“I have just returned from two weeks in Sri Lanka, and this was the second trip I have organised with Volunteering Solutions for a group of 17 adults. Once again, Sahil went above and beyond to ensure that our trip was exactly what we wanted. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and any questions I had were answered quickly and efficiently, which made organising the trip so much easier. Our first week was spent in the same location, taking part in a variety of activities. These included visiting a turtle sanctuary, where we helped clean out the tanks and feed the turtles, a surfing lesson, river cleaning and mangrove planting. We stayed at Hotel J in Unawatuna, which was perfect for our group. Breakfast and lunch were included, with a buffet provided each day. The food was always fresh, plentiful and varied, and there was certainly more than enough to go around. The staff were fantastic and worked incredibly hard to make sure we were well looked after throughout our stay. Staff from AASHA accompanied us each day during our first week of activities. They were always friendly, helpful and enthusiastic, and their support really added to the experience. During our second week, we travelled across Sri Lanka and took part in a wide range of activities, including a safari where we were incredibly lucky to see leopards. Every day was extremely well organised, and we never had to worry about what was happening or where we needed to be. We were very fortunate to have Milee as our guide for the second week. He was absolutely amazing — extremely knowledgeable about every place we visited, friendly, approachable and always happy to answer our many questions. His knowledge of Sri Lanka really brought each destination to life, and he went out of his way to make sure everyone in our group had a fantastic experience. Overall, this was another incredible trip, and I cannot thank Volunteering Solutions, Sahil, Milee and everyone involved enough. The organisation, communication and support throughout the entire two weeks were exceptional. The guide was particularly outstanding and made such a positive difference to our experience. I would highly recommend Volunteering Solutions to anyone looking to organise a trip, and I would certainly use them again for our next adventure!”

“My experience in India with Volunteering Solutions was truly unforgettable and will always hold a special place in my heart. Through this program, I had the opportunity to experience things that I could never have experienced on my own. The activities were not only enjoyable but also incredibly educational, allowing me to learn so much about the local community, different cultures, and the importance of supporting children through education. Meeting the children and spending time with them was especially meaningful, and I am grateful for all the memories I made. Another highlight was the wonderful support provided by the Volunteering Solutions team. The staff were incredibly supportive, and I really appreciated the assistance they provided throughout my stay. I always felt safe throughout my stay as a solo female volunteer. They also took us to various places after our activities, which gave me the chance to explore more of India and experience its culture beyond the volunteering program itself. Throughout my experience, I felt well supported and did not encounter any significant difficulties. The excellent support system made the entire experience much more comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will cherish forever. I would highly recommend Volunteering Solutions to anyone looking for a meaningful, educational, and memorable volunteering experience abroad. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and all the wonderful memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

“It was an incredible experience; I never imagined I’d meet so many wonderful people and make so many friends! Living together in the house and the friendships formed were among the best parts. Unfortunately, I could only stay for two weeks, but I wish I had stayed for at least four. Every second was worth it. Regarding the medical program, I think it's worth it if you're a medical student, but as a doctor, I didn't find it very beneficial cause I already live in a reality of extreme poverty back in Brazil and work in a public health program”

“Dear Volunteering Solutions Team, I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to take part in the volunteering program in Tanzania. The experience was absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering volunteering abroad. During my stay, I volunteered at a daycare with around 25 children, where I supported the teacher with activities, homework and day-to-day tasks. One thing that really stood out to me was how valuable even the simplest help can be. For example, the teacher has to repeat and prepare everything for each of the 25 children, so having an extra person there makes a real difference and allows her to spend more time actually teaching and interacting with the children. I also had the opportunity to volunteer at SCDI, the centre supporting children with disabilities, where I helped with feeding and other daily activities. I was also able to buy some of the materials and supplies needed by the centre and by some of the families, and visit the families to deliver them. I also contributed with school supplies for the children. After asking some questions about how the different organisations and projects work financially, I also have a much better understanding of the relationship between Volunteering Solutions, Karibu Foundation and the local projects, which I really appreciate. It was very interesting to see how the support is directed according to the needs of each project. Overall, I am extremely grateful for the experience and for the work that everyone involved is doing. I came back feeling that even small contributions can have a real impact, and I would definitely recommend the program.”

“I would highly recommend Volunteering Solutions. The standard of service was outstanding. Every minute of every day was accounted for, providing exciting activities, wonderful hotels with plenty of down time if that is what you preferred. However, our trip reached an entirely different level when we met our second guide, Mirshad. He was keen to share his knowledge of the country, it's customs, history and people adding interesting details throughout the week. He accommodated our wishes making us believe all things were possible and nothing was too much trouble to arrange to ensure all members of our party were happy and entertained. His enthusiasm was infectious!”

“A very meaningful and humbling experience working in the rural health clinic in tacloban. The nurses, midwives and doctors are true heroes delivering healthcare to the local community with such limited resources. They were also very welcoming and supportive towards me as a paramedic, ensuring I was fully involved assisting them with clinical skills and patient assessment. Staying with the host family was a highlight in itself, it was a pleasure getting to know them and they truly went out the way to make sure I had everything I needed and felt at home. I would highly recommend this experience with Volunteer Solutions”

“Volunteering on the Kenya medical program was a total game-changer. Working directly alongside local hospital staff gave me real, hands-on experience you just can't get back home. The volunteer house was super safe and cozy, with delicious home-cooked meals served every day. The local staff were incredible—looking out for us 24/7 and even helping us organize a weekend safari. 10/10 recommend if you want to make a real impact!”

“Honestly, this turtle program in Sri Lanka was pure magic. Getting hands-on at the sanctuary and actually releasing sea turtles into the ocean is something I'll never forget. The volunteer house was super comfortable, safe, and felt like home—plus, the local home-cooked food served every day was out-of-this-world good. What really made it special, though, was the staff. They welcomed us with open arms, kept us safe, and helped with everything from daily conservation work to grabbing a tuk-tuk for weekend trips. If you're on the fence, just book it. You’ll leave with real memories, great friends, and zero regrets.”

“Unfortunately we didn’t get a good volunteering experience. Although the people at the clinic that we were assigned were amazing and very welcoming towards us, the clinic didn’t let us do things that medical students should do, we were not allowed to do many things. They asked us to help with search for documents at the reception, even though we were already informed that this could happens, it is still a medical volunteering program and we expected to be allowed to act as medical staff. Besides that, that was a lot of information given to us by the program that was not what was informed to us when we got there, like work hours and about medical scrubs, we had to buy one there. The clinic was not very sure what to do with us there.”

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased to hear that the clinic staff were welcoming and that you had a positive interaction with the local team. We are sorry, however, that the placement did not fully meet your expectations. Medical placements are designed primarily around supervised learning and observation, and the level of participation can vary depending on the healthcare setting, local regulations, patient safety considerations and the duration of the placement. As your placement was for a short period, the clinic focused initially on orientation, observation and administrative support tasks. Healthcare facilities also need time to become familiar with participants before allowing greater involvement in patient-facing activities. We also regret any confusion regarding the working hours and medical scrubs. We have taken this feedback seriously and will continue to review our pre-departure information to ensure expectations are communicated as clearly as possible. Following feedback from our local team and our review of the placement structure, we have already revised the minimum duration for our South Africa medical programmes to two weeks. We believe this will give participants and the clinic sufficient time to build familiarity and allow for a more meaningful and rewarding medical learning experience. Thank you again for your feedback. It has helped us make a positive change to the programme for future participants.
