“I think the course was pretty well organised, with some small audio quality issues but this was not interfering with the learning process, that’s why I gave 5 stars. I learned many new things with this course and I started already to apply them”

“Absolutely amazing! I loved every moment of it and it is probably why I flew through it. The feedback on written assignments was super fast and easily understandable. I have completed other courses where you have to really chase the tutors for a true understanding of what it is they require you to do. But this course was ace! I love the video clips as well as the scripts and the quizzes where I nice touch to help break up the learning. I’d do it all again and am looking at what I can do next! Well done guys, keep up the good work! Representing from Slovakia eventually, I will be putting your name forward at every opportunity I get! Thank you so much.”

“The overall course was very good and challenging. You only have three chances on a final exam on the 200 hour course. The instructions state to contact someone at the support center if you have questions between the second and third try. It was not made clear this would only be one person specifically assigned to you, and thus it might take a day, or it might take a weeak, or they might never respond. This part of the course was very frustrating. Not being able to have a conversation except through email or chat when you think you understand a concept, but can't convey that in writing and need to talk it through is a downfall of the course. Otherwise the format is great.”

“Overall, I am grateful for everything TEFL offers. I appreciate that it is a self paced course, and that it's a 6 month investment, which feels much more "palatable" than embarking on a 1-2 year endeavor. I enjoyed the recordings of actual lessons being taught by TEFL tutors, as I happen to be an auditory AND visual learner, so it was really helpful to see things like a PPP lesson put into practice. I like that everyone gets assigned a tutor, as you have a touchstone throughout the process. Having said that, I'd have loved the opportunity to connect with someone "live" from time to time, to answer and/or clarify areas of confusion. I also found myself a bit frustrated with some of the Qs in the quizzes, as there were sometimes oddly phrased questions, that felt nebulous, or like a trick question. This wasn't ALL the time, but enough for me to take notice. Also, I'd have liked a larger maximum word count on the assignments, as it was hard to articulate my ideas fully, and I often spent an inordinate amount of time trying to rework things, simply to get the word count down. To that end, my time could have been spent more usefully. Lastly, something I find myself wanting now that I've finished, is the opportunity to "shadow" a TEFL tutor during a virtual session. I am someone who has a career outside of my interest in teaching English, and a great deal of my work is over Zoom and Google Meet, so I'd love to be able to see "live" what it looks like to teach English virtually. Perhaps -- moving forward -- being allowed to join a Zoom meeting btwn. a Tutor and a student would be a great option for recent TEFL grads.”

“Overall, a good course, especially the three-day face-to-face teaching bit, which was superb thanks to Simon's expertise and personality. As for the main body of the course - there are typos in lesson transcripts, which although not a big deal, may work to undermine confidence since the course teaches how to teach English. I found the heavy reliance on Scottish-accented teachers a bit misguided. I appreciate you want to expose students to all types of English accents but when teaching abroad, RP is still favoured so you need to be able to learn proper pronunciation.”

It is important to note that English accents can be very strong and diverse – even within different regions of the UK itself. “The TEFL course was hugely informative and makes use of plenty of resources to draw upon and the marking and feedback is very useful. It could sometimes perhaps use a bit more colour and some more visual stimulus just to maintain interest. Marking was generally very quick and handy, however sometimes rules aren’t always clear. For example, I had to pay for an extension while waiting for my last course to be marked as it hadn’t come through before my deadline. This was rather annoying!”

“I would like to praise the organisation as a whole and the way the course was designed was really amazing and prone to learning. I would just request a few things: there should be mics for the students so that we could hear what everyone is saying. Use of different tools must also be made so that we learn how to use them when we do so. Furthermore, the info@tefl.org email didn't respond whenever I sent an email regarding my problems, that too must be sorted out. The rest was best.”
