Thanks to TEFL Academy, I have passed my 20hrs face to face, 100hrs online and just got my first placement! What a great, well constructed course, Lynne is an excellent teacher and the pace of the weekend was perfect. I left the weekend in Southampton keen to progress my studies and try my hand at TEFL. The online modules were harder than I expected, but with the appropriate time, you can pass them all, the teachers will provide feedback if they feel you didn't complete the work to a high standard, but given effort, all modules are achievable!

I throughly enjoyed my course, you are in charge of your own and speed and progress, once you have gotten your contact time out of the way, the only pressure you have, is knowing you have a year to complete the course. I work full time and have other outside interests, but I still managed to complete the course in less than three months. The feedback provided by the tutors and support given is very helpful. You are not left waiting long for feeback or your makrs and they are really helpful in giving you pointers. If you want to get a a disitinction I would personally recommend getting acquaited with all the available materials, coursebooks etc. They are all available for use within your local library. I really enjoyed my course and you get out of it, what you put in. Now I just have to work out where I want to go.

I took this course to boost my skills (I am currently working as a tutor to children with SEN needs). I was nervous at returning to study (it has been a long time since my degree!) but the tutor for the initial classroom module was friendly and expert at putting everyone at ease. The sessions we covered were a good preparation for the online modules and the feedback for each completed assignment was quickly delivered and helpful. The positive comments provided helped point me in the right direction for future submissions and also really helped boost my confidence. It was great to be able to spread the course over a year - I am a mother of two and I also work, so I just didn't have time to take 5 weeks off to study. I could fit the course around work / family life and the course information was clear and easy to access which greatly assisted in completing the course successfully. I highly recommend this course and the skills I have learned have already been very useful in working with my current students.

I had decided that I wanted to undertake a TEFL course to add a string to my skill set and I carried out some on line analysis of the options available I found the TEFL academy and looked into their reviews and course structure which seemed impressive and well constructed. I have done a number of distance learning courses in my time and feel myself to be fairly well self-motivated to get to the end of such an endeavour. I must emphasis that being self-motivated is a crucial aspect in completing the course as 12 months can pass very quickly. I undertook my 20 hours weekend class session in Newcastle, which was a fun time with the mix of the class members lead by the enthusiastic teacher. The on line modules were interesting and allowed for a fair degree of out of the box creative thinking which I found immensely enjoyable. I set myself a target of completing approximately one module per month as working full time in a travel intensive role is not conducive to completing work to the level I would expect of myself, consequently, I completed the course in 9 months which is significantly longer than many others who seem to be able to finish the whole course in a matter of weeks, that said, my view is that the journey is often better than the destination and the multitude of minor goals were certainly satisfying to me.

I thought our tutor in Brighton was excellent-Joe Piercy. He was entertaining and gave the appearance of being laid back but was in reality incisive, motivating and thought provoking. The online information was interesting and covered a balance between EFL philosophy and practical lesson planning. I never felt I was just going through the motions as each assignment was stimulating and at times challenging. The work was marked promptly. The comments were encouraging but at times a bit general-more of a verbal version of your mark. I would definitely recommend the 120 hour course.

If you are looking for an enjoyable and flexible way to learn how to teach English as a foreign language, then the TEFL course will meet your needs! The 20 hour weekend is quite intense, but is just one weekend and a fun one at that. You have the opportunity to teach (in another language if possible!), meet other people doing the same course, and to learn the basics of EFL teaching. This, combined with the 100 hours online is really nothing considering that you are allocated a year to complete the whole course! The online modules are great, they provide more than enough information and are extremely helpful when it comes to planning lessons for the assignments. I could not fault this material, it is very straightforward and thorough. Furthermore, if you need help with anything, there is a way to contact a tutor directly through the TEFL log in page (which you will be able to access after you have done your 20 hour weekend) and they respond quickly and efficiently. The assignments are fairly considered and do not ask too much. The grammar exam is also much more simple that initially expected. I spent hours practicing my verb tenses, yet am pleased that I did as now I can spot them almost instantly. It is surprising how you forget these sorts of things that are taught in primary school, and yet they are vital to the English language! To anyone looking to further their career in teaching and possibly teaching abroad, I would recommend this course!

As an online course to teach you how to teach EFL (in its many forms), this was good and worthwhile. Even though feedback was not always balanced (perhaps too many positives, which is a good thing for many people), it was prompt. After receiving the qualification, I doubt that I will have difficulty finding a job with it - The TEFL Academy send me emails regularly about good quality TEFL jobs abroad. I was satisfied by the whole course.

