“We love the beam and how it looks over the fireplace. It was delivered quickly and is certainly very solid. Our only trouble was that we bought drill bits for granite which ended up being too short. Our mistake, but it would have been helpful in the instructions if it had specified how long the drill bits need to be.”

Sorry to hear you had some installation issues, all of the relevant information is on the installation instructions which were sent to you, including the length of the drill bit needed, sorry if you missed this information. “The wood quality and finish are very nice, but we're going to have to add brackets to the shelves as it doesn't seem like they can hold much weight on their 'floating' capacity. Wish I had known earlier, as we would have bought bracketed – and deeper – shelves to begin with.”

“I’ve now bought 4 timber ‘mantles’ for use over log burning stoves in new build applications. I’ve built 2 houses and the beams look absolutely wicked. So good we took advantage of a sale and purchased another 2 for the next houses we are building. There was a slight hiccup when one of the beams was damaged during delivery. Once aware of this, Traditional beams took the damaged one back without question and are now in the process of preparing a replacement. You can always judge a company by their ability to overcome damage or other issues and Traditional beams certainly deserve top marks for their customer support. Product great, customer service great only wish I was building more houses to again enjoy the quality product offered by Traditional beams. Thanks to everyone involved. Regards Mike Mordecai”

“Ordered two beams, the order process itself was really easy. One shelf was really nice, looks perfect, however, the second shelf was bowed and does not look very good at all. I sent an email to raise the issue, complete with photo, but was told that it can be normal for a shelf to be bowed or warped. It is such a shame as we looked around for a long time to get the right look for our living room and feel a little let down that we paid more for a bespoke product rather than something ‘off the shelf’ and will now need to get something mainstream to replace this beam. The shelves were meant to be a taking point in the house, unfortunately it is a now a talking point for all the wrong reasons. Such a shame as could not recommend these beams to anybody on the basis they may also get a bowed shelf and will be unable to return or exchange it for a straight one.”

Hi Mark, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you are not happy with one of your rustic pine floating shelves. As explained a little bit of movement/cupping is normal as the shelf adjusts to it's new heated environment. It is just the nature of the product. I have checked our email communication with you and we did request for some further photos from you as the one provided only showed a tiny bit of movement, whereas you advised the shelf had seriously bowed. Unfortunately, this email was not responded to. Please feel free to respond to us and we can look at other options for you as we would not want you to be unhappy with your order from us.
