”

“I’m Jill from the UK. I volunteered for one week on the Women’s Empowerment project. The students and staff were friendly and immediately made me feel so welcome. The experience has given me an insight into the lives of the students and an opportunity to get to understand their ideas and values. The accommodation, although basic was clean and comfortable. Deepak, our host was kind, understanding and most importantly a very good cook. Rajiv the company director is extremely supportive. He came to pick me up from my hotel on the first day. He delivered a useful orientation session and introduced me to the key staff in the centre. He also visited on my first full and last day of the project. Overall I had a super experience creating long lasting happy memories. Thanks to all involved!!!”

“I will not mention the names of local businesses, adults or children in this review. Permission is granted to publish pictures. I spent two busy weeks in Jaipur in Rajasthan, northwest India. I took a train to Jaipur from Jaisalmer, from the desert, right on the border of Pakistan. As a rather unconventional idea, I found on a website I followed where the international volunteer organization Volunteering Solutions forwards job offers to different parts of the world. By chance, by changing my travel plan a bit, I got this two-week “Renovation Project in Jaipur” opportunity arranged for my trip to Asia. The local volunteer organization took me off the train for guidance, and the coordinator guided me to the accommodation. I had hoped in advance that I would be offered a homestay instead of a dormitory, but it was not available, so I stayed with three women in their twenties in a nice, spacious apartment. Of course, I got my room. Commune life is familiar to me from my student days – 40 years ago – and it hasn’t changed since then. The two-week volunteer retreat cost me a lot, but it included everything I needed: accommodation, food, guidance… Two Norwegian young women were longer-term social work interns who were part of their studies, and an American worked as a volunteer for a more extended period. I never found out exactly how much I paid ended up at any level of activity. The project turned out to be painting a classroom at a local school. The relatively large classroom had been left unrenovated due to running out of resources, and the walls needed better shape. I had completely free hands to plan and implement the project. Of course, the plans were approved in a multi-stage and hierarchical Indian process. The attached pictures show how the project progressed. I was able to work mostly alone, which suited me well. The coordinator helped from time to time and delivered the necessary materials. I went to the paint store myself when the budget started to be spent. The school director’s son and his friend were helping out in the afternoon after school. They also flew kites with me over the rooftops of Jaipur after the day’s work. The project was completed faster than anticipated, and I received another job offer at the organization’s afternoon club. In the afternoon, the small room is filled with local children, some of whom have been at school in the morning, but most do not attend school. The area is technically a “slum”. The sides of the street are full of partly unlicensed rickety buildings – however, 2-3-story apartment buildings – with small apartments without amenities, where up to 15 people, a couple of families, live in each. I went to work in the morning to finish the day’s work before two, and the club opened. A few children appeared from the street to accompany us, and soon, a dozen of us were painting! At first, I was a little hesitant to give them the responsibility of painting, but they were really careful and learning. I painted the outlines and kept order so that everyone could paint. There were half a dozen “Me, mee, meee” reservations in line, and the painting areas had to be reduced so that there was enough for everyone. It took longer, and the quality was grittier, but the process was excellent. These kids took on the job without being asked. When a brush was used, it was washed in a flash, and the water changed, running there and back. English was also learned, as well as a few words of Hindi. Two different projects fit into a couple of weeks: one independent ended with official thanks, the school’s table standard, and thanks from the leaders, the other with cards made by children, laughter and wishes, “See soon!” (“You” was missing for many; they only learned English in this afternoon club.) One of the boys also wished, “Thank you for anything!” but the confusion, when their teacher corrected it, was resolved with a smile and thumbs up. Well, I’ll be back – because the murals have to be maintained from time to time. And there are certainly other things to do in that area.”

“Hi, my name is Demyan Kruglov and in August 2022 I spent two unforgettable weeks in Cape Town, South Africa, volunteering with an elementary school through the Sports Development Program. It was all about helping kids with their schoolwork and teaching them sports, but it turned out to be so much more. The best part was seeing the kids’ faces light up during our sports sessions. It wasn’t just about keeping them busy; it was about teaching them important life skills through play. I learned a lot too, like how to be flexible and make the best out of what you have.
