I found The TEFL Academy course exceeded my expectations, the course is incredibly varied and with each module I learnt something new; I learnt how to develop and facilitate activities and lesson plans, as well as classroom management skills. The course gave me an appreciation of the theories and development of EFL teaching over time, as well as the conscientiousness of cultural dimensions and differences while teaching abroad. The 20 hour practical teaching component was a great two days of fun, the teacher was open, insightful and very knowledgeable, I know that I will use what I learnt there in my future teaching practice. The course materials were packed full of easy to read information; making it a great course for training to be an EFL teacher, but also a great way to improve understanding of your native English language. The course materials also had recommendations of other free and helpful websites for further study. The feedback (which always came back quickly) from completed modules was always positive and encouraging, with useful tips to consider for future modules or lesson plans. I have no regrets choosing the TEFL Academy as my vehicle for certification, and would (and actually have) recommend the course to others wishing to become an EFL teacher.

Having recently finished the TEFL 120 hour course I would just like to say how satisfied that I am with the whole experience. The 20 hour weekend which begins the course was challenging but confirmed to me that TEFL was something that I really wanted to do. The online phase of the course was very good, the written materials provided an overall education of the history of TEFL as well as the tools to complete the assignments. Feedback from the teachers had the right mix of encouragement and helpful correction. This is a course I would definitely recommend to anyone who is thinking about teaching English as a foreign language.

I began the 120 hour course with the TEFL academy to help build on previous teaching experience and to boost my confidence in teaching adult students. After completing the course I feel I have developed as a teacher and have become more creative in my teaching methods. This course is perfect for the traveller in me as I can now teach anywhere in the world and have been looking to begin in South Korea. Thanks to The TEFL Academy I can't wait for my next adventure to begin.

The TEFL academy are very helpful when it comes to preparing you for teaching abroad. The class tutor was amazing, she was very energetic and really gave us valuable information for teaching English. She gave us lots of examples we could use for activities and really made us feel comfortable. The online material was excellent, it provided alot of useful examples and explanations regarding teaching abroad. Overall the TEFL academy was excellent, the certificate was posted out quickly and they are very helpful when it comes to applying for jobs. I would recommend the TEFL academy to anyone who wants to teach English abroad as they are very helpful.

The TEFL academy is an excellent way for the future EFL teachers to experience a very well-structured and extremely useful course. TEFL provide 20 hours of an in-class approach with a highly experienced tutor, this prepares EFL teachers brilliantly before they decide to teach english abroad as I have found and many others have found this approach to be the most effective way in learning how to teach english abroad. Also TEFL provide 100-hours of online resources ranging from lesson plans, essays, CV and job websites and I must say I am one of the luckiest EFL teachers to receive this kind of training as it has helped me to secure a job in China and without this I would not been able to do so. I highly recommend that before anybody considers teaching english abroad they must book a place with the TEFL academy as they are the one number company in preparing EFL teachers before they decide to teach.

The course was very good it held my interest from beginning to end. I found that it was very well thought out and easy to follow. The feedback when received was encouraging and help full. I am glad to have chosen this course - especially doing it online. I found this very convenient and it fitted around my home and work life. I look forward to teaching abroad and with the assistance from the TEFL staff I envisage this will be as smooth running as was the online course

I'd like to recommend this high-quality TEFL course to anyone who's interested in getting started his career in TEFL teaching. A friend of mine told me about The TEFL Academy in late August this year and I decided to have a look at what they were offering. The weekend course was excellent, very well organized, the tutor was brilliant and the contents extremely useful and helpful for those who hadn't any experience in teaching. The online course was extremely organized, with the lesson materials useful for each assignment clearly written. I must admit that one of the point I liked the most is the high quality of the tutors' job, they are always there to help you answer your questions and to give you all the information you need. They got back to me always so quickly. I'm right now applying for some jobs in SE Asia through their board. I'd recommend The TEFL Academy to anyone looking for the perfect start in EFL teaching. Good luck!

Fantastic course which gives you a great insight into the TEFL working environment. The tutor on the 20 hour weekend course Emma was amazing- professional, engaging, honest and gave a high standard of constructive feedback throughout. Each module has an information PDF which contains a great deal of tips and ideas which will help improve your lessons as a TEFL tutor. 120 hours may seem a lot but they flew by particularly due to the prompt feedback given by the tutors which made the whole course more worthwhile. The way the course is structured enables you to assess your competence and individual teaching style as you go along preparing lessons and incorporating appropriate activities for your students. Well and truly prepares you for what's coming ahead in your TEFL career. Best way to make a positive difference to someone's life while also developing your skills working in such a competitive market and travelling all over the world!

This course is very enjoyable and informative! During the weekend phase of the course, the teacher managed to keep everyone interested for the entire time, which was extremely difficult given that it was for ten hours each day. The online phase of the course is clearly laid out and every module was extremely useful!

