“I have enjoyed all the curries from Tastesmiths,however l have not been impressed with some of the ingredients in the kits, the cinnamon bark pieces are very small,and difficult to see and remove before serving. The pieces of ginger are very small so after peeling there's not much left. Curry leaves are very small with brown marks,l always throw away these items and use my own fresh Cinnamon ginger and curry leaves.”

“Ingredients and recipes excellent but last order took nearly 3 weeks. Requested a refund or credit note and was ignored.”

“The kits are well presented but the dates were so short, I had to use all kits within a. Couple of weeks, that's a lot of curry The kits taste quite good but I don't want to be freezing them as soon as I purchase them Not sure I would buy again”

Hi Mark, unfortunately, those date issues are tied to working with purely fresh ingredients. Forzen kits perform perfectly well, we recommend not defrosting before use.

“Not as tasty as I thought they would be, my friend told me about this company as we live in Northern Ireland, can’t get a decent curry here! Think I will just carry on making my own.”

“Bought 6 packs after being recommended by a friend. The first we tasted was the fish / prawn Gowan curry, Wow, it was fantastic. After our first experience was looking forward to the Tikka Masalla, very disappointed, followed the recipe to the letter, added half the chilli, it tasted Madras + hot and was very bland. We still have 4 packs left from the freezer, not sure what to do, keep or bin!”

“I’m a bit disappointed to be honest. The marketing, packaging is great but not too happy with the end result. I have bought the curry mixes before and they were good, I bought the marinate pack this time and whilst they looked great, I found it a wee bit of a faff to prepare.”

“Hi...my first order and cooked Khoresh.Did not do it for me.No depth of flavour.Followed recipe but found the kinda clove flavour not to my taste.Hopefully my next choice is better.”

“Pretty nice result, but I didn't fully realise that most kitchens have 95% of the ingredients already, so in reality is quite expensive for a couple of bits of spices and a recipe”

“Just disappointed that 29.03.2021 date on packs when we didn’t receive until this week after delivery was promised approx 3 working days after order 06.03.2020 and communications with yourselves on 3-4 occasions when told by one employee you could send out another delivery to us if not received that day (2 days later). Will freeze and see what like.”

“Bought 6 but didnt realise the short shelf life. Now just seen an offer on line for first order so missed it. Kits are easy to use but actual difference in tastes of different curries is not as pronounced as I would like.”

“Tried these after seeing so many positive reviews! As big curry fans, we were super excited to try; the Sri Lankan was delicious, really rich and flavoursome. However we found the Madras and Rogan Josh disappointing and didn’t feel they delivered that authentic taste we are used to.”

“I’m now on my third 6-pack consignment and think I’ve got pretty good at changing some things about. Firstly, the ingredients are all gloriously fresh and even when out of the freezer, there’s no deterioration in quality. My only gripe is that either I’m a shocking chef (a big possibility) and/or cannot read a recipe or an awful lot of what I’m cooking tastes very similar and certainly not a patch on even an Asda curry of the same name, never mind a restaurant/takeaway. I’ve decided that that the overpowering taste of ginger needed reducing and I have done so in each dish, improving the taste immeasurably. The results are never unpleasant opinion taste but as I said, they all taste quite similar and rarely anything like the name on the label. Maybe it’s me but I think it’s unlikely I’ll buy any more.”

Hi Pamela, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review here! Our kits are advertised as 'scratch cooking with fresh ingredients' so unfortunately are a little time consuming and limited in their shelf life - generally we hear that the results are fully worth these limitations. for future reference, our kits can be frozen and perform perfectly well straight from the freezer.

“Delivery quick and we’ll packaged. However have only so far tried the masala mix and the whole family found it too spicy and nothing like a masala ... very disappointed but will still try other packets”

Hi Carol, please forward us a photo of the kit along with how it was stored and we'll be more than happy to replace it! This is something we rarely hear of, but when working with purely fresh ingredients there is always a little risk. Glad to hear that Tikka Masala went down well, sorry to hear of your experience with the peri peri.