I am so pleased to have chosen to complete my 120hr TEFL course with The TEFL Academy, who over the past 6 months have provided me with such amazing support and invaluable advice to really prepare me for my first teaching position in Thailand in October! When looking to complete a TEFL course, it was important to me to have the 20hr face-to-face teaching element of the course (2 x 10hr classroom days), which in practice, proved to be truly beneficial in allowing us time to plan lessons and practice delivering them to our peers. Our tutor, Katherine, was truly excellent and provided us with a great insight into her own TEFL experiences abroad and gave lots of tips and useful resources to use in our own teaching. The online element of the course was appropriately challenging and rewarding. It was at all times clear of what was required of me and the instructor feedback was really prompt, detailed and constructive. The 10 online modules followed a logical series and provided lots of information about the different elements of teaching English. There could have been perhaps a little more opportunity to practice lesson planning during the online aspect, but otherwise the course presents lots of information and serves as a great foundation for your teaching. For best grades, do your own research and use other sources in your essay and make sure you prepare and revise thoroughly for the grammar test. The TEFL Academy have been superb and I would recommend to anyone looking into TEFL to use them to gain your qualification. It has been both informative and enjoyable from start to finish!

I hope to start travelling soon and to be able to get a job. Loved the course would do it again if I had to. I cannot wait to start travelling and to use my new skills. Thanks

I chose to do my course in Plymouth as it was my local centre and chose the Tefl Academy as my course provider because I had read good reviews about it and it was the only one that offered any class time which I felt was an important element. It was a very long and hard weekend of work but invaluable in my understanding of what would be expected of me as a Tefl teacher. Our tutor was engaging and very informative. Preparing my first assignment on line was daunting – it was the first essay I had written in more years then I care to remember, however the feedback was swift to arrive and encouraging and I realised I was on the right track immediately. With regard to the course content, I feel that the module information provided was a bit limited and was very pleased that I had invested in some additional reading material so that I was able to get a broader picture. I am very pleased that I have completed the course and very grateful for the help and advice that the Tefl Academy has given me whilst completing it and now am looking forward to my first job teaching English as a foreign language.

My experience with the TEFL Academy was much greater than I thought .I am a homeschool mother of 3 kids ,I want to improve my english and i learned a lot with TEFL course , I learned how to plan a lesson ,how to use the time effectively . With the lesson plan you cover all sides of your teaching for example how to use your time during the class how to start your class what activity should be there ,what type of activity are needed for different levels ,so I learn them all in My tefl course and i use them in my homeschooling and now I have much better result. I studied this course in order to introduce another career path. I am a nurse and may wish to consider guiding foreign nurses through their work with enhanced English. Furthermore, I may consider retiring in the next 10 years and wish to cease my nursing and embark on something else. TEFL makes a good fit! I enjoyed the course, the materials were appropriate and the assignments interesting. Here's to looking forward to preparing my career ad and first appointments! Well done TEFL Academy!

The TEFL English course is a great way to do something constructive in your life from the comfort of your own home. I loved my experience studying for the TEFL certificate and while I have not yet been placed; I feel that I did something that has improved my skills and made me a better rounded individual. I know that my passion for this course will not go unnoticed.

The 120 hour TEFL course was great! It was very thorough and I was surprised by the effort and time I needed to spend on each assignment. After completing this course and having done some volunteer teaching at an unemployment centre I feel ready and able to take on my first real teaching job abroad. I will strongly recommend the TEFL Academy to anyone who wants to teach English in any way.

My goal in doing this course was to have the TEFL qualification 'under my belt'. I very much enjoyed the first 20 hours with the teacher. He was very expert and understood very well what could be taught in the time. I thought the following 100 hours would be straightforward - but it was not. It was very challenging, demanded very serious thought and was excellent in preparing for the rigorous task of teaching EFL successfully. I feel the preparation afforded by this course has been invaluable. And the marking was always timely and well thought through. I would thoroughly recommend the TEFL Academy Programme - but only for those with serious intentions of obtaining a worthwhile qualification.

This course is an excellent opportunity to learn everything you will ever need to know in order to teach English abroad. I strongly recommend the 120 hour course which consists of a 20 hour weekend course, followed by 100 hours online. The online course goes into a lot of vital detail about lesson planning and how to deal with tricky students. The weekend course was a lot of fun and the trainer was very professional and very helpful!

The 120 hour course is great - depending on why you are doing it. If, like me, you are there to get another qualification and perhaps do a little teaching whilst you travel it is great. Really comprehensive and helpful. However, if this is a change of career and you want to become a teacher then it is not for you! I do not think a 120 hour course can prepare you enough if you are serious about becoming a teacher. Also, be aware that it is not a doss. I think many people are misinformed about what is involved in a TEFL course, it is not multiple choice or something you could do in an evening. There are real essays and lesson plan assignments, which involve concentration and some outside research!

I thought The TEFL Academy 120 hour course was fantastic. The 20 hour practical course was fun and informative and many of the things we learnt have stuck with me as a teacher now. The online course was full of useful resources and really helped me making lesson plans and helping students with different needs. I would definitely recommend The TEFL Academy to anyone planning to become a TEFL teacher.
