“I have just returned from two weeks in Sri Lanka, and this was the second trip I have organised with Volunteering Solutions for a group of 17 adults. Once again, Sahil went above and beyond to ensure that our trip was exactly what we wanted. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and any questions I had were answered quickly and efficiently, which made organising the trip so much easier. Our first week was spent in the same location, taking part in a variety of activities. These included visiting a turtle sanctuary, where we helped clean out the tanks and feed the turtles, a surfing lesson, river cleaning and mangrove planting. We stayed at Hotel J in Unawatuna, which was perfect for our group. Breakfast and lunch were included, with a buffet provided each day. The food was always fresh, plentiful and varied, and there was certainly more than enough to go around. The staff were fantastic and worked incredibly hard to make sure we were well looked after throughout our stay. Staff from AASHA accompanied us each day during our first week of activities. They were always friendly, helpful and enthusiastic, and their support really added to the experience. During our second week, we travelled across Sri Lanka and took part in a wide range of activities, including a safari where we were incredibly lucky to see leopards. Every day was extremely well organised, and we never had to worry about what was happening or where we needed to be. We were very fortunate to have Milee as our guide for the second week. He was absolutely amazing — extremely knowledgeable about every place we visited, friendly, approachable and always happy to answer our many questions. His knowledge of Sri Lanka really brought each destination to life, and he went out of his way to make sure everyone in our group had a fantastic experience. Overall, this was another incredible trip, and I cannot thank Volunteering Solutions, Sahil, Milee and everyone involved enough. The organisation, communication and support throughout the entire two weeks were exceptional. The guide was particularly outstanding and made such a positive difference to our experience. I would highly recommend Volunteering Solutions to anyone looking to organise a trip, and I would certainly use them again for our next adventure!”

“A very meaningful and humbling experience working in the rural health clinic in tacloban. The nurses, midwives and doctors are true heroes delivering healthcare to the local community with such limited resources. They were also very welcoming and supportive towards me as a paramedic, ensuring I was fully involved assisting them with clinical skills and patient assessment. Staying with the host family was a highlight in itself, it was a pleasure getting to know them and they truly went out the way to make sure I had everything I needed and felt at home. I would highly recommend this experience with Volunteer Solutions”

“Volunteering on the Kenya medical program was a total game-changer. Working directly alongside local hospital staff gave me real, hands-on experience you just can't get back home. The volunteer house was super safe and cozy, with delicious home-cooked meals served every day. The local staff were incredible—looking out for us 24/7 and even helping us organize a weekend safari. 10/10 recommend if you want to make a real impact!”

“Honestly, this turtle program in Sri Lanka was pure magic. Getting hands-on at the sanctuary and actually releasing sea turtles into the ocean is something I'll never forget. The volunteer house was super comfortable, safe, and felt like home—plus, the local home-cooked food served every day was out-of-this-world good. What really made it special, though, was the staff. They welcomed us with open arms, kept us safe, and helped with everything from daily conservation work to grabbing a tuk-tuk for weekend trips. If you're on the fence, just book it. You’ll leave with real memories, great friends, and zero regrets.”

“Unfortunately we didn’t get a good volunteering experience. Although the people at the clinic that we were assigned were amazing and very welcoming towards us, the clinic didn’t let us do things that medical students should do, we were not allowed to do many things. They asked us to help with search for documents at the reception, even though we were already informed that this could happens, it is still a medical volunteering program and we expected to be allowed to act as medical staff. Besides that, that was a lot of information given to us by the program that was not what was informed to us when we got there, like work hours and about medical scrubs, we had to buy one there. The clinic was not very sure what to do with us there.”

We are sorry, however, that the placement did not fully meet your expectations. Medical placements are designed primarily around supervised learning and observation, and the level of participation can vary depending on the healthcare setting, local regulations, patient safety considerations and the duration of the placement. As your placement was for a short period, the clinic focused initially on orientation, observation and administrative support tasks. Healthcare facilities also need time to become familiar with participants before allowing greater involvement in patient-facing activities. We also regret any confusion regarding the working hours and medical scrubs. We have taken this feedback seriously and will continue to review our pre-departure information to ensure expectations are communicated as clearly as possible. Following feedback from our local team and our review of the placement structure, we have already revised the minimum duration for our South Africa medical programmes to two weeks. We believe this will give participants and the clinic sufficient time to build familiarity and allow for a more meaningful and rewarding medical learning experience. Thank you again for your feedback. It has helped us make a positive change to the programme for future participants.

“Volunteering in Tacloban has been one of the most life-changing experiences I've ever had. I came to the Philippines alone from Spain, feeling excited but also nervous, and I left with unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships, and a completely new perspective on life. The Nutrition Program allowed me to work with local communities, schools, and children while learning about public health in a real-world setting. Every day was different, meaningful, and full of opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. What made this experience truly special were the people. The local staff were incredibly supportive, the coordinators were always available whenever we needed help, and my host family made me feel at home from day one. I will always be grateful to Ate Tess and Angelica for treating me like part of their family. The children completely stole my heart. Their happiness, kindness, and resilience reminded me that sometimes the smallest moments leave the biggest impact. I honestly think they taught me more than I taught them. Of course, living in Tacloban means adapting to a very different lifestyle. The weather is hot and humid, resources are limited, and things don't always work the way they do back home. But if you arrive with an open mind and a willingness to learn, these differences become part of what makes the experience so valuable. This experience gave me much more than volunteer work. It gave me confidence, independence, resilience, and new dreams for my future. I returned home not only with more knowledge as a future healthcare professional, but also as a better person. Thank you, Volunteer Solutions, for giving me an experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I hope to come back to the Philippines one day. 🇵🇭🤍”

The booking and organization process with Volunteering Solutions was simple and straightforward, and the coordinators helped us with everything. The only thing I would like to point out is that the website mentions an experience involving volunteers from all over the world, but in reality, it was just me and the friend I traveled with—even though we had been told there were other applications for that period.”
