“The cottage was set in a lovely location with amazing views. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming, and we enjoyed the welcome pack which included delicious homemade cakes.”
“Accommodation was beautiful. Clean and spacious. The surrounding area was so scenic. Our hosts were so accommodating, helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.”
“Had a lovely relaxing week in Dormouse Cottage. The cottage was quaint, clean and included all we needed. The double bed was especially comfortable and we loved the peace and quiet. The village has everything including two dog friendly pub/restaurants, two shops and a petrol station/garage. There are plenty of local walks perfect for our elderly dog. The cafe on Hive Beach served wonderful food and the beach was stunning. The location made travelling to local seaside towns easy. At the harbour at West Bay, Bridport we had great fish and chips.
On arriving home after our break away, we realised we had left something in the cottage. We contacted Sykes Cottages and it was found and posted to our home address within 3 days. Wonderful service, thank you 😊”
“The bungalow (Hemploe) is our happy place, lovely area , close to the beach, we have everything we need in the bungalow and a lovely garden for the dogs, we have booked again next year that will be our fourth visit so I think that says it all 🥰”
“Very friendly and helpful host. Beautiful location. Delightful accommodation, well maintained, clean and with a lovely starter hamper as a welcome gift. Highly recommended.”
“This lodge had everything you could possibly need except for a freezer even a caravan one would be good.
Having said that it was perfect in every way especially the hot tub and well equipped.
Nick and Steph were on hand to resolve any issues and were so welcoming.
I would definitely recommend staying with them.”
“What a fabulous holiday we had at Ty Garth. It was perfect for us and our 3 little dogs. The garden is fully enclosed so it is very secure for dogs and it is also a lovely sun trap if you’re fortunate enough to get some sunshine which we were!! The house itself was very clean and very well equipped with everything we could want and has a great layout. We loved Benllech too. Plenty of walks and a brilliant dog friendly beach a short walk away. Also a great base for exploring. I must apologise my little Angus thought the sloth door stop was a toy and chewed his nose off!! Fortunately I managed to find a suitable replacement and Ollie the tartan dog has now replaced him. All in all we did have a fantastic week and will definitely be booking again!!”
“Well presented property, modern, clean, well equipped.
Good base for this area.
Nice to have 2 reception rooms.
Nice to have small patio space & lawn also.”
“Loved our stay the house was lovely, clean and homely
Would suggest that instructions for the oven are readily available we scratched our heads 🤣and the back door lock could be difficult other than that we all said yes it was a definite yes if we came back to this part of beautiful wales”
“We have used Sykes for a number of years and have always found the properties we have stayed at to be of a good standard of comfort and cleanliness however we have stayed at two cottages this year which we felt did not meet previous years standards.
In one property the key collection was very haphazard and seemed to be more for the convenience of the owner than us the guests and when we did gain access there was no internet or tv connections, much of the cutlery was in need of a wash, it could have been better presented and cleaner. There was no welcome pack or general information about what was in the area which might have been of interest to a stranger.
The second property was also lacking in internet and tv connection, only tepid hot water, smelling of damp and could do with a touch of paint and general TLC.
While I am on a roll, as these properties are self catering please ensure that the cooking utensils are up to the job. In two of the properties the non stick element to the frying pans had gone and in one case the pan was showing signs of rust.
On the positive side we found Robertsons Cottage at Caledon a delight to stay in as it is simple but comfortable and provides everything one needs for an enjoyable break away from home, like wise Brandy Cottage in Galway was of a high standard and a joy to visit.
Also only two weeks prior to our leaving for our five week break in Ireland we were informed our first property, which we had booked for two weeks, was no longer available due to the owner selling it. We were then sent a single alternative. I do feel that we could have been given a little more help in finding alternative accommodation.”
“The Bungalow is very comfortable, and clean it does feel like home from home.
Just a couple of things, the Televison could be mounted a bit lower in the living room, you do get neck ache a bit.
The quits on the single beds need to be wider as dont cover you properly.”
“Fabulous cottage in a beautiful location. Very well equipped with everything you need for your stay and very comfortable
Saw deer and hares every day.”
“Easy booking process
Not sure whose responsibility it is, Sykes or cottage owner, but some information for The Crook where we have stayed several times needs updating. It states the village has 2 pubs which is incorrect...the General Burgoyne remains open but the other pub closed well before COVID.”
