When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“The service is pretty good, contracting is easy and startightforward (albeit with a big technical flaw - see below). I also had a claim once and it was also a pretty simple process: registering the claim, approval and payment were all quite fast. The one thing I really find annoying is that when you buy the insurance you can't submit the form when you are on VPN (which I use almost constantly because of work). Which is understandable, but they don't tell you this upon opening the page, but only after you entered all your details, and when you disconnect from the VPN and reload the page all entered the data is lost. There is a "save form" available, but it only saves the selected products, not the data that you entered in the form. For me, that was very annoying as I had to fill out all the details three separate times. I really wish they saved all data entered in the form when saving it....”

“I couldn’t recommend True Traveller enough. My experience with them was excellent. I went on a 8 month backpacking trip and unfortunately had a couple of issues that were within the outpatient policy so True Traveller were able to reimburse me. The process of submitting a claim is easy and their response is so fast. Within a couple of days, I received a confirmation email and by the time I read the email, the funds were in my bank account. 10/10 experience, thank you True Traveller.”

“I have been using true traveller for years now for different travels. Only the other month I sustained an Injury abroad and needed help. I swiftly got in contact and found there communication excelente. But only did they communication well but my case was handled very personally. I was very impressed with their service and my claim was handled easily and I was reimbursed for all the medical expenses that my injury had cost whilst abroad. Thank you true traveller for and excellent service. Definitely recomend”

“The staff here are very friendly and knowledgable, the insurance covers a lot of things that would normally be tricky to find cover for and when I claimed for a delayed service causing me to miss my train home, it was approved and paid in to my account in a matter of days. Amazing service, will be my port of call from now on.”

“Cost of 1 week extension was extortionate. The cost for extending by 1 week was 30% of the original premium paid. This wasn’t explained when I asked about extending it at the time of purchasing the policy.”

Hi there Almost all travel insurers won't let you take out extra cover when you're already abroad, but we do. We show our FAQs how it is applied: "Can I take out another policy whilst I'm still travelling? Yes. If you’re not entirely sure how long you’ll be away, you can, for example, take a policy for three months, and then take out an extension policy for a further two months, giving you a total duration of five-months. The cost of an extension policy will be the regular cost for the new period of insurance, less 10%. Note however you only get the discount if your new period of cover is equal to or less than your current policy. In common with most forms of insurance, the longer the contract is for, the lower the daily rate becomes. So, one five-month policy will be cheaper than a three-month policy, followed by another two-month policy. So do take this into consideration when choosing the length of your policy. Please go to our Extend your Insurance page for further information. Note if your insurance has expired already, we cannot do this, and you will have to purchase a new policy." As we say one long policy is always better value than shorter, separate policies. True Traveller
