We experienced the most traumatic experience when we rang VETS NOW in Tunbridge Wells with an emergency. Our pet French Bulldog had a seizure and we rang to take him to Tunbridge, we were told that it was not possible as they were too busy, and told to go to Maidstone( no idea where this is or was) we asked for an alternative and then were asked to go to Caterham which at least we had an idea where this was. Caterham Vet was able and reassuring. On returning home the dog had another seizure, and we again sought help from Caterham who suggested we wait until the following morning and then take the dog back to Tunbridge Wells, which was closed. Our own vet is closed on Saturday so we were then told to go to another vet, who said they could not treat him. Eventually at 1500 hours we drove 2 hours to the Royal Vet College Potters Bar where we received excellent treatment. Without doubt the experience was traumatic and one we never wish to repeat again in our lives. The service provided by your organisation that evening was appalling, due to the fact not enough resources, overworked tired staff, and little consideration for animals and the owners

Arrived with a dog having involuntary muscle spasms after a walk in the woods. Sat in the waiting room for an hour and a half, by which time the spasms had stopped. Paid a ridiculous amount of money for someone to take her temperature and send us home. I understand prioritisation, I understand out of hours fees, but the combination of everything made it a very stressful experience.

Disappointed with how treatment has been given and advice is vague. No thought is given to circumstances. Night staff were more help than day.

I phoned before I arrived at the vet to say my cat had been ran over. When I arrived nobody knew anything about it. The vet I saw was very nice and sympathetic however the reception staff was not. They were very abrupt and appeared to not care even though I was stood infront of them crying. I waited about 2 weeks and didnt hear anything back in relation to my cats cremation. Therefore I phoned up to be told my cat ashes was there in the reception area. I then received a phone call a short while later telling me the details and results in relation to another pet that was obviously there receiving treatment. I said they had the wrong number and the women practically hung up on me. I phoned back to confirm that had my details and my cats details correct as I didn't want to end up with another pet's ashes. The women again was abrupt and said that my phoned number was 1 didgit different to the one she meant to phone which I felt hard to believe All in all I was very disappointed in the whole service and just wanted to get my cats ashes back. I wouldn't be using the services again.

Extortionate. We had to ask if there was an alternative way of helping out pet. The vet spent two minutes examining her and then spent the next 15 minutes coming up with an estimate. I would really loathe to use these vets again but it seems if you have an emergency, this is it.

The care my pet received was fantastic and I cannot doubt that. However the company should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for charging the price they do for a consultation. The price for a consultation, i.e. just to see my dog, was £178. A normal consultation is between £35 and £40. Now I understand that it is out of hours, and I think double the normal cost would be fair. Triple the normal cost would only be £120 and even that is extortionate. Vets now are preying on compassionate animal owners to fund their profits. There is no need for it to be that expensive and I dread to think of how many people simply cannot afford that sort of money for a consultation and their pets suffer. That is not on them, that is solely because of vets now and they should be ashamed of themselves to be perfectly honest. The actual vet on the ground was lovely and clearly cared for the animals, but the management of vets now clearly do not otherwise they would not charge such unnecessary and exorbitant prices.

We waited an hour in the waiting room to be seen, i was then told hes very bad as if i had left it too long before bringing him. Then the vet spoke longer about the money than the treatment & the welfair of our pet, i was given an invoice of a grand that included tests and sedation alng with a misclanious figure that they described as " just to round it up" ??? As i was extreamly upset & concerned that my best friend was so unwell i didnt really think about things at the time i was told he wiuld need to be hospitalised & given iv fluids & that they would do tests. I had a phonecall @ 4am to tell me my boy had passed away. I went to collect him so we could bury him at home & i asked for reasurance "he didnt suffer did he?" The responce was........ " erm well i dont think so, i havent read his notes!!!!" I was then issued a new bill of £600 as our pet had not survived long enough to stay in their care for the 21 hours they had originally quoted & also after further inspection of yhe bill they had infact not treated him at all as there was no sedation pain relief or tests done after we had gone. ???? So as far as im concerned they just put him on a drip & threw him out back to suffer & die alone. I can see no attempt to find the cause, treat him or make things comfortable for him. I felt that my visit was too much work for them after all they had already secured the payment by making me sign a form which said if my pet does not survive i am still liable for the costs & if i fail to pay they would enforse court procedings! I recently used this service for the second in 3 years. After my first experience I vowed never to use them again. However, last week I found myself having to use them again for my sick cat. It was 7.20pm and my cat had a uti which in some cases can cause a blockage which can cause death. Anyway it was £160 to step over the threshold, it was another £110 for blood test. Once we were discussing the results our cat was slightly dehydrated (their words) and we were advised it would be best to keep the cat overnight to put him on a drip. Having had experience of this previously I was so worried about the bill. I was advised the bill would be between £700 - £1000, when asked was the cats condition life threatening they so no. How do they justify these sort of charges. Any animal lover has their pets best interest at heart but I can honest say vets now are only interested in charging outrageous fees and taking advantage of people when they are volmerable. In Milton Keynes these are the out of hours service, there is no choice but to use them. Scandalous

Staff were uninterested in us only the money, we were quoted one price and given another when we got there, Our dog sadly passed away, then the body wasn’t sent for cremation as they hadn’t marked us down as paid! And we had to arrange alternative arrangements, but the lady in head office who delt with our complaint was great and got things moving for us to sort our own arrangements

After taking my dog to get a grass seed removed from his ear on Sunday 26th August, I was disappointed to have to take him again the next day. As the problem had not been cleared. He then suffered a perforated eardrum. I was offered no explanation as to why it wasn’t found the previous day and why he suffered? The whole experience cost £635.00. Not sure why I was paying for a second consultation, won’t be recommending this practice to anyone.

Was seen to promptly but extortionate prices and when I visited my own vets the following day is was told that vets now did not administer any antibiotics to my dog which they thought was unusual considering my dog had ripped out 1 of he’s nails so there was a risk of infection

A traumatic time was made worse by the cold reception we got from the staff, especially the vet. We didn’t feel any empathy from her at all. She did not even say goodbye to us. We were not happy having to leave our beloved dog with them. We hope her body was treated with more respect than we were.

Vet was polite and informative and kept our dog in for tests etc. He was supposed to be in for 14 hrs minimum. Sent home after 4hrs. The next morning he was still showing the same symptoms so had to pay to get him seen at our normal vets emergency Sunday surgery and when they read the paperwork it transpires that our dog had been tested for things but had been given no actual treatment for his symptoms. A very expensive trip for no treatment!

Vets were lovely, although was quite annoyed as my pet needed X-ray and anaesthetic got told £290 only for them to ring to say he was ready to tell me they forgot to add the £170 on for X-ray! Felt like this was done on purpose so we would have to pay the rest to pick up our dog.

2 stars for the 2hrs that we had to wait in an emergency. The staff where pleasant enough when they were to be seen. There was no sufficient communication from staff, a lack of presence, no air conditioning or air ventilation in a hot and stuffy waiting room and no water for the animals until I asked and even then the other animals needs were not tended to fast enough or at all re: water. Unfortunately, the worst service i've ever encountered.

Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with us. All our clinics operate on a triage basis to ensure we treat the sickest, most critical cases first, which sometimes means other clients will need to wait, particularly if the clinic is busy over night or at the weekend. All our clinical team do their best to ensure pets are seen quickly, and made comfortable while waiting, but occasionally we must ask clients to wait while we treat those pets deemed the most at risk. If you want to discuss your specific case, please get in touch with clientcare@vets-now.com and we can look into this for you. Kind regards, Kirsty
