“It's a great idea but in practice wasn't very useful. Most matches either didn't reply, or did reply, but then said they only post for pay. The vast majority of matches appeared to have fake users. All in all it's difficult to say the month of use was worthwhile.”

Hi Leo, This is Stefan from Social Cat; thanks for sharing this. We agree with you that there is more work to be done on the engagement of our platform (the matches that are not replying, sometimes), and our team is looking for ways to boost engagement, both for brands and creators. Related to the paid influencers, did you get a chance to inform us about this? I looked over your account, and indeed, you are looking mainly for gifted collaborations. Sometimes, some of the influencers, although aware that some collaborations are gifted, still try and push for paid. Unfortunately, this is hard to control, especially if we are unaware of this. If we get informed via email or by opening a report (reports are manually monitored daily), we can definitely help with this. Rolling back to the engagement, I think another reason for the lack of replies from influencers, in this case, is related to the fact that your brand is quite niched, which makes it harder for influencers to accept a collaboration. We're not saying this to defend ourselves necessarily, as we know there is work to be done for the product, but it's more of a personal thought. Sometimes, with niched brands, it gets a bit more tricky to get the influencers excited. Related to the "fake users," our micro-influencers are manually vetted before getting accepted on the platform, but sometimes, some of them might slip through the cracks. I think this is an isolated case, as this is not our experience with hundreds of other brands working with us in the US, the UK, and Australia. We're working to improve the product and the experience, and in the future, we invite you to try it out again, if you would like, free of charge, to see our progress. “I am fairly new to Social Cat but overall am really impressed with how it works and I have worked with some fantastic brands already. I love receiving my Daily Digest email and have also enjoyed discovering new brands, even those that may not necessarily be within my niche. The introductions are done promptly when I am matched with a brand and deliverables at this stage are usually very clear. My only criticism is that as an influencer it would be helpful to know what the deliverables are before matching with a brand. I know some already do this but I’m always hesitant to commit to ‘liking’ a brand without knowing at least an outline of their expectations.”

“Overall, very happy with Social Cat. The interface works great, and it's very easy to get hooked up with microinfluencers. I'm not getting as many matches as I'd hoped for, but that may have to do with the fact that my niche may correspond with a smaller pool of creators than, say, products for moms/babies. Hopefully there will be more creators on-boarded in the decorating/home design space soon, because the tool is really enjoyable to use!”

“Really wonderful marketplace to connect with small brands who understand and appreciate the power of mutual collaboration and content creation. I do wish more brands on the site would respond more reliably with the influencers, but I know that’s on the brand, not Social Cat. A couple of months in, I have only worked with 2 brands in the skincare and food industries. They have been phenomenal, and I wish more were like that!”
