“Seems a good idea but didn’t realise there was a use by date. Suggestion is to put them in the freezer. However, the garlic, ginger and chilli’s turned to mush. Shan’t be buying again.”

For freshness, many of our kits can be frozen to extend shelf life, though some ingredients may soften slightly when frozen. We appreciate you giving us a try and your honest input. “I did not realise there would be such a short time scale. For some reason I beloved it would be use by 30 January and these all say 24 December.”

Hi Carol, Thank you for getting in touch, and I’m sorry for the confusion around the dates. Our kits are fresh products, and the best before date is around 19 days from the day of production, which is why they show 24 December. The good news is that for longer-term use, the kits can be safely frozen in their original packaging. Many customers do this with no issues at all. Freezing will allow you to use them well beyond the date shown, and you can cook straight from frozen if needed. Warm regards, Team The Tastesmiths

“We really enjoyed it, and the idea of it's really handy. Unfortunately some of the ingredients we had sent were moldy on arrival so had to do a quick shop. But ultimately recipe was nice”

Hi Carl, thanks for giving us a try and for sharing your honest feedback. We're sorry to hear the kits didn’t hit the mark for you. Our focus is on providing a scratch-cooking experience with carefully blended spices and real ingredients in their freshest form — something that we haven't seen in UK supermarkets, where there are pastes and sauces used instead. Some of our spice blends contain up to 10 different spices, which would cost a lot more to buy individually. But we understand it’s not for everyone and we appreciate you giving it a go all the same.

“I ordered 6 kits, they took sometime to arrive and all had the same use by date of 5 February. Had I realised they had such a short life I would have ordered less as I will not be able to use all six so quickly.”

“I guess this may go against the grain , but i though they were average , tasted ok but didnt agree with me , definately didnt taste like a rogan josh id had before and did it to the letter with recipe and ingredients , not saying it wasnt tasty as it was ok , just had better home curries before so each to their own”

“Amazing kits Unfortunately Royal Mail dumped my parcel in the bin and didn’t leave a card to tell me my food was in the bin I messaged tastesmiths regarding this and I am still yet to get a reply this was on the 7th of May”

“I still have not found a curry kit that tastes anything like I get at a Restaurant or Take away. Your kits that I have used taste just like my own home made. So I won't be subscribing. Sorry.”

We do try to make our kits as authentic as possible but understand that everybody's expectations and preferences are different. But we are glad to hear that you will continuing to cook your own home made meals as we one thing I think we do agree, is fresh is best. Thanks again.

Hi Martin, thank you for your review we really appreciate your feedback. Great to hear you are loving the kits! Our normal turnaround time is 2-3 days for postage but this can differ during busy periods. We do also offer a fully tracked or a next day delivery service if you cannot wait for a delicious curry any longer!

“Great taste / flavour but a little dissapointed in use by dates that means you will have to freeze some of your kits ( resulting in chilli's etc going very soft when defrosted) unless your going to eat one a day.”

Hi Jacqui, I'm glad you found the curries tasty! Most of our kits have a best before of just over 2 weeks, but you can always freeze the ones you don't think you'll use straightaway for use at a later date. This way, they'll be good beyond the best before date. It's what most of our customers who order 6 or 8 at a time do.

“Not had a chance to use any yet, but had 2 emails in 2 days asking for a review.. for that reason its a neutral review... but here goes.. Had an email confirmation of my order, then no update on my delivery date, and no update to say it had even been sent. I did receive an answer when I enquired... Perhaps you could put more effort into the communication regarding the order updates rather than the all important review of the product. Having said that.. looks really good, well packaged. Looking forward to trying them.”

“I convinced my wife that the Goan curry with prawns would be a good idea for dinner (she never likes home made curry but I do). I bought several kits including the Goan to give them a try. To my dismay, the ginger in the kit (use by 17th April so 2 weeks in date) had white mould growing on it. I had to decide whether to throw it all away or cut off the mould and try the curry. I chose the latter, cutting off the bad bits and forgetting to tell my wife it was mouldy (until afterwards!) All in all the curry was quite nice, my wife ate it so a good result on that side. I emailed Tastesmiths but no reply, so I will show the mould here and maybe I will get a response!”

“Love the kits and they're well priced but €14 postage from the UK to Ireland is unreal and got caught for €17 export charges also which is new... No fault to the company per se”
