True Traveller - Travel Insurance designed by Travellers

When travelling overseas, the one thing you should never skimp on is your travel insurance cover, as should things go wrong you want the very best cover for you and your possessions.

At The True Traveller, we’re used to advising people on travelling all around the world, and due to feedback from our customers we’ve changed our insurance website, made it even better value and extended the range of products.

On Single Trips, we offer three Policies called True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus. True Value is designed for travellers under 40 years of age, and is designed for last minute travellers and backpackers. The Traveller policy, our most popular, is designed for holiday makers and adventurous travellers alike, and Traveller Plus gives enhanced medical and cancellation cover.

On our Multi Trip Policies, again we offer the Traveller policy valid for unlimited trips throughout the year for durations up to 30 days, and the Traveller Plus policy which offers enhanced cover for unlimited trips lasting up to 70 days. We also have a budget True Value Policy for travellers under 40 years of age.

We’ve tried to get the prices as keen as possible on all our insurances. This means on the Single Trip and Multi-Trip you have the option to exclude Baggage Cover as this may well be covered in your Home Contents insurance; you also have the option to add-in different activity packs. The Traveller Pack covers 92 of the regular holiday activities which you will get involved in, and covers clerical/non-manual work as standard. The Adventure Pack covers a further 41 activities and is designed for the more adventurous traveller and backpacker, covering trekking to 4,600m, as well as volunteer work and manual work. The Extreme and Ultimate Packs covers all the more extreme and ultimate adventures. The Extreme covers trekking over 4,600m to any altitude, as well as Scuba Diving to 50M. The Ultimate covers Hang Gliding, Mountaineering and Polo to name just three of the Ultimate adventures!

“It was easy to see and select the insurance cover I need. I have not made a claim at this time, so I cannot comment on how good they are at handling claims.”

“True traveller have been excellent!! Having fractured my foot whilst on holiday in Bali I returned to the U.K. and made a claim straight away. The return process was very simple to follow online and the communication excellent. I was assigned Wilma to look into my claim and told it would take 2 days to process and 10 to receive payment on their approving my claim. The following day I received an email to say my claim had been paid less the excess. Very impressive and thank you Wilma for a swift conclusion to my claim. Well recommended!!!”

“I have Crohn’s disease and although it is currently inactive this was the only travel insurance company I could find that were willing to cover me for less than £700! All my trips, excursions and activities are covered and my medical condition. A huge relief for both my stress levels and my bank account!! Would really recommend.”

“Haven't started travelling yet, or made a claim, so I can't report on that. This was far and away the cheapest and most flexible policy for my needi. I'm 65, have a couple of existing conditions, and am planning a one-year backpacking bucket trip. There are very few competitors providing such a policy, and the cheapest I could find was 3 times the price of the TT offer. It's possible to start your trip outside your country of residence, and you can even return home and resume your trip later on the one trip policy, if you pay for that cover. The application process is intuitive and straightforward. The Google Wallet mini-app looks user-friendly and allows for free telephone access from around the world to the emergency claim line.”

“Both my gf and I got sick 2 days before leaving for a physically demanding trip. We went to the hospital and got treated. It was a huge blow, we had been planning for this trip for 6 months. We trained hard for it. But the staff at true traveller was extremely helpful and refunded us the money without any delay and helped us. From now on, every single trip I take, I will choose true traveller. They gained two customers for life. Thank you very much.”

“Wilma dealt with my unfortunate holiday cancellation claim quickly and politely, keeping me updated along the way. Only days after providing all the information requested the claim was paid. I’ve purchased 3 policies with True Traveller this year for myself/my son and would consider using them again. I found their ‘emergency assistance (abroad)’ team weren’t as supportive as I would’ve liked, but their online webchat team were super responsive and extremely helpful.”
