“We visited the Argyll St mole clinic as I had a mild concern about some moles that had appeared on my shoulder. The examination was unbelievably thorough and professional, nothing to be embarrassed about. Sods law the moles I was worried about turned out to be completely benign, but the nurse did come across a tiny mole on my shoulder that she was worried about. £30 bought a dermatologists time to check a photo of the mole and it seems the nurse was right to be concerned. This is where BUPA kicked in with pre authorisation for a full consultation, removal and biopsy if needed. Interestingly BUPA’s dermatologists could not see me for some six weeks whereas the mole clinic have given me an appointment in a weeks time. Little point in messing around so we are removing the tiny mole and then sending it off for biopsy… where the BUPA route would have insisted on a consultation and separate removal. I must stress that this is early days and we are looking at a possibly pre cancerous stage so absolutely nothing to worry about… and thats the whole point of the Mole clinic service. For a small fee and no wasting time with GP’s we can catch skin cancer long before it even becomes a problem. On a more sobering note, although skin cancer is easy to manage at these early stages, it can easily kill if missed or ignored. My father died a horrific death in 1997 with cancers throughout his body. The cause was a simple skin cancer that was misdiagnosed as a boil by a locum GP. It was on his shoulder and 8 weeks later it had spread through his lymph glands causing the multiple cancers. No mole clinic in 1997. Things are different now so please use the mole clinic service.”

“I'm so happy I went. They checked all my moles, and we had a good chat and a laugh (my nurse was amazing with a great sense of humour) She found one mole that wasnt 100% and I got a second appointment 2 days later and the surgeon removed it.”

“Everything was made so easy from the initial booking to the consultation to the follow-up email. The staff were friendly and the nurse Angela was professional and caring. “I decided to visit the Mole Clinic as I am a very freckly person and I think it is extremely difficult to decide whether a mole has changed shape or if it should be looked at. I opted for the full body check and had the reports e-mailed to me within the 3 days as promised. The nurse also called me the day that the report was sent to me to explain the findings. I would certainly recommend this service.”

“With clinics in multiple locations The Mole Clinic provide easy access. I had a check up in 2022 which identified what turned out to be a large Carcinoma. After surgery at the start of this year, I went for a check up and am delighted to be clear. It's such an easy thing to do, and it can be the difference between early intervention and treatment versus capturing it too late. I've recommended to all my friends.”