I booked a place on the course several weeks ago. Overall I believe it was a good course. I believe I learned a lot without being overwhelmed with work. The face to face teaching portion of the course was great. The teacher was very fun, informative and provided many ideas that will come in useful when I start my job. It was also excellent how much information was fitted in. When it comes to the online section it really is what you make of it. The TEFL academy will provide some reading and guidance but it is up to yourself to go and research the subject and find other sources that will give you help. My only criticism is feedback and coursework guidelines could be more consistent with some TEFL staff saying some things are ok while other staff mark you down for it.

Thanks to TEFL Academy, I have passed my 20hrs face to face, 100hrs online and just got my first placement! What a great, well constructed course, Lynne is an excellent teacher and the pace of the weekend was perfect. I left the weekend in Southampton keen to progress my studies and try my hand at TEFL. The online modules were harder than I expected, but with the appropriate time, you can pass them all, the teachers will provide feedback if they feel you didn't complete the work to a high standard, but given effort, all modules are achievable!

I throughly enjoyed my course, you are in charge of your own and speed and progress, once you have gotten your contact time out of the way, the only pressure you have, is knowing you have a year to complete the course. I work full time and have other outside interests, but I still managed to complete the course in less than three months. The feedback provided by the tutors and support given is very helpful. You are not left waiting long for feeback or your makrs and they are really helpful in giving you pointers. If you want to get a a disitinction I would personally recommend getting acquaited with all the available materials, coursebooks etc. They are all available for use within your local library. I really enjoyed my course and you get out of it, what you put in. Now I just have to work out where I want to go.

I took this course to boost my skills (I am currently working as a tutor to children with SEN needs). I was nervous at returning to study (it has been a long time since my degree!) but the tutor for the initial classroom module was friendly and expert at putting everyone at ease. The sessions we covered were a good preparation for the online modules and the feedback for each completed assignment was quickly delivered and helpful. The positive comments provided helped point me in the right direction for future submissions and also really helped boost my confidence. It was great to be able to spread the course over a year - I am a mother of two and I also work, so I just didn't have time to take 5 weeks off to study. I could fit the course around work / family life and the course information was clear and easy to access which greatly assisted in completing the course successfully. I highly recommend this course and the skills I have learned have already been very useful in working with my current students.

I had decided that I wanted to undertake a TEFL course to add a string to my skill set and I carried out some on line analysis of the options available I found the TEFL academy and looked into their reviews and course structure which seemed impressive and well constructed. I have done a number of distance learning courses in my time and feel myself to be fairly well self-motivated to get to the end of such an endeavour. I must emphasis that being self-motivated is a crucial aspect in completing the course as 12 months can pass very quickly. I undertook my 20 hours weekend class session in Newcastle, which was a fun time with the mix of the class members lead by the enthusiastic teacher. The on line modules were interesting and allowed for a fair degree of out of the box creative thinking which I found immensely enjoyable. I set myself a target of completing approximately one module per month as working full time in a travel intensive role is not conducive to completing work to the level I would expect of myself, consequently, I completed the course in 9 months which is significantly longer than many others who seem to be able to finish the whole course in a matter of weeks, that said, my view is that the journey is often better than the destination and the multitude of minor goals were certainly satisfying to me.

I thought our tutor in Brighton was excellent-Joe Piercy. He was entertaining and gave the appearance of being laid back but was in reality incisive, motivating and thought provoking. The online information was interesting and covered a balance between EFL philosophy and practical lesson planning. I never felt I was just going through the motions as each assignment was stimulating and at times challenging. The work was marked promptly. The comments were encouraging but at times a bit general-more of a verbal version of your mark. I would definitely recommend the 120 hour course.

If you are looking for an enjoyable and flexible way to learn how to teach English as a foreign language, then the TEFL course will meet your needs! The 20 hour weekend is quite intense, but is just one weekend and a fun one at that. You have the opportunity to teach (in another language if possible!), meet other people doing the same course, and to learn the basics of EFL teaching. This, combined with the 100 hours online is really nothing considering that you are allocated a year to complete the whole course! The online modules are great, they provide more than enough information and are extremely helpful when it comes to planning lessons for the assignments. I could not fault this material, it is very straightforward and thorough. Furthermore, if you need help with anything, there is a way to contact a tutor directly through the TEFL log in page (which you will be able to access after you have done your 20 hour weekend) and they respond quickly and efficiently. The assignments are fairly considered and do not ask too much. The grammar exam is also much more simple that initially expected. I spent hours practicing my verb tenses, yet am pleased that I did as now I can spot them almost instantly. It is surprising how you forget these sorts of things that are taught in primary school, and yet they are vital to the English language! To anyone looking to further their career in teaching and possibly teaching abroad, I would recommend this course!

As an online course to teach you how to teach EFL (in its many forms), this was good and worthwhile. Even though feedback was not always balanced (perhaps too many positives, which is a good thing for many people), it was prompt. After receiving the qualification, I doubt that I will have difficulty finding a job with it - The TEFL Academy send me emails regularly about good quality TEFL jobs abroad. I was satisfied by the whole course.
