“I recently purchased a Hikvision DS-2CD2342WD-I 4MP from Use-IP. I was looking for a 4mp, PoE, weatherproof outdoor camera and wanted to achieve as much coverage of my driveway as possible so opted for the 2.8mm lens. I was also keen to try a turret camera as I have found that the mounts for bullet cameras can loosen over time meaning the camera needs to be periodically re-adjusted .. though this could be the mounts/cameras I have used in the past (or my bad DIY skills). Installation was a piece of cake. The camera comes with a template with three drill holes but I opted to mount my camera on a wall mount (Hikvision DS-1273ZJ-130-TRL - sold separately). Unfortunately, this didn’t come with a template and my poor DIY skills, combined with a long reach at the top of an 8’ ladder meant only 3 of the 4 drill holes lined up!). The camera fixed onto the mount with four screws, I connected one end of my Cat6 cable to the camera’s connector, fixed the mount to the wall, connected the other end of the Cat6 cable to the Plug-in PoE injector and, bingo, physical installation was complete. I used the software that came with the camera (HikVision’s SADP Tool) to initialise / set-up the camera and it was up and trunning within a few minutes. The angle of the camera wasn’t quite right, but this was easily adjusted with just one screw: loosen screw, manually adjust camera, tighten screw. Done. I have a Synology NAS and prefer to use the Synology Surveillance Station software (and mobile app) to manage my CCTV cameras and recordings – so also spent a few minutes setting this up – which means I won’t really use the proprietary software (though, if I recall correctly, I had to use it at first to initialise the camera). Overall, I’m very pleased with the quality of the camera itself and the picture – especially at this price point. I’m particularly impressed with the night-vision. I have a powerful LED floodlight that is motion activated and mounted immediately below the HikVision camera which provides further slightly better visibility at night, but even without this, the night-vision is excellent. I’ve attached a few pictures to show samples of image quality during the day and night, with and without the LED flood light and also a picture of the camera in situ (on the mount). Also a quick comment about Use-IP. I had a few queries before I purchased this camera and sent an email and Kieran replied with some excellent advice in a very comprehensive email. The camera was delivered quickly and well packaged. Overall, a great shopping experience and I have no doubt I will purchase again from Use-IP in the future. Great job !”

“Great web site, great prices. Their Youtube channel to check out camera quality before buying is great. Helpful online chat with quick response. Online forums for help with setups. Ordered without hiccup and delivered next day without problems. This is what a good company is, don't be fooled without online prices, they sell legitimate UK stock, don't be fooled by other sellers online. A few pounds more for all this peace of mind and help is worth the extra. Ask them for a discount if the price is an issue! All in all a great company! I will definitely use them again when I need more cameras.”

Hello Jim, I'm very sorry that you were so disappointed that you left us our worst customer review ever! If you re-visit the product page, you'll see that as the software is FREE you don't need to purchase it and wait for us to fulfil an order for you - the very first sentence of the product page description links you to download it from the manufacturer's website (always their latest most up to date version). Our product page is here: https://www.use-ip.co.uk/acti-nvr-v3-0-software.html It states: Quick Overview Free Video Recording Software (for 16-camera licence) 'Download from the manufacturer's website' You would also have seen when you completed your purchase on Christmas Day morning that our office was closed until January 3rd: "Please note that the cutoff for our Christmas delivery has now passed. Any orders made from December 23rd onwards will be fulfilled when our office re-opens on January 3rd." (Screenshots of the checkout pages attached, this message was in a bold red banner at the top) Our devs have now made some additional custom changes to our webshop so that in future there will be further more specific red banner warnings if somebody purchases software with a value of £0. The warning message will now make it absolutely clear that you can simply follow a link and download the free software, Best Regards, Phil

They've also been very helpul with the inevitable complications of setting up the system.
